January Transfer window 2022

Tbh…your sentiments on DL were shared by SW. He’d told DL’s lot to “watch the Fulham game” if they wanted proof 🙈…I’m still pretty shocked by how candid he was. -

That’s assuming a new manager hasn’t agreed to them? They’d be fairly cheap and on the day so of the head of recruitment….🤷🏽♂️ -

From that conversation with Waggot, I didn’t get the impression we were going to blow our brains out on players though he did talk about “getting a few on pre-contracts for next season”. He was also adamant that none would be leaving for free in the summer and that they’d be working hard to sell anyone who didn’t sign extensions. He felt JR and RN would sign as they were both keen and it was agents hanging on for more money. He also said that DL was less likely as he thought he could get a move to the Prem. Based on that conversation and the injury to Poveda I’d say they’ll get a couple on pre-contracts, Hedges and Souttar. A loan / cheap winger to replace Poveda and potentially replace any sales. Wouldn’t surprise me if they get another Striker either but that’s just a hunch. So, 2-4 signings in Jan depending on sales and then another 2 or 3 on pre-contracts from Scotland ready for the summer. John Parks at the centre of it all. -
For me…. kaminski Nyambe Lenihan Ayala Pickering Trav Edun Poveda Bucko Dolan BBD Davenport unlucky and I wouldn’t be against him for Edun. Dolan has been arguably our best player this season (with Bucko) so returns. Poveda the best player on the park vs Sheff Utd and keeps his spot. Subs - Pears, Wharton, Davenport, Johnson, Rothwell, Khadra, Butterworth **Wharton, Rothwell and Khadra to start at home vs Peterborough on Wednesday and then back to this team again away at Stoke on Saturday. Exciting week!

Matty, I can see you’re a reasonable guy. So why do people have such a hard time taking / feeling responsibility mate? All I said is that having watched the video I felt shame. That I felt booing him (a teenage boy) was an all time low as a fanbase. That’s my opinion… The fact that it absolutely infuriates certain people (not you) is a reflection on them.
-
I say it exactly as I see it….And yet, it only ever seems to upset the same group of you. Weird that hey? Like a pack of hyenas rushing to ‘like’ each other’s posts. Always angry, always bitter….relax lads 👍🏼.
-
You think that’s the only negativity he’s had? Wow… like I said, I just hope Ben has had a positive enough experience overall and we can get a few quid for him when the time is right.
-
If you feel that grown men booing teenagers is not shameful then we’re on a different page. Watch the video, he’s just a kid really who ‘we’ made cry because he wasn’t playing well!?
-
I still think we need a change of direction and voice in the dressing room in spite of any potential success that the manager might have upto January. On a separate topic, I watched the Brereton Diaz short film about his rise and I have to say it is amazing. There’s also a sense of shame as a Rovers fan as to how he was judged. The booing of him a year or two ago is probably an all time low for us as a fan base. I hope he’s had a positive enough time with the club to sign an extension and that he continues to develop. The fee we eventually receive from his sale is important to us.
-
Why are we all getting our knickers in a twist about how ‘unprofessional’ it may or may not have been? It’s of no consequence to us. Surely the information is more important to us as fans to discuss? Ie - who might we replace Lenihan with? What will be the consequence of potentially losing 2 or 3 of the players mentioned this Christmas? How close is Mowbray to leaving?
-
To be clear, he didn’t give any personal information about anyone (numbers etc). He did provide his take on things. No I wouldn’t divulge information about my employees to strangers. But technically supporters of a football club are stakeholders, not strangers. Would I divulge some information as an update to stakeholders, yes I would.

Yes, that was me….Yesterday I took a friend (Sheff U fan) as a thank you. To be fair he just came across really straight. I asked some pretty probing questions and he answered them. I wish you had grabbed him too…I wanted to ask more about our plans for next season. As for the unprofessional vs refreshing argument….for me (as a fan) it was refreshing. I’ve found them both really honest when I’ve spoken to them. Waggot yesterday shared his opinions on several of our players and what they could and couldn’t do. Was it unprofessional on his side? I don’t know really….I suppose it’s a matter for him but if he’s saying the same thing to everyone (including those players) then maybe that’s just his way?
-
God knows if what was being said was true. But after the Mowbray bit I specifically asked about the contract situ and that was his answer…as you say, I was just passing it on 👍🏼
-
His words were “Tony was really brave with that team selection and his job on the line”. If I’m honest, I have now spoken to both Mowbray and Waggot on separate occasions and been surprised each time with how open they have been about players and the club etc. It’s actually refreshing. Rev, if I was bothered what anyone on here thought I’d be long gone. I was surprised at his openness as I have been when I’ve spoken to Mowbray in similar situations.
-
I’ve always found him very amenable, knowledgeable and honest in the two or three times I’ve briefly spoken to him. I can see there’s a few getting their knickers in a twist about one of my posts. As I’ve said before, when a set of FACTS irk you so much it’s usually telling you something about yourself more than anyone else….in any case I am surprised so many are bitter about my age? Maybe they all wanna look this youthful 😉🤣🤣🤣✌🏽
-
They were just a set of facts that were relevant, in context of the allegation Gav. If it created an emotion in you then that says more about you than it does about me. 👍🏼
-
Yeah, I’ll hold my hands up, I’m 40yrs old, married, 2 nearly 3 kids, own and run a business which employs 700 people and I made all that up, because I’ve nothing better to do with my time 👍🏼

Was raving about Buckley but then everyone in there was raving about him…he outshone every other midfielder on the park today, including Fleck and Norwood!
-
I don’t think SW is either!! 🙈…..though he said the offer to him was “very good”. Said no one would be leaving on a free and we’d be selling any who hadn’t signed.
-
SW said he’d told Lenihan the same. Asked all three if they felt they’d get into Fulham’s team…intimated that none of them would before pointing out that as good as Fulham are in the championship they’ll get hammered in the Prem….says the players (Rothwell & Nyambe) want to sign but the agents are deluded.
-
Had we been beaten, I’m sure of it!
-
No, but I believe he’d have been gone if we’d been hammered today….it’s coming!
-
They’re expecting Rothwell and Nyambe to sign but Lenihan has turned down a BIG offer and thinks he’ll get a Prem club…SW said anyone who hasn’t signed before Xmas will be sold and replacements are lined up plus pre contracts abroad and in Scotland.
-
I spoke with Steve Waggot today after the game. It’s true that TM hasn’t taken any training since the defeat. He’s been in meetings. But he did pick the team - SW said that he was surprised with how attacking it was because “his (TM) job was on the line” Wouldnt be drawn on it any further. But did provide an update on the soon to be out of contract lot….Interesting.
