Mowbrays Successor
Paul Mani replied to Darwen Rover 007's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
He’s done well albeit with a huge budget! -
Like I said, nothing is impossible abd things change everyday...but the intention is there.

“Soon” 🤞🏽

Haha - wash your mouth out! Nixon blocked me back in the day when I told him we were signing Rhodes and he knew nothing of it!! Mate, anything can happen but they are all plugged into Venkys via Suhail and I’m pretty sure they won’t be here next week.

Great post, but I disagree on Nyambe. Let’s see. -

I agree to a certain extent though I think the clamour is more to do with people’s dislike of the current regime (The Coventrio). A young player (with potential) who is running his contract down is a decent stick with which to beat them with. But in order to do so, you have to make him out to be the new Cafu!! Haha....I understand that completely but I don’t think there’s a top player in Nyambe. His relative success imo is borne out of his physical attributes because his ability (both defensively and offensively) is average and his positioning even worse. I see much more potential in the likes of JRC, Butterworth (If he can get fit), Buckley, Wharton, Brereton and Davenport Id also like to see some more of Pike, McBride and Carter next season. As a model with a mid level budget in the Championship, I would like to see us spend a little more on the first 11 and then strip out the fat between the first 11 and these promising young players...the Holtbys, Evans, Bennett’s, Williams types. We have a great chance this summer to do exactly that. Hope we don’t buy a load more squad fillers. -

He’s not great. The love in for Nyambe is because of his contract ending...if you watch and understand football which we all do then you have to put your hand on your heart and accept that he’s pretty average. -
Fully expecting them to be gone by next week.

I’m more interested in what happens after the Birmingham game...🤞🏽👀🥊 -
Nah not really pal. Would be absolutely gutted if we lost JRC or Rothwell, who are also yet to sign contracts. There’s no conspiracy theory here. Some fans (me included) just don’t think RN is that good. I haven’t seen enough of Pike to know if he’s ready but JRC plus another would be fine by me 👍🏼 Hope to see some young lads get a game today. Mcbride, Dolan and Pike to play some part.. Buckley, Trav and Davenport to start in midfield.

I don’t see a footballer in him. He has the raw physical attributes of a 100m sprinter but I haven’t see a proper footballer. He’s both defensively and attacking inconsistent. From the sublime to the ridiculous. I think there’s some decent coaches at Rovers. I just don’t think RN is great. Not a bad’un by any stretch. Just average.
-
The communication between India and the Ops team is fairly strong. There’s very little that they propose which isn’t signed off over there....I’m wishful as a Rovers fan, yes. But I KNOW that the Comms and spending have been stopped. The pitch is a public example of that but it’s more obvious around ongoing projects which have also been halted. No one can be 100% sure if it will happen or not. But ‘they’ are expecting a change..
-
That’s it though, I doubt he’s going anywhere. He’s got a year trigger on his contract and who’s parting with decent money for him?
-
He’s physically a man mountain! But I don’t see any footballing intelligence. He’s out of position a lot and fairly average on the ball. As I said before, genuinely believe if he had 5yrs on his contract there’d be a lot wanting him replaced.
-
Maybe start with RN and then bring Pike on or vice versa. Wouldn't be averse to dropping Nyambe. Unpopular opinion, but I don’t rate him...if he had 5yrs on his contract I believe he’d get much more criticism. His contract situation is an opportunity for people to raise his profile and beat the club with imo. lots of potential that hasn’t yet come to fruition.
-
There’s a lot of fighting talk and pushing out of the narrative that he’s speaking to and targeting players...he probably is. But the silence is DEAFENING from India. Zero being signed off...until that changes my money is 100% on a new broom for a new season!
-
Sure!! I’d look at Pike too...
-
I reckon a comfortable win. Be a cracking game to blood some young lads but I can’t see it.

If Mowbray is chatting to players then it’s a due diligence thing on his part for the event that there’s a U-turn (who knows with V’s). It’s common place for them to have conversations like “Listen, I really like you as a player. If we’re here next season then....” BUT I can safely say no one expects the same management team to be in place next season. It’s also expected to be resolved very soon.
