TRANSFER THREAD - JANUARY 2021
Paul Mani replied to Hoochie Bloochie Mama's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I have seen a bit of Whiteman and he looks good in league 1. But I wouldn’t spend 7 figures on him right now because I genuinely don’t think he’d play in front of Trav, Rothwell, Holtby, Johnson or Trybull. All of the above have better credentials and experience. I’m more excited at the potential of Davenport and Buckley. Hope it works out for BW. My gut tells me he’ll be a middle of the road Championship CM. Lets talk about Rovers. Where the f@&k are our cb’s!!? 🙈... -

Whiteman is going in as the star of Prestons show. Good luck to the lad. I don’t think he’d get a game with us tbh...he better / more effective than Travis? Holtby? Rothwell?. No chance. Hopefully he does great and fulfills his potential. Tbf I couldn’t give a shiny shit about Preston. Be a couple in here excited about this deal though...👀🤣🤣 -

There must be two coming in if Carter has gone...MUST be! -

Big Sam came out saying they needed to spend money on players who were “better” than they have currently...I think Kipre is a shoe in to come to Rovers. I also think if he comes and Sam performs his usual great escape then he’ll probably end up signing on a permanent deal in the summer. -
Birmingham - Away, Sat 2nd Jan

Not really. It’s his job to make that decision. That’s why you have dedicated threads to sack a manager and not “sack the medical team” or “sack the analyst”....the buck stops with Mowbray. What it does tell you (if true) is that Mowbray needed to win that game yesterday. Which is interesting... -

I just hope we go for experienced ‘men’ not youngsters. Looks like Kipre is one. -

Yeah, with Dack to come on in the ‘10’ position...potentially for Gally with Elliott moving out wide. Quick one...why start Trav and not Dack? -

Looks like 4231 to me... Douglas Lenihan Johnson Bell Travis Davenport Gallagher Elliott Brereton Armstrong -
Mowbrays Successor

I think the team is missing ‘men’. We had the likes of Short, Flitcroft and Dickov the last time we went up. This team is full of absolute pussies. I’d have pulled Holtby off 20 mins after he come on last night. Bell, Douglas, Ayala, Rothwell, Holtby, Elliott and Brereton are all soft as shite. What about this...Pulis installed, Sell AA for £25m and let him buy 4/5 big, horrible bastards to compliment what we’ve got....? -
Absolutely horrible. Languid, ugly football.

Bristol City v Rovers. Wed 9th Dec. 7.45pm
Paul Mani replied to darrenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Unlucky lads, wasn’t meant to be. We’re a good team but we need to get better at grinding these 1-0’s out if we’re going to get in the top 6. Refusing to single lads out. A few weren’t up to it but we could’ve nicked one and we’d have all been happy. Gotta stay in touch with the top 6 by the end of this month. Get Dack and Trav back and see what we can do! NEXT!! -

Lenihan got some hammer but I don’t know what else he could’ve done. Had to make an attempt, both players tussling, Toney went down. It was a really soft decision imo. We had to challenge it on principle! -

The key here for us is who is fit and who isn’t...I can see maybe Dolan and Holtby coming in for Elliott and Johnson to have a rest. Im not sure on the Douglas knock but hopefully he’s fit? Otherwise it’s looking like Nyambe, Ayala, Williams and Bell. The first three would arguably be a lot of fans first choice considering the brilliant form of Williams and inconsistency of DL. So let’s go there and get them beat. Coyb -

Great point. Next game comes up quickly. Be interesting to see what we have left out the injuries and suspensions when the dust settles. -

Shame this. We were 100% the better team before the sending off. Damage limitation now. Most importantly, no more injured or sent off please. Thankfully, promotion won’t be win or lost today! Come on boys!! -
Rovers v Millwall. Wed 2nd Dec 7.45pm
Paul Mani replied to darrenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Fantastic result. Next 8 games in December will dictate how we finish. If we’re in and around the top 6 with minimal injuries and Dack and Trav coming back then we’re on. 15th with a load of injuries on 1st Jan and we’re knackered!! come on lads!! -

Paul Mani replied to darrenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Let’s get these beat. Nine games in December will probably shape our season. Start the new year in or around the playoffs and minimal injuries and we’re all set for Dack and Trav upto full speed and a promotion push...start the new year in 15th with a mountain of injuries and were struggling. Come on lads!! -
Rovers v Barnsley. Sat 28 Nov 3pm

I said that before Jack Walker we were not DESTINED for greatness (As a top PL team)...I stand by this. Without his money we would’ve settled into a similar position as we are now imo. His money and hard work jolted us into an amazing but unsustainable position. Once the cash withdrew, so did this status... I’m a realist who wants more... I’m not entitled and whining about something which never was.. As for settling for mediocrity? Haha be fantastic to stand shoulder to shoulder with a few in here and find out who really accepts mediocrity in their lives! ??? -
Rovers v Barnsley. Sat 28 Nov 3pm
Paul Mani replied to darrenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Nah not really. The size of the club, fan base, commercial potential, economic demographic and sustainability tell you that without a benefactor we are very much at our level. Of course that doesn’t mean we are accepting of this and always want better but I’d say you believing otherwise is down to you believing the golden years were real when in reality, Jack Walker inverted the whole thing with his millions. The truth is, we werent destined for greatness before Jack Walker and we began fading soon after his money dried up. -
Rovers v Barnsley. Sat 28 Nov 3pm
Paul Mani replied to darrenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Do you know I was just going to say, one big positive for anyone who has been watching for 30+ years is that we got to see some top teams and players as well as watching us lift the PL. The negatives of the last 10yrs were accentuated by the huge highs that Mr Walker brought to us. For what it’s worth, all things told where we are now is probably a natural-ish position. Maybe lower level PL. Unless we can get some more rich owners! -

I just say it how I see it. Plenty of you guys do too but you’re protected by the masses. You earn respect mate. ‘Supporting’ them for decades mean nothing when you’ve spent most of that time hammering everything about the club. Kudos though if you’ve been at it for over 30yrs! ??
