They must’ve done their numbers!? Im waiting for Joe or one of our other top guys to run a predicted 25 to see who makes the cut and which players aren’t included in the numbers (u21 / academy etc)....My heads spinning now!

Interesting. See I also agree that he’ll be lickin his lips at the prospect of Douglas swinging crosses to the back post for Gally to throw himself at....but he’s loving this new set up and I think he’ll want to get on the training ground with them both first. Maybe he’ll throw them both on at some point. See if it clicks.. If Rothwell isn’t fit I’m almost certain it will be Evans Johnson Buckley which is more balanced. Evans fitness is a pain but when fit he very rarely lets us down imo. Trybull is a 6 (Pivot) by all accounts. Plays at the base of the three, breaks play up and distributes. He’s covering Johnson who won’t be able to play twice a week until Christmas and based on last season could just fizzle out completely. Davenport, if he can kick on is a natural successor for Johnson next season. Trav, Holtby, Rothwell, Evans and Buckley are 8’s. High energy, ‘up and downers’ with varied skills sets..(Evans and Trav more combative whilst the others are more creative). Nit sure how I’ve got into 6’s and 8’s ?? but it’s clear we’re trying to emulate something like Klopps Liverpool...

Just read that...I’m one of those who wanted Downing back. He was our best player until Covid imo - but where on earth does he fit into a 25 man squad with the depth we now possess?
-
I still genuinely believe both of those players will play a part in our success this season.
-
Can’t see him throwing Douglas or Trybull in From the start without a full days training. Either way, what’s good is that even with Travis, Holtby and potentially Rothwell out we still have some good options left in Johnson, Trybull, Buckley, Davenport and Evans. That’s 7 players for 3 spots...once Trav gets back they’re going to have to release Davenport on loan imo.
-
Same...bench Stergiakis Wharton Douglas Evans Trybull Chapman Gally
-
No pal...another year in League 1 it is for Donnys version of Pirlo!
-
Pffffft - don’t suggest anything other than a Brentford masterclass pal. Watkins and Benrahma for £60m vs Ivan Toney and a couple of others...and a guaranteed to finish above us apparently...?
-
I’ve read on from the Liverpool journos and Sharpe that Liverpool never planned to let him go until we submitted a detailed plan for Elliott...that’s top class!!
-
Love the fact we’ve gone to Liverpool with our case for Elliott. Shows our growing reputation with young players and the trust that the likes of Klopp and Liverpool have in our set up.
-
??? only thing you’ve had to say
-
I honestly couldnt care less what you think. You’re probably pissed off you’ve nothing to moan about too ??
-
Utter rubbish. You don’t know what he earns or anything about him. Turn it in.
-
-
I’d say rotating Dolan and Elliott at 18 and 17 respectively is a fantastic option...
-
I do think it’s different this season in that we genuinely need two players for each position. We now have this in spades...big chance!
-
He’s a winger mate. Keep up will ya
-
Exactly if we’d signed him on a two year contract they’d be disgusted too!! ??♂️???
-
Don’t listen to that guy pal. You’re better than that.
-
He’s out of contract in the summer ?
-
We’re obviously after a top loan of a wide forward / winger and have negotiations ongoing with Bolasie, Elliott and god knows who else....FFFUUUUCCKK this is exciting!
-
I think he tinkers when he can’t find the formula. Once he find it (eg 4231 the year we got out of League 1), then the team seems to pick itself as it did that year. Theyve worked for roughly 12 months on this transition to high octane, possession based play in a 433...it seems to be just about bearing some fruit...so fingers crossed. As for Gally, who knows? I think he’d be better down the middle but in my mind I keep seeing swirling crosses from Douglas on the left and Gally steaming in at the back post leaping half a body above the defender before sending a crashing header....but then the vision ends...does he hit the net or not? Guess we’ll see!
-
No, I think (assuming these three get done today) that pound for pound, we’ve had the best window in the Championship this summer. We need to stay in the top 6 for as long as possible and get comfortable in there imo. In Ayala, Douglas and Trybull he’s brought in three players at an average age of 29 with I think 6 promotions out of Championship between them. Kaminski freshly back from International duty is 27....and Dolan...well Dolan is a brilliant added bonus. We HAVE to get in the top 6 this year. Best team on paper: Kaminski Nyambe Lenihan Ayala Douglas Travis Johnson Holtby Dolan Dack Arma We still have a full XI chomping at the bit behind them - Pears / Stergiakis, JRC, Williams, Wharton, Bell, Rothwell, Trybull, Buckley, Chapman, Gally and Brereton. And then Bennett, Evans, Butterworth, Vale, Carter, Davenport etc... No excuses.
-
I think Trybull is cover for Johnson. It’s a tough role to play as the pivot in a three man midfield. We then have Trybull, Evans and Buckley covering Johnson, Holtby and Rothwell. I can see Evans going in Jan when Travis is fit, or for £1m today before being replaced by Downing. Gutted for Davenport. Obv not trusted to step up. Would ideally need to go out into the bottom of the champ and play 30 games in a midfield three before coming back next season as Johnson’s successor. Hope he’s got it in him.

We would need someone to step up just like Arma did when Dack got injured. Not so long ago there were Rovers fans who who were unsure if AA could even be counted as a ‘good’ signing when reeling them off... These young lads just need time. Hopefully Arma holds off any injuries until Dack is back but I genuinely think Gally in the middle of the three in this team might get going. Especially with some good deliveries into the box.
