I'm personally hoping for Brereton or chapman with a view to a perm deal.
-
Palmer will be a big player for us this season I'm sure. Always looking to make something happen, he will lose the ball but he will also be threatening with it. Much prefer that to constant sideways passes. People need to remember he isn't match fit yet and hasn't had a run of games where he regualry starts for a long time. A lot more to come from him I feel.
-
Considering we are likely to end up mid table this season a run in the cup would be welcome. Also need to get that first win of the season out of the way. Id go for: Raya Nyambe - Downing - Lenihan - Bell Travis - Davenport Palmer - Rothwell - Conway Armstrong Relatively strong team and would give some of our fringe players a chance to impress and a good chance for Palmer, Rothwell and Armstrong to get there first goals of the season. If Samuel is fit then I'd play him up front and Armstrong on the wing instead of Palmer. If Travis standouts then would start him at Hull.

What TM is looking to do is sign Grahams long term replacement. He's looking for a strong powerful centre forward who is useful in the air and can hold up the ball. I think Breton was TM's target as he has the physical attributes and he clearly has a lot of potential. If he had got a year under grahams guidance it would of done him the world of good and would of gone a long way to helping us be ready to potentially lead the line for us next season in our attempt to challenge for the playoffs. So it's a shame we didn't get him in. Either way we failed to make a marque signing, a player who could improve our team for the next couple of years. So, as I think TM has recognised in his recent comments, the permanent window has been more of a failure than a success. In regards to some of our targets such as Bauer and Chapman, I think we will wait until Jan and get them on reduced fees.
-
We've only brought in 4 players, one being a loan. That is dissapointing. Along with that I'd say only 2 of them improve our starting 11, Palmer and Armstrong. The other two are unknown qualities. We need two more permanent signings which improved our starting 11 and that hasn't happened. I cant see the loan saving us to much, itll mainly be youngsters. Having said that I don't think our actual squad is too bad, just think we've missed a chance to push the highier end of the league.

There's no way this is gonna happen, we don't even know if the bids been accepted and the window is gonna close in 8 mins. Suggestions are that the bid falls short of forests valuation. Warming to the idea of the signing IF it did happen but think we are out of time with this one.
-
It screams panic buy to me, but the general feeling from forest fans is that he's got massive potential and that he's worth around 10 million. Seems like he is a dynamic power big striker whose finishing needs a bit of work. Would be a huge huge gamble.
-
Really hope that isn't true. Sounds like a massive panic buy. I'd rather us not sign anyone than chuck money away. So frustrating that we seemingly have this money which we didn't use on good players at great prices such as Mcgin and Edwards.
-
I'm resigned to nothing happening today, which is a shame because I really liked the idea of Freeman - Dack - Palmer behind Graham. Massive dissapointment not to get any perm deals as clearly the money was there. We missed out on some really really good deals over the summer, Edwards and McGinn being the two I am most gutted about. Imagine if we had brought in Rothwell, McGinn, Palmer, Edwards and Armstrong, along with a decent back up striker on loan. Would of been excellent business. We would of brought in a balance of high quality players and good back up options, along with players who have big potential for high resale. Were gonna have to make do with what we have and although I am dissapointed with this window I have faith in TM and the players from last season to step up. Who knows we could do a millwall and challenge the top end. But we have defo missed out on some good players who were seemingly in our price range.

Im pretty sure it was Harrison

After speaking to a mate who is a QPR fan I'm really hoping we can somehow pull off a deal for freeman. He's hardworking relatively quick although not the quickest and has the skill to open up a defence. With him being left footed it would give us balance on the left hand side.
-
Why are people raving about Nmecha? He may do well but he has no first team experience and the championship is a tough tough league and it will take him time to settle and find his feet. Relying on him to score goals is a big big gamble. I'd much rather have someone with abit more experience and proven. Seems like Gallagher will come in during the loan window, Which isn't the most exciting but he's proven he can score goals at this level and does have the qualities to potentially be a effective lone striker.
-
I don't think we are in as bad shape as people think, reckon we're a wideman and a striker short. Hoping we get one today on a perm deal otherwise will be dissapointed.
-
While I think I would would prefer Maddison, Freeman does have being proven at championship level on his side, and qpr fans rate him very highly. Would be very happy if he came in.
-
West Brom met his release clause 3 weeks ago and he was about to have a medical there however they decided against signing him. Reading enquirer about Maddison earlier in the summer but there chairman said earlier in the summer that Maddison 200% wouldn't be going there. You can never rule out anything in football tho.
-
If Maddison goes elsewhere then it's nobody's fault but our owns. Had all summer to get him signed up with his known release clause.
-
Been rooting for us to get Marcus Maddison all summer. Very talented player, wideman and has got the delivery to match his pace. Would be a top signing for us and is arguably a better deal at 2.5 million than Freeman at 4+million.
-
Please tell me this isn't true. 1 million on a back up keeper! Would be such a waste.
-
Tbh I think we massively missed out on Mcgin, in our price range and a player would of taken our midfield to a new level.
-
Would like to see us have 2 perm signings with one Marque signing today, we seemingly do have the money to spend and would be great if we could pull off a bargain. QPR fans seem to think that Freeman is worth around 8 million so the 4 million quoted could be that. An ambitious move for a premier league forward has also been mooted, any idea on who that is?
-
Well that's come out of no where! Freeman would be a very good signing. He's QPRs key player from last season, 17 goal contributions from last season says it all. That's more than Grealish I think. 4 million would be good business. A trio of palmer, dack and Freeman behind Graham would be naughty. All players who can take players on and can make somthing happen. However I hope this money being spent is not being spent over money on a striker as it essential we bring one in imo.
-
Getting chapman back would be a very good move. It's easy to see his potential and he is worth the gamble imo. He's also been impressive for Boro in pre season. People forget that we didn't have Armstrong for the full season, and we hardly had chapman at all. Along with that I think palmer is an excellent addition and Davenport COULD be very good. We are definitely stronger than last season, although I would say the league is a bigger improvement compared to the improvement of the squad. That was always gonna be the case sadly, that just means the existing players will have to step there game up, and I have trust in TM to get the best out of them. Having said all that, get a centre forward on a perm deal tomorrow is essential in my eyes.

Funny game this, a win makes it a really good start, a loss makes it a poor one and a draw probably satisfies expectations. Along with it our opposition is abit of a unknown quality. On paper I would say we have a better team, however Millwall were 4 mins away from beating Boro 2 Nil on sat, who themselves beat Sheff United 3 nil last night. To add to that they finished as one of the form teams last season and are probably still running on a high from that, so I'd say it isn't the best time to play them, will be a difficult game. The team I would like us to see us play is: Raya Nyambe - Lenihan - Mulgrew - Bell Travis - Bennett Palmer - Dack - Armstrong Graham However I fully expect TM to play the same as he did at Ipswich.

Lennon has just confirmed that it's between villa and Celtic for Mccgin with villa being in the driving seat. So that's that one ruled out. Sharpe has seemed to indicate that something could happen today, anyone any idea?
-
I was under the impression Mccgin would only come in if Grealish was sold as they have quite a few midfieldiers.
