  1. I’ve long thought Yates could be effective for us. And, Paddy McNair. Whether or not we could pay those guys to induce them to come to Rovers, I have no idea.
  2. No news on transfers, so I will throw out the fact we get burnley away in August & Preston away in Sept.
  3. Nope, I applaud the fans who show up, & spend hard-earned money on the club. They love Rovers more than they hate Venkys.
  4. Ridiculing fans who go to Ewood, to support their team, is not the answer. I don’t know what else the fans are supposed to do; staying away from Ewood hasn’t made Venkys decide to sell. It just hurts the club. Selling the smallest % of seats in the Championship just makes the club look bad. It’s not an attractive club, when almost every game, Ewood is more than half-empty. Hey, It’s the only Blackburn Rovers we will ever have. Other clubs have turd ownership, but their fans show up. Band together, protest outside the stadium and be loud about it, but show up.
  5. I think he said he’s excited 4 times; fans need to show up; & people for the club behind the scenes are working hard, etc. About what you’d expect.
  6. When I first became a fan of the club, Rudy came along, shortly thereafter. I loved watching Rhodes & Gestede (with kudos to Conway for whipping on those beautiful crosses!) However, hiring him as head of footie operations is a big risk. Rovers are teetering on the precipice of collapse & irrelevancy. I would’ve preferred an experienced hand in this area.
  7. I have a feeling our transfer business is going to be like several past seasons- wait until the season nearly begins, and bring in 2 or 3 players at the last second. I hope I’m wrong.
  8. I saw Rovers cut some prices. But, it’s not enough. Considering we fill the lowest % of our stadium of anybody in the Championship, the owners need to take that to heart, and do whatever it takes to get the fans in. Fans = money, especially, if you can get 'em when they're young.
  9. Signing these stopgap guys, McFaz & Ruddy, has no impact on the future of the club. I’d rather an U21 play, even with his mistakes of youth. I can’t see the old guys help us promote, or stay up. IMO
  10. I have no doubt in my mind, this is exactly how it will play out. We will be fortunate to buy one League 1 player, for £1-2 mil, ala, Szmodics. This plan is guaranteed to result in a relegation scrap. The idiocy of all this, is preceded by allowing players like Rothwell & Lenihan leave on a freebie. And selling off our most promising U21’s. who does this!? Blackburn Rovers. Time & again.
  11. My .02… The owners simply want to obtain the majority of the first team through the academy. I believe they are opposed to spending their money on both the academy, & quality, proven, Championship level, transfers.
  12. I’m afraid you’re right. We need Hedges, Siggy, & Trav back (if only for depth), but the roster still needs upgrades all over the place.
  13. I know it’s not a popular opinion, but I agree with you on Eustace. Detractors could say he got back several players Tomasson didn’t have, but JE really shored up the leaky defense (Bristol nightmare excluded).
  14. Wins on the road vs Leeds & Leicester, the year of Szmodics, but the rest of the season was very forgettable. Goodness knows what happens next season. I’m no prophet, but I’m afraid we’re in for some lean times.
  15. I just had a look at our bench, & Leicester bench. They could put five on the pitch now, better than anyone we have, except Sammie.
  16. I’m an outsider to the English game, growing up in Texas. I grew up thinking football began and ended with the University of Texas Longhorns (collegiate), and the Dallas Cowboys (pro). I only came into Rovers’ fandom in the last 11 years. This was well-written, objective, and one of the most enjoyable reads I’ve had on a long time. Not to mention, learning a great deal about Rovers & English footy history. You have made me an even bigger fan of both! Well-done, sir!
  17. Back to Leicester, they have almost nothing to be excited about, playing this game. If they play several starters, those guys are quality. Their reserves are better than some of our starters. If they play youth, those kids will try to impress. I expect a strong effort from our players. I don’t think we have much hope of getting a point, but if we do, we’re going to earn it.
  18. Looking at our assists leaders: Moran, 9; Brittain, 7; Gally, 6. (Believe it or not, but true!) I believe our starting 11 should remain the same, with the exception of Moran. We might lose a bit defensively, but there have to be better ways to get Sammie the ball.
