v Cardiff City (a) 10/4/21 - Into the Valley(s)

I’m watching this game and I’m realising i just don’t care. I’m have no emotion whatsoever. We are never getting back into this game, I would bet my life on us not scoring. TM you have ruined supporting this club for me. Well done. We are going down. Edit: your welcome -
Genuine question. If you were offered a scenario where we got relegated this season with TM leaving the club vs staying up this season but having to endure TM for another full season what would you prefer? For me no doubt I would take league one with no TM. He, along with Waggot, have genuinely nearly made me lose all interest in the club. I can’t remember the last time I had any true faith in the club. It’s heartbreaking.

Mowbrays Successor

Going foreign is the right move. Only British manager who I would be truly excited to see appointed would be Howe, but he will near certainly get a prem job. My dream appointment would be Jokanvic. Class manager on and off the field, had Fulham playing some of the best football the championship has ever seen. Has promotion experience with both Watford and Fulham. Major stumbling block will be his wages. Either way I find it promising that replacements are a least ‘supposedly’ being discussed. -

While I agree with you in regards to loans signings, I don’t believe we are in that situation. Let’s break down our loans: - Trybull. Clearly a decent player and a upgrade on Evans, but has been far from integral to our season and I doubt he will be missed when his loan comes to an end. Along with this we have a significant amount of central midfielders at the club - Douglas. Finally starting to show a bit of form and hopefully can carry that into the 2nd half of the season. However he has been relatively poor for us so far, and we seemed to have signed a long term replacement for the beginning of next season in Pickering. Him leaving will not be an issue. - Braithwaith and Harwood Bells. Both seem to be great prospects and should give us some really good depth in that position, which we have lacked this season. For sure when they go back to their parent clubs next season we will need to sign proper first team centre back, but even then we will have 3 very decent centre backs in Wharton, lenihan, and Ayala. And who knows, we may be able to get one of them back on loan next season. - Harvey Elliot. Surely no one can complain about this loan. Has been one of our best players this season and will surely end up winning young player of the year. Unless we get promoted I can’t see us getting him back, which will leave us a little short in the winger department. However by next season Dolan will have had a full season of first team football in the bank and should be able to step up. He certainly looks like he has the ability. Either way though I would imagine we would go out and get a winger. Overall, when our loans go back we won’t be left too short, with Pickering signing for next season, we will only really need 1 centre back and 1 winger to cover the loans of this season. Having 5 loans this season isn’t ideal, and it’s a trap we mustn’t fall into, but in the case of our loans this season I can’t see them leaving us with the need of an overhaul. This seasons we have been massively hit by injuries, and loans are the best way to cover that. At least we seem to be bringing in quality. one thing I have say is very pleasing, is how venkys have been so supportive in terms of transfer dealings. I’m far from there biggest fan, and I don’t think I’ll ever forgive them for everything, but their financial support through the pandemic has been outstanding. If only we had a top tier manager to make the most of it... let’s hope that we get these deals over the line and continue our push towards the playoffs. -

Seems like a very astute signing, one which will give us stability at left back in the long term, aswell as providing us with a player who has premier league potential. Personally I would want him here for the rest of the season, I haven’t been personally impressed with Douglas, albeit the last couple of games aside, and would like to see this lad given a go there. However it may be a case that sending him back on loan will reduce the fee we need to fork out to get him, hence making him affordable in this window, which is something I would be on board with. He is a player who seemingly has significant interest in him and if we wait until the summer we run the risk of missing out. -

Normally I would agree with you but he played for Crewe today, which seems to question how close the deal is. If he does come in you would imagine that bell is leaving, especially with him not in the squad today. One possibility could be that we loan him back to Crewe until the end of the season. -

No doubt this we’ll be a physical game. Luton will come here to try and break up our play and keep it scrappy, with our pitch working to their advantage. As a result of this I personally would want to see us play abit more direct. Get Gally and Brereton on the wings as an out ball and to bring down the ball and feed Arma and Dack, similar to how we finished against Boro. Give Rothwell and Elliot a rest and bring them on if needed. Kaminski Nymabe Lenihan Brainthwaith Douglas Travis Davenport Gally Dack BB Arma formation: 4 2 3 1 -

Honestly I just can’t believe Mowbray is still in a job. He is completely out of his depth at this level. It’s getting to a point where I think us fans need to make some sort of statement about it, but with no fans in stadiums I’m not sure how we can do that. At any other club, with these players, he would be gone. -

