  1. Rev, where in any of this have I said I’m happy? We are in managed decline. It’s a fact. Look at the accounts and budgets, which diminish every year. I’m not shrugging my shoulders, but also, I don’t see the point in letting the fact that I despise what Venkys are doing, cloud every bit of my judgement. So, I’m my eyes, the window could’ve gone much better, but also could’ve gone much worse! Either way, I believe the squad is stronger now than it was on Jan 1st and so honestly, the only thing I need Eustace to do is his flipping job. He got us to 5th on a shoe string, now I expect him to finish the job! The end.
  2. It’s just spin mate. Most players being signed in January are leaving because they’re out of the team, out of favour, out of form. The be set players are being ‘taken’ from teams but Schlupp, BBD, O’Brien and even Danns are leaving because ultimately they can’t get in their own team, right? Adam Armstrong - the messiah according to some on here is leaving Southampton because he’s been absolutely crap. He’s also scored less goals than in the Premier League (a much harder league) than our new forward and yet you’ve chosen to focus on Dennis not playing when ultimately there’s not a lot he can do if his parent club have 60 odd players? . Both pov’s are valid, you’re just choosing to focus on the negative. In truth, there’s not much to choose between Dennis and Armstrong, but at a push, removing the romance of a return, I’d say Dennis is a better player. I don’t know what Eustace is happy with. If he knew we had the square root of fuck all to spend then he might look at the lads we’ve signed and be delighted?! 🤷🏽‍♂️ As a fan, I’m not happy because I think we should’ve invested at least £10m in fees this January. No one is saying we should be happy. But by hook or by crook, it would seem to me that the squad which started and finished January in 5th is now stronger than it was when the transfer window opened. How much stronger will be revealed over the next few weeks, but in the meantime, I’m focusing on what this group can achieve. As JE’s biggest supporter, from this position, having got to Feb in 5th and added to the squad, if we don’t finish in the top 6, it’s as much on him as anyone else. We’ve got players returning and new enforcements. Get on with it, I say!
  3. Ffs mate, what part of this don’t you understand? The recruitment team, have to find the best players they can WITHIN the budget. If possible, leave your I FUCKIN HATE VENKYS hat off for a minute (It’s hard, I know) and look at what theyve managed to do with the square root of nowt!? As for the rumours, did any of it come from the club? I mean, it’s likely that we did fancy Danns but where of any note are you hanging your hat on us making a serious play for Schlupp? Bamford? BBD? So in essence you’re judging the new signing against mythical scenarios and then deciding they’re all shit, based on that fantasy!? Crazy. No one is saying it’s perfect. We’d all like a better budget, we’d all like better players. The blame for that lies squarely on Venkys. But what we are saying is that based on the perceived spending power, the recruitment team have actually managed to improve the squad depth, and dependant on what JE gets out of them, could have significantly improved the quality. The club is fucked. We’re in managed decline and who knows where it all will end up. But, I’m confident that the team and manager who got us to 5th are now better equipped to at least maintain that form. If they can improve on it, then even better. Its not ‘happy clapping’ it’s common sense and perspective.
  4. Just pure assumptions…you probably said the same about Gueye, Ohashi, Beck and Baker in the summer. Yet the team is 5th in the league, so honestly it’s just hot air! What all of your babbling on never takes into account is that the sun of the parts is greater than the whole. Absolutely, we’d like premium players who have documented previous successes. But we’re not in that market, and in any case there’s no guarantees. For me - the squad that is currently 5th in the league with 16 games to go is stronger. How much stronger, we will only know in a few weeks when these players begin to perform. Anyone can lean on the negative narrative and find faults. I’m ready to leave all the excuses to one side and watch these lads push on. What if they’re all shit, you ask? Me - “And what if they’re all fuckin amazing?”
  5. Yeah, I think so too. It’s all about what JE can get out of the new lads to the end of the season. I wouldn’t bet against him! Exactly! So, if neither of them play that much, then the signings have been a success and my bet is that we’re in the top 6!
  6. Yeah, I think so too. It’s all about what JE can get out of the new lads to the end of the season. I wouldn’t bet against him!
  7. Thanks - I think Dennis, Kargbo and Weimann can play anywhere across those front 3 positions. Woodrow prob more suited to #10 Based on this, it will be one of Pickering or Wharton who gets de-registered. Makes sense to pick the one who’s least likely to play again this season. Think I remember hearing Wharton targeting pre-season next year as his comeback?
  8. Your point about Gueye is really interesting. He does tend to drop in and collect the ball deep. Which is why getting the likes of Kargbo and Dennis as wide forwards to run past him is going to be key.
