Transfer Window - COMPLETE. Where’s Gregg?
SBlue replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Whereas mine has said “He’s very good, not great around the box, couldn’t hit a barn door but confident on the ball and sharp as fuck. Bastards!” Only one way to find out! -

I think Macron will produce as many as we order, as soon as they can, when we decide to order them. I'm not 100% sure this would be their fault. -
£30 to watch Wigan Athletic I think I'll miss that one.

Shane Long is 35 and hasn't scored 15 goals a season in over a decade, and has only scored 15 in total in the last 6 years. Deal. -
Norway were a disgrace in that game, fair enough being beaten by the better side but looked to be lacking any effort at all

I always thought Gary Bowyer was pretty poor with money. I remember under "embargo" him lamenting that we could only offer 10k per week, and we ended up with Fode Koita and Sacha Petshi. Bet they couldn't believe their luck! Have to second what others have said about the young lads. They did really well, and will be useful squad members if they're not loaned out. I can see Vale and maybe Garrett breaking through in particular - but we definitely need some experience bringing in to help them. Only concern with Garrett is I can see him getting a lot of cards flying in like that, but he can slot into the "Davenport" role in the squad easily, hopefully with a bit more game time.

Yeah, my (positive) views on vaping notwithstanding - I honestly thought we could get someone bigger and/or better. No slight on TW, but I didn't think they'd have the kind of money we should be looking for. Perhaps I'm wrong, just seems convenient if not lazy. -

Gambling destroys lives. Smoking cessation devices don't. -
Can I just say thanks to all who have taken the time to provide reasonable and considered debate, in long form. Really interesting and appreciated.

Personally I enjoyed seeing Samba pummel his way through terrified defenders as Robinson dropped a beauty onto his head. Was pure theatre. But I like all of the ins and outs of football entertainment, shithousery, rough and tumble etc not just keeping it on the deck and getting the passing stats up for the sake of it. GET IT IN THE BOX TO THE BIG LAD

Even the very good Scandinavian players have realistic wages, and more often than not seem to adapt well over here. Throw in the draw of playing for JDT, Broughton's knowledge of his time there, and you can't blame people for thinking it would be a good and exciting place to start. I'd be fairly pleased if we just signed half the Malmo team tbh -
Two ways to look at that. If we're being generous, the most important part of the process for Waggott was the recruitment of the DOF, with the plan to give that person the opportunity to use their contacts and knowledge to build the management team as they require. I'm personally cautiously optimistic that they've smashed it with both the DOF and head coach role. Of course, I also wouldn't put it past him that he had absolutely not idea what the hell he was doing and accidentally struck gold with Broughton.

Check our net spend since they come in, £32m profit from player trading in the last 10 years. They keep the lights on yeah, but have asset stripped and invested nothing in the team. Don't know how they expect our situation to change, nor did I understand the "any other manager working with Mowbray's budgets" nonsense.
-
Nope, but I also don’t understand not being excited to play them.

An ageing overpaid squad that can only play Dycheball, without the Dyche. No manager at all in fact. A few out of contract too and plenty with an eye on the door. Their owners seem to swallow the PL money I’d be surprised if they set the league alight.

Ben Marshall - Under The Cosh Podcast #89

I think Brown is fine and seems to have enjoyed the dressing room here if not so much the games. He approaches it with good humour though and acknowledges he was crap. Can recommend the Sonny Pike one. I remember him well, being a similar age, when it was apparently nailed on that he was the next Ronaldinho at only 11 years old. Greg Dyke, and in particular Sonny's dad, were absolute twats with the boy but he seems to have made his peace with it. Great podcast. -

I can see Newcastle smashing a threadbare Burnley and Leeds getting at least a point. Fingers crossed. -
Of course we'll have loans. And looking at that, we'll need 'em.

You aren't the only straight person in an industry where thousands of kids look up to you either, Kenny, but I get your point. The lad has talked about wanting to be a role model and inspiration to other young people. Massively brave and commendable from someone so young, wish him all the best and hope it goes well for him. -
Yeah, he had loads of expensive players foisted on him by a Portuguese super agent acting as an advisor. Gives me the willies. I'm not saying he's a shit coach but he's achieved nowt over here in spite of all the money thrown at him, and there was enough went on at Wednesday in those early days (with him at the centre of it) that it gives me massive caution as to the long term health of the club. We've still got a massive, unguarded and naive backdoor with our current setup and I'm sure certain people will still be licking their lips. Rumours are just that though, and the people I've talked to about this might be full of BS. If he got it, he'd of course have my full support.