Harry pickering sounds like excellent buisness. No complaints from me. Let’s just hope we can get it over the line. And oh yeah hope that TM actually plays him. -
Tony Mowbray - Stick or Twist ?
TruRover replied to Tyrone Shoelaces's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I think it is clear that this is a crucial season in the future of Blackburn Rovers. There are no doubts that the squad we currently have is the best we have had in many years, since relegation from the premier league I would say. With players such as nymabe, Kaminski, ayala, travis, Rothwell, dack, Armstrong and Elliot we should be pushing for the top 2, yet we find ourselves as an outside bets for the playoffs, and I think we can all agree that that just isn’t good enough. We can all respect the job TM has done here, he has been really good for the club and has got us through some dark times, however it is clear as day that he has taken us as far as he can. We have been a mid table championship team for 3 seasons running now, with no real improvement to the issues that seem to plague us. This season imo has been the most frustrating I’ve experienced for a long time, as I know we should be doing better. It really does seem like that all teams need to do against us is sit back and hit us on the counter, because throughout the season we have been incapable of breaking teams down. TM has had his chance to fix things and he hasn’t, and now for the sake of the season and sake of the club, he has to go. The worrying thing for me is that there doesn’t even seem to be any pressure on him. Not from the owners, not from the board and not even from the media. He just seems to be in a unsackable position. He’s a trusted person with in the club who many have respect for, and unfortunately they don’t seem to able to see past that. What we need is Waggot to be ballsy and go for a change, I think even if they messed up the appointment then fans would still respect that the change was needed. Annoyingly there seems to be no way that us fans can let our voices be heard. In terms of who I would bring in to replace him if he were to go, I think it would be important to keep in with the style of play we have developed. So I’d be looking at Eddie Howe of preferably jokanvic who did an exceptional job at fulham. I think with the players we have rovers would be an attractive proposition to any manager who is open to managing in the championship. -

Apparently we have an option to extent nyambe’s contract for a further year, so we won’t be losing him on a free this season. -

Kipre on loan with a view to a perm is the move imo. Seems like he is one who is under consideration but I feel we may have to wait for westbrom to recruit one or two defenders first. -
He’s got to go. It’s as simple as that. Only issue is that there is no one at the club with the balls to make that decision.

For me, this is the best squad we’ve had since relegation from the prem, and might possibly be our strongest for quite a while when considering loans and contract situations. To me it feels similar to the last full season which Bowyer was in charge for, where we failed to to get promoted with a really strong squad, and hence that squad got broken up with players such as Gestede, Rhodes, king, cairney etc etc. That team reached the end of its cycle and eventually outgrew our league position and it does feel if we don’t go up this season, we may be in a similar situation. Obviously we’ve had a lot of injuries this year, especially to key players, but with eveyone fit I’m curious to see how people would interpret our strongest line up for me it’s Kaminski nymabe lenihan ayala Douglas Dack travis Rothwell elliot Arma BenB Was very tempted to put Wharton in this line up over Ayala, as I feel he was very impressive when he came into the team and was improving with every game, however I don’t think we’ve seen enough of him to judge whether or not he is better than ayala. For me Douglas has been hit and miss, either way I still see left back as our weakest position, I was half tempted to go with JRC there. In terms of midfield I believe travis has been a massive miss for us this season, he’s twice the player the Johnson is and gives us so much energy. Holtby was hard to leave out but I think the threat of dack and Rothwell is too obvious to miss out. The front 3 speak for themselves imo. I honestly believe that line up would see up push for top 2 (assuming we can actually break our glass ceiling). Curious to see what other people see as our strongest line up?

I would of liked to have done this but I had concerns about making my results too broad. As much as the effect of Covid on fans is an interesting topic it kind of veers away from the ideal of place and more to covid19, rather than looking at how Covid19 has effected place and in turn affected football fans. If that makes sense. Either way many thanks for your participation! -

Apologies that this isn’t strictly rovers related. I am currently doing my dissertation on the relationship between football fans and place. If you could please fill out my questionnaire I would great appreciate it. Should only take 5 minutes.https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=DQSIkWdsW0yxEjajBLZtrQAAAAAAAAAAAAO__cQBzlBUNDkxOEhXUkJKTDlYUzlKSjlVRThYU1pJNS4u EDIT: I’ve managed to reach the maximum amount of responses, so thank you to everyone who participated!