  9. Yep, agreed! Subs - Toth, JRC, Sanderson, Forshaw, Kargbo, Weimann, +Kids
  10. I think Woodrow is more of a 10 than a 9 tbf. Quite a technical player with a great long distance shot on him from what I can remember. I see him as a more offensive 10 than Cantwell. Dennis can play across the front three positions, as can Kargbo from what I’ve read, but I’d expect, with their pace, he may try them as wide forwards playing off Gueye? If nothing else it will be interesting to see how he puts Cantwell, Kargbo, Dennis, and Gueye together. Then we’ve got Ohashi to come back and cameo’s from Weimann and Woodrow? Heres a prediction - If Hedges and Dolan start 5 or less of the last 16 matches, the signings have worked and we’ll finish in the top 6. 🙏🏽
  11. Thanks - I’ll correct 👍🏼
  12. On first glance, I’d say… ✅Sanderson - is a good signing to cover as 4th cb with Carter due back, ❌ Forshaw - Defo not good enough to replace Baker who was deemed 1st choice, after Sonny and Trav. The only positive is Buckley having stepped up. ❓✅ Kargbo - Has been scouted heavily and pursued by the club. Seems to play off the left, is quick and direct. But an unknown quantity. ❓✅ Ribeiro - Brought in as cover to the end of the season. Good pedigree and experience. Time will tell but looks perfectly acceptable. ❓Woodrow - *Reaches for tin hat. I always liked him at Barnsley, best played as a second / deeper striker as he’s technical and can finish. I can see him potentially rotating with Cantwell and IF JE can get a tune out of him he’ll be far more of a threat behind Gueye. That said, I can see why some are not entirely happy with him. I don’t think the style of play at Luton is suited to him. ❓✅ Dennis - I remember him in the PL for Watford popping up with goals but I can’t remember if he’s quick or not. Reliably informed he is, and having signed for Forest for £20m and with reported £70k a week wages, this is a coup. We need to get him up to speed and with a point to prove!! If all fit, and firing I’d play: Pears Brittain. Hyam. Batth. Beck Travis. Sonny Dennis. Cantwell. Kargbo Gueye Subs - Toth, JRC, Ribeiro, Carter, Buckley, Dolan, Weimann, Woodrow, Ohashi Sanderson, Siggy and Hedges don’t even make that bench but could easily be rotated in based on form, injuries and opinion. On the face of it, we do look stronger. Shame we’ve dropped so many points in Jan, but time to look forward, no excuses. We’ve got a cracking chance to get in the playoffs! RTID 💙
  13. Tbf no one would’ve known a thing about any signing, but for Ribeiro side leaking the story on the left back. So, it’s possible that there’s a lot of ongoing work for a player that no one knows about….I hope! I also think Mafoumbi going out is relevant. 🤞🏽
  14. It John wants Bamford, he can have him!
  15. Great understanding - Though apparently it was Waggott who decided to engineer GB and JDT’s removal. He approached JE and negotiated the deal. Suhail doesn’t do anything operationally, he just gives the yay or nay!
  16. Originally it was a straight cash deal. Then we went rogue and negotiated a loan with an obligation / option…THEN we didn’t press send! 🙈
  17. Yes, when they offered him the job, he was told that the money that had been earmarked for McGuire was in the bank and he could spend it, if he kept us up. My belief is that they lost patience with GB and JDT before deadline day and sabotaged that deal whilst tapping JE up.
  18. I actually think he looks really uncomfortable in this clip. Smiling with a grimace. Could be that he doesn’t want to give too much away. Honestly, I’m farrrrr from a pessimist. But I know he offered his resignation in the summer when they pulled the rug from under him, having promised him the McGuire cash if he kept them up. I PRAY that the striker is one he wants, and I would prioritise JE’s happiness over my opinion on their quality, because them signing some obscure 28yr old Mali international will not cut it. We might be about to piss all over our own chips with Eustace. We likely already have…🙈
  19. Ok, could it be that the reason we’ve heard about Yuri (a left back) is because his side have broke the news?
  20. I know I shouldn’t bite, but there’s a chance that if Yuri is a real target, then it could be that this is just the first one to reveal itself…🤷🏽‍♂️
  21. interesting - I wonder how this plays out! How many do you think we will sign before the window shuts?
  22. Dolan frustrates the life out of me. He can never just take a touch and pass. Always has to take 3 or 4 touches and try the ‘Hollywood’ pass. If I was his manager I’d make him play two touch for a month and fine him every time he went over it….🤣 On Kargbo, there’s lots of questions coming from Serie B and no guarantees of anything, but I don’t think we’re going to see in show boating from him. Get it, pop it off and get on your bike!!
  23. Baby steps mate. Buckley has been shite for years in spite of his obvious talent. So personally I’m prepared to swallow those petulant fouls for performances like that. Yesterday, the axis between him and Trav was very good and when on form, he has a range of passing that neither Trav or Sonny have.
