  1. While using the stadium of a club that more than any represents what's wrong with football (and the planet).
  2. Speaking of "that other trust" I've found some information connecting them and Philip Green (of BHS infamy) to someone operating a ponzi scheme. https://www.casemine.com/judgement/uk/5b46f2162c94e0775e7f210b
  3. Statement by administrator condemning Ken Anderson. No mention of Bassini by name. Credit also given to the Eddie Davies Trust who are said to have done everything possible to help. If true much unlike others who catered to countless whims of a greedy, selfish family. https://www.bwfc.co.uk/news/2019/august/statement-on-behalf-of-david-rubin--partners-administrators-for-bolton-wanderers3/
  4. Wilkinson calling you a racist on Twitter (unfortunately he hasn't retired from there)
  5. Said a couple of weeks back on here that odds of reaching the playoff final are probably worse. Maybe slightly "tongue in cheek" but not entirely unfounded either under Mowbray's management.
  6. I remember using that quote somewhere about the Walkers years back lol.
  7. Touche but I didn't use exactly those words. It would be a bit more sensitive than "setting up shop" as you put it. The point is since there's a considerable number of people on the database from Preston the situation might be the same in Bolton. So from that standpoint it would make sense to market there regardless. Plus Man United won't have any scruples about the situation and targeting the youth of Bolton or people who just want to see league football. I suppose City won't be ignoring the area either. Honestly I don't think Bolton will go out of business anyway. Bury on the other hand...
  8. OK they should do nothing. Even if the clubs go out of business they should just reform and look to get back to the league that expelled them. Do nothing to get back at Sky making a mockery out of people's lifes with countdown clocks. Is that what you want to hear?
  9. No sensitivity at all. Even when they give issues like this their full attention they treat it as light entertainment. Yet the day Ferguson drops dead it will be eulogy after eulogy for a vile bully who hated Jack Walker and represents everything what's wrong with football. Attacks on Dale (who has lukaemia anyway so at his age it might not be worth it) or in Bolton's case Anderson, etc wouldn't get much attention either. So what they should do at Bolton/Bury is go after those figures who the media eulogise and don't deserve any of it. Get revenge that way by taking out one of their heroes.
  10. What's it got to do with FUP lover Dolt? Isn't he usually sitting in some public house playing his condescending "man of the people" act? I've said myself that Rovers could market in Bolton (and it makes sense considering the support in the Preston are that's been noted) but on the other hand how can anyone say there's no guarantee it won't happen here. I'm not saying it will but it wouldn't exactly be a earth shattering surprise either.
  11. Not like he leaked a release clause to anyone either with the intent of screwing the club.
  12. Probably Richard Matthewman's suggestion when he still owned the Ribble Valley Inns chain. I rarely (as in practically never) enter public houses but I did a week ago. Was with someone else and while waiting for an appointment there wasn't really anywhere to go. That said I still didn't want to go in (even had it been raining hard) and had it been anyone else (including my Mother) I would have refused. So after entering this shockingly empty dump (two shifty looking people near door one of whom had a t-shirt saying anti-social) had a coke which I didn't pay for (in the can which is normal for me anyway but the glasses were probably dirty) and observed the place. Tired old decor, tired carpeting, tired seating and the only thing which looked modern were the Tv's which surprisingly enough were flat screens. There was also a coal fire for crying out loud and that wasn't even switched on. It was like going back in time to the 70's even though I wasn't alive then. No wonder the industry is struggling. I'm surprised the floor wasn't sawdust. How anyone below 60 would want to enter one of these places is beyond me.
  13. Hopefully some commemorative demonstration to mark the anniversary of Jack Walker's death today. Club have acknowledged on Twitter.
  14. Pretty much any defeat to that lot though last one strangely enough was one of only positive things that season. Due to performance and not getting a thrashing though I actually suggested fans get the game abandoned for maximum publicity against Venkys. Plus it sealed the end for Coyle though surely that decision had already been made before the game. It's strange too that the night of relegation in 1999 at least showed some fight (and didn't help Man United's title hopes though of course they won it anyway) unlike the Wigan game.
