aside from TM ringing up his mates at previous clubs (or probably them ringing him) i'd unfortunately agree. -

it was this line that killed me “We have spoken a lot about the recruitment department and wanting it to grow". Pretty much an acknowledgement that our recruitment dept is pants. -

two posts above Chaddy https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/rovers/news/17802331.rovers-turn-attention-overseas-defender-search/ Mowbray is keen to add up to two new defenders, and hopes to conclude them before the season opener against Charlton on Saturday. A season-long loan deal for Manchester City youngster Adarabioyo appears to have stalled. Fortuna Dusseldorf defender Robin Bormuth one of several under consideration, though the boss wouldn't be drawn on the identity of his targets. It’s alright trying to buy players from Gillingham and wherever else we were looking. We have been close with some signings but they aren’t easy. -

Anybody ask him (TM) about the two names (German/Croatian) doing rounds? -

So by the close of play today will we see a signing or will it ALL be dragged out to deadline day/loan deadline day. Scenario on deadline day: TM "We had a few irons in the fire but couldn't get them across the line in time, but we've sold Dack and Lenhan for peanuts so next January we might add some depth". -

Croatian's, Germans and Unicorns. Love the sudden optimism on here. Living in a fairy tale. A couple of loan signings and a few key player sales is probably more the reality unfortunately. -

13 million for Dack to spend in next window. Would that be a complete disaster?? Not sure how he's going to fit into current line-up this season. A luxury player/playboy?? I'd be more concerned at loosing Lenihan TBO. -

I think it's quite natural knowing our defence last season that supporters might be mildly concerned with lack of sighings in that dept. Not to mention that we have sold our keeper and can't seem to replace with a purchase of anyone with the same quality or above so have had to resort to the loan market. Not negative...just concerned that these gaps exist going into the season. I'd call it common sense to have these views.... -

6 months before sale of Jones UTD wanted to buy Jones but rovers refused agreeing to let him go at end of season. His contact was renegotiated and a clause inserted. Despite Liverpool bidding higher he went to Utd who some how new the terms of the release clause. How they knew, why the clause was inserted etc we can only speculate what is certain is venkys were less than impressed and tried to argue that we should receive more more net etc from sale. Again we can only speculate whether this was a factor in their loss of faith in sam/walker etc (exact times/dates etc not sure of long time ago) -

Big Sam certainly agreed a cut price sale of Jones to UTD and probably received a fat stuffed paper bag as a result. I recall Venkys were upset re:sale agreement in place and loosing on cheap -

Aside from the obvious gap of Rayas departure I am not as concerned re: current back/defence as last yr. obviously additions would be a huge improvement but let’s not forget how much pressure they were under due to a limited midfield. Latest additions mean we are likely to hold ball up and play higher up field etc. Again additions of end of season Of Nott forests finest/Gallagher this etc will hopefully mean we can use Danny g to hold ball up even higher/target man /ball holder in last 20 mins/conserve his energy. I can now see us confidently playing higher up field putting less pressure on back 4 etc and maybe seeing out matches with out leaking last minute goals as often so understand TM comments re: defence not the priority it was. Keeper another matter -

I'm guessing in fairness to TM. Raya was given enough chances to follow instructions/development for basic positioning/distribution etc. and ignored etc. TM became frustrated and opted for Leutwiler. I guess as a manager you have to feel that a player is listening to instructions/taking training/development on board and can move forward. If not i can imagine a manager might feel he has done all he can etc... However its probably an astute move to have someone lined-up if this is the case before moving a player on so mind boggles as to TM ACTUAL thought process rather than my hypothetical rants. -

I Look at all of this midfield talk and wish we had jumped in with a solid offer for john McGinn when we had the chance. Now there would have been a quality signing. Increased wages or not. -
