If ffp was gone tomorrow and the manager asked for some money, yes I’d be pretty confident he’d get it. Based on everything I’ve heard over the years.
-
Again, not a discussion about whether they care enough. Speak to anyone who’s been in their company or worked for them / Rovers past or present. You’ll get exactly the same rhetoric.
-
That’s not the point.
-
Nope. All you gotta do is ask....ffp is the elephant in the room not Venkys!
-
Ahhh, I see it’s been confirmed by the LET and Sheffield examiner that we’ve made inquiries for Westwood. Odd considering ‘it’s obvious’ that Mowbray doesn’t know his budget!? ???
-
?

I never thought I’d say this Stuart but you’ve just made me feel MUCH better. I think our ‘penniless’ XI would finish comfortably between 11th and 15th. Thamks!
-
I don’t know mate. I haven’t seen any of them play tbh
-
I don’t think the club have an interest in Dillon Phillips. He wasn’t mentioned at all. Muric, Iversen and Ohara were the names.
-
The club have denied bids for specific players. Rich Sharpe has confirmed that we are making offers for and to players. I’m guessing these are confirmed by the respective journalists covering the clubs / players in question.
-
No.
-
The manager knows his budget, hence why enquiries and offers are being made for players. As confirmed yesterday by Rich Sharpe. I have never stated we had this or that much to spend. As I said three weeks ago now, we’re after two young loan keepers and the names were Iversen and Muric for no.1 and Ohara as no.2. What Kamys saying makes complete sense and I can see why Venkys (and every owner) would be looking at finances considering the COVid sized hole in the accounts. Someone on here mentioned a sizeable (£5m) transfer fee budget earlier this window and a meeting with a midfielder who would cost seven figures? Maybe ask them about the current situation? None of this makes me feel any less anxious about the team we’ll be able to put out but bearing in mind Rich Sharpes most recent Comms I’d expect some movement on the keeper and a cb over the next few days...just a guess.
-
In fairness, the only time we have was at the start of the summer in League 1...I wish we’d get going too but I’ll be happy so long as they get the necessary done before the window closes
-
Which was exactly my point.

Haha - as good a sport as I am, I’m not keen on a ban today. But as a little social experiment, feel free to review 10 pages of any of the Rovers threads on here and count how many times those ‘issues’ somehow manage to become centre stage in anything being discussed. @Mashed Potatoes is free to come on here and defend whoever he likes as are those who come in here to constantly moan. ??

Take your pick ??
-
Absolutely 100% the truth, agreed. I just can’t imagine ever wanting to begin every single post with “Mowbray this, Venkys that, We spent £12m...”. The negativity would just drain me.
-
That was my thought exactly...
-
Liam Lindsay linked....be interested to know where the LT got this one from. Don’t usually hang their hats on players like this...
-
I wouldn’t say no money. Though the total budget (fees + wages) are around 12th highest in the league.
-
He wasn’t planning on “limping” around mid table though Rev. He stated clearly that he wanted to get into the play offs and loaning Tosin and Cunningham was the best way to get those players in as it meant we could afford them. The notion that you would buy sub standard players just so you know they’re your own is nonsensical. The ideal here is that you buy a Benrahma, mbeumo or Watkins every year for peanuts and sell high but that is the million dollar answer to football recruitment. It’s the exception rather than the rule.
-
You don’t know how much we paid. Plus I’m not arsed about owning players. I just want the best players we can afford. Walton is split and more than likely was seen as poor. But we couldn’t have afforded to buy players of the quality of Tosin and Cunningham so I’m completely fine with those choices tbh.
-
Seems premature to be saying this before we’ve even signed a single player though.
-
I must say that Pears from Boro on the face of it is worrying in terms of whether there’s a point at all in our national or European network... Having said that, reading the gazette article it does seem that this lad is a bit more than most at his age...20 odd first team appearances and kept out the new (7 figure) signing after Randolph left. Please god let it be our no.2 if there’s any truth.

Young United keeper.