  15. I think we can say with certainty it wouldn't be worse than Kean. Obviously someone better than Berg, Voldemort or Coyle. As I've said several times the club should approach Jason Wilcox. Some people want Johnson but Wilcox is the one I would want. Mainly because (other than his credentials which are higher than Johnson's) if he was any good perhaps he wouldn't leave after 5 minutes. Can't say that for many people. Wilcox has said in the past that he regards Blackburn as home and in his case I don't disbelieve it. ...and people will say Venkys, etc or he wouldn't want to leave his current role. Or he's not expressed any interest in first management. Well people can ask for a start can't they? After that my approach would be what the New York Cosmos did to sign Pele (who admittedly is not quite comparable to Wilcox) and aside from the money the lead negotiatior said "I decided I was going to do it. That was all there was to it. It wasn't a question of whether shall we or shall we not. It was the obvious thing to do, so we bloody well do it. I'm afraid that's my attitude in life." Well that's my attitude as well. I've suggested Wilcox before and I will again unless more people do the same (because then I won't need to) because he's the right man with the right mentality and the right personality. If I was the one in charge of hiring managers I would constantly reach out to the point of pestering if needed. I guess part of it as well would be to see him succeed and then those who booed him as a player and didn't give him the respect he deserved will have no choice.
  16. If I was in charge the staff would probably go on strike but you need to rule with an iron fist especially in an industry full of snakes. I said even before the takeover (not constantly but occasionally) that you have to beware of snakes, etc and that there were probably people like that already at the club. I was called paranoid but look what happened with Agnew and to an extent Newsham. Kean of course and I'm pretty sure who (one of 3 people but all had motive) leaked the Parkes firing to the press to cause trouble. All the staff should be made to reapply for their jobs (not talking the players obviously or the manager who should be sacked anyway) which isn't illegal practice far as I'm aware. As for the manager running the club that could apply to previous regime as well. Jack Walker did have certain policies (players who he considered too old, etc) but he certainly didn't pick the team or anything like that. Not saying anyone would have to either but there's nothing wrong with bringing in sporting directors, etc as long as it's not Shebby Singh. As for Venus someone called him Val Venus other day. Val Venus and Mowbray Magoo that's what I'm gonna call them both from now on.
  17. ...and Craig Short but he improved tremendously. I guess you can only do so much when surrounded by incompetence.
  18. AFC Wimbledon were fined in the past for not referring to MK in the programme by the ever empathetic EFL. Also for calling them "MK" on the scoreboard minus dons. Well last night they just didn't print a programme (no longer compulsory anyway) and said the scoreboard was broke.
  19. Not a great result for Bassini in court today. I've read that the Bury owner Steve Dale has terminal leukaemia. It might be in remission at the moment but how do you threaten someone who's suffered severe illness that can return at any time. Maybe I watch Breaking Bad too much but what's more dangerous than someone who may have nothing to lose? Though I doubt anyone is going to actually kill him over his actions.
  20. If he knows that then he should resign. Or is it OK to sit and take the money for some people but not others? That's a question aimed at others. I suppose Mowbray isn't being incompetent on purpose or deliberately screwing anyone over but it's no excuse.
  21. Since everyone knew Ferguson was a bully anyway not sure what difference it made.
  22. They should have gone for Maradona. That's what I would have done. U**A Super Cup in Istanbul tonight where Liverpool of course won the "Champions" League in 2005. Unlike the Community Shield it won't be much of a game if Chelsea perform like they did on Sunday. Goodness knows what a top side like Liverpool could do to them in comparison if they go full strength. Chelsea aren't as bad as Sunday in general though.
  23. https://twitter.com/CallumRobinson7/status/1161539174169812992 Who's he again?
  24. Looks like Dave Richards has called Bassini a liar. Shock. No mention of Dave Sullivan or for that matter John Williams who Bassini claimed was on board also.
