They’re stuck between a rock and a hard thing mate. Get this appointment wrong just to make sure you sign ‘Barry Bannan on a free’ is a far worse option. The manager and DOF appointed in the next few days, a week will shape the progress of the team for the next 1-5yrs. It needs to be got right. Also, I don’t think there’s many signings flying about, most players and managers are on holiday.

Let’s chill….a process like this can easily take 4 weeks. If ‘the plan’ was to go through a rigorous process of application and two part interview then they’re likely just on with it, the bank holidays this week won’t have helped with banks, solicitors etc shut down. There’s nothing wrong either with shortlists growing if great candidates come on the market. The main focus is to get the right man and as far as I can see, the two primary targets haven’t committed to anyone in spite of the media speculation. Let’s see who we get 👊🏼

I’d be happy to give Carvalhal, Farke, Beale, Ferguson, Carrick, Manning or Critchley a chance following a proper recruitment process….I’m not keen on regurgitation of the Hughton’s of this world but, nevertheless, my ticket is renewed. The number of people on here who swore they’d never step foot in Ewood if Mowbray stayed and are now making the same threats with various potential managers is embarrassing.

Ok, so I don’t know anyone in the Venkys family…but I do know he and his staff were expecting to be sacked LAST March and that it was widely believed by THEM that Wilder and Neill had been interviewed….I don’t know why they didn’t sack him. I also know that Venkys have been burned before by outgoing managers suing (and winning) awarded pay outs for employment law issues, hence why the cleanest way is to say it’s started now….but based on what happened 12 months ago and what the likes of @glen9mullan have said about contact with Farke in March, that the line they’re spinning is not correct.

The snobbery around lower league / untested managers in here is odd considering most of us genuinely believe that we know something about football. Laziness at best… We know that there’s a LOT of managers in the Championship, and even some in the Premier League who are stealing a living. Who move from job to job doing ‘meh’ jobs and yet somehow manage to get another one.. There is a lot of talent in the lower leagues who are up and coming. Some of whom are held back by the bottle neck created by the average Joes (as above). Because chairman don’t want to gamble on something exciting and fresh which might come back to bite you and instead lean towards a Chris Hughton because if it doesn’t work out, they can say “Wait, I went for proven quality” IF, and that’s a huge IF we have done our due diligence then I think there’s scope for going after fresh, new manager who is ready to be the next Eddie Howe! Fingers crossed we have. I 💯believe they’ve been in the market and looking for a manager for 12 months 🤞🏽

Apologies, yes it was after the Sheff Utd game 👍🏼

Probably because we beat Forest and went on 5 game winning run I’d imagine? 🤷🏽♂️

Well he believed he had the power to sack Mowbray after the Forest game and this was after March 21 which would lead me to think he was a part of the plan to replace Mowbray initially. Also, Mowbray refers to ‘Mr Waggott’ and ‘the men in suits’ as one in an ‘us and them’ context….so I’m assuming Swag IS in the know, even if he’s leaving too!

Here’s my take / opinion based on a few bits I’ve heard and reading between the lines… So, I KNOW that the training ground was rife with rumours last March that TM was gone at the end of the season, everyone knew. I also heard whispers that they’d interviewed and had maybe chosen one - I suspected Wilder or Neill but never had any confirmation. For some reason, it didn’t happen. Maybe it was the candidates choice, maybe the clubs choice in terms of the timing for FFP or maybe Venkys decided against it? Who knows? But I do think there was a plan (of sorts) hatched then… The cutting back, not investing in the summer or in particular at Christmas and the lack of any contact with TM was telling especially with the sale of Arma and the training ground money which puts us in a much better situation from this summer. I also recall the conversation I had with Waggott after the Forest game when he openly said TM would’ve been sacked if we’d capitulated again like Fulham. Those conversations are signs that the relationship is dead really. Then we had our hiatus and with it, Waggott and Venkys went quiet. Tony isn’t in the circle of trust anymore. So, my take is that there’s a plan to restructure this summer, new manager, new regime and money to spend (FFP clear). How good that plan is, who will take it forward, how much money will be spent and how successful it will be are anyones guess. But I do feel the next few weeks will be interesting, if nothing else!

Haha - I don’t know fuck all other than they had someone lined up last year around March. It fell through for some reason and then a few in here started talking about some masterplan with a new coach and loads of cash…the stuff Glen is talking about. I think Darren Rover or Mercer too?
-
It’s reset I think…perfect point financially to bring in a new manager and back him.
-
I heard about this supposed ‘Masterplan’ last March. I don’t know what or who it involves but I think Mercer or Rev had some insight too?

None taken, we’re all used to people on here reading things and then applying their own lense and putting 2+2 together to get 5. So, in the interests of clarity. Joe Rothwells Dad was on the train to Coventry City and interjected a group of Rovers fans discussing (slagging) the team off. Began the conversation with “Hey, don’t talk about my lad like that….” then went on to say everything in my last post. That did happen, fact. This has been further corroborated by two or three other posters on here, who as far as we know have independently backed up those claims. Him saying this stuff is pretty standard and NOTHING like the Trippier stuff. Odd that you’ve made that link. So, feel free to cast aspersions on the character of Rothwells Dad if you like. The truth is that he didn’t really give a fuck about speaking out. His lad had been denied a potential chance to x4 his wages and has pretty much downed tools since January anyway. He’ll 100% not be playing for us next season. I appreciate there are some on here who just don’t want to believe it because it jars with their understanding of how football / life works. That’s fine, iv just tried to give as much info as possible about a conversation which did actually occur.

In the interests of clarity to those who are addressing the WBA rumour. I’m pretty sure it’s come from a few of people on here who were all sat in a carriage en route to the Coventry game a few weeks ago with Joe Rothwells Dad. He said the following: - Bournemouth had bid £3.5m rising to £6m if they were promoted for JR at Christmas. - Mowbray wanted the cash at Christmas to strengthen and Venkys refused it. - JR has a x4 wage increase offer on the table with Bournemouth vs Rovers offer. - The general training / coaching at Rovers is average - Venus deals with the contracts but is a troublemaker - Venus on behalf of Mowbray is advising the out of contract players not to sign deals with any other clubs because they’re going to WBA in the summer and could offer them a better one. This is what Rothwells Dad said. Full transparency. Make what you want of it…the two or three posters on here who’ve passed that info are just the messengers.

Yes, a friend of mine applied for an advertised job on the coaching team last March / April and was told the position had been “put on ice” as there was an expectation that TM was to be removed. Was also told that candidates had been interviewed (suspected Neill and Wilder) - obvs this didn’t happen most likely because were an absolute basket case of a club but also likely because TM & SW spun this tale of Covid etc… This reason why I think (and hope) it’s different this time is because I believe there’s and appetite on both sides to call it a day. 🤞🏽

No way mate….watch any of his interviews in the last month or so. He talks in the third person.. ”These players and the fans must continue this journey..” blah blah I would be astonished if they’re not all gone (announced before the last game)
-
He isn’t staying on guys. I’m completely convinced….don’t believe there’s an appetite on either for that to happen. The ‘open secret’ came from members of the squad who are being tapped up and advised not to sign new contracts elsewhere by Veno (Who is apparently a troublemaker) so that Mowbray and his team can make them offers once installed at WBA. No suggestion that they’re telling them not to sign Rovers contracts but by the sounds of it that’s just purely financial. JR offered 4x what Rovers are and likely PL football whilst RN’s offer from Rovers is apparently a joke (Very low). The only one we have a chance with is DL…but I think he’ll wait for Tony et al to turn up at WBA and at least double his current offer 🙁
