I've just posted on the Bristol Rovers forum for some intel on the Garrett situation. Proper waste. Cracking little player. Garrett | Bristol Rovers GasChat Forum -

We're 5th in the championship.. I still think we lack a centre half- as you pointed out. One injury away from a disaster there.. Lack any genuine pace out wide. But, perhaps most concerning is we lack a goal scorer. I like to work off worst case scenarios: Pears has a dip. Hyam or Batth injured/suspended. Strikers don't click. Hedges picks up and injury and Dolan gets himself a move lined up.. Ideally I'd account for all that. Don't just look for back-up. Look to improve each of those positions. That's what would push us on. Reality is we're unlikely to even bring in adequate back-up.. Centre half, a khadra type, a goal scorer (Villa lad at Stockport) and a rapid winger.. -

Ironically (and somewhat off track, so not entirely ironic) I was saying Gueye would make a belting centre half! haha -

I'd be tapping Villa up all the way for the young lad on loan at Stockport. Massive future in the game. Him, along with a centre half, winger, centre half (of quality) and I think we've got a chance... -

Sorry, no offense intended. Sure you're fully aware, but Hendry is an absolute legend down here. Always good to hear off other fans. Good luck for the season. I'll keep an eye out for your results! -
To think people called, and still do, Jason Roberts a donkey.. Gueye is such a likeable guy. Has some great attributes, I do hope it clicks for him.. He seems pretty decent running with the ball which suprises me a lot.. I think there's a lot to be said for character. The lad appears to actually be proud to wear the shirt. He's aggressive, wants to win, has a relationship with the fans. I love him. A welcome, addition. We've had much worse. We've had better. For me, seeing someone wear the shirt that wants, and is proud to wear it is brilliant.

Beck, reminds me a lot of another Liverpool left back we signed- Warnock. Brilliant little player. Liverpool are arguably one of the best teams in the world right now, they're being linked to Alfonso Davies.. I'm not sure he's in that bracket. He'd surely be a good squad player, which is no mean feat.. Wonderful player. I think he'd walk into a side like United though. I see more in Beck than the likes of Rico Lewis at City. Joy to watch. Massive potential. How's your season going- Dundee United? Didn't we sign Billy Mckinlay from you? -

That young lad, Barry on loan from Villa at Stockport has a bright future.. I've just been looking at this Link to last seasons best mids in league 1 why don't we take the lad from Plymouth, Jordan Houghton? Give us another, and slightly different option in CM? -

Luton have some very good players. Their away form is shocking though. Rovers are in great form, however we did lose at home to Stoke.. Toss a coin on this one for me.. More inclined to think we'll pick up 3 points here though.. No hard feelings towards Kaminski but it'd be absolutely beautiful to see Pears on the winning side against his old 'master'.. -
Imagine if we'd dropped Pears for Kaminski that season...
-
I'd drop Pears in a heart beat. Unforgiveable that goal he sliced into his own net against Sheff Wed last season. I'd have given him away at that point. For me he's an average number 2. Now, the new lad might be shit, which wouldn't be good as we'd be left with two shit keepers again. However, he might be a lot better than a keeper we know is fairly inconsistent and prone to horrendous errors. We owe him nothing. Give the new lad a chance. No, I'm not a massive fan!

Powell looks tenacious, I like him. Quick, forwarded thinking and aggressive.

No3 and the deep lying playmaker (Reminds me a bit of Wharton) both look good.

The past 10-15 years has either made me an objective-realist or a tremendous pessimist.. I can't help but think of the underinvestment. The club's made a relative fortune in player sales over the past couple of years, yet here we are. How much have we re-invested this summer in transfer fee's? The players we've brought in are reflective of our budget, and, as a general rule of thumb, we all know you finish where you spend.. I obviously love Rovers and cling to the hope these new lads fire us up the table but I am doubtful. The squad of a few years ago has been absolutely dimantled. The Japanese lad, fair play, scored a couple, yet it's very early doors.. Gueye, whilst he does appear to have some good attributes, as a striker, it does help to be able to finish too.. Midfield, I still think we're woefully short. Trondstadt is great, Travis too, but we don't have any GOOD ball carrying midfielders. We're massively short on pace and creativity and have a dodgy defence. I know footy is very subjective, hope I'm wrong and we dick Bunleh today and rampage the league but I just think we lack any real quality.. Hope to be proven wrong.
