Cheers ??

I just think he’s not quite got ‘it’. Must be doing enough to get contract extensions but obv not good enough to break through. Interesting also that he keeps getting teams out of league 2 but they never take him in League 1...It’s no coincidence, he’s just not good enough lads.
-
They didn’t trust him, even when they were in League 1...what does that say?
-
Game of opinions. The manager obviously doesn’t think some of those are crap and that Wharton is...?
-
More of a tangent than you making comparisons between young homegrown players and seasoned professionals? ? The top and bottom of it is that there’s really nothing to see. The most annoying thing about Wharton is why keep giving him a new deal?
-
Basically...”we’ve triggered the year yes. Why wouldn’t we? We don’t have cover in that position as it is”
-
Fake news, Bell didn’t get a new contract, they triggered a year on his current one because they haven’t found a lb (said so at fans forum), Samuel had one contract and basically hasn’t played for us for two years, fit or not and Smallwood completely frozen out too for 18 months... Theyre having Wharton watched most weeks. We’re massively short of CB’s as you know. But he’s just not seen as the answer.
-
Etheridge available but not cheap...£25k pw and Cardiff want to free up the wages. Marshall at Wigan potentially available on a free.
-
The main issue, is that he’s crap. Comes back every year. Every year they’re filled with hope. Then they realise he isn’t quite good enough...
-
I reckon the City link has great potential. They obv have a great relationship with our lot and I agree that they’ll be happy with Tosin. Played a lot of games in his best position.
-
Not one I’ve heard.
-
Nothing since last week. Young, PL, Loan keepers most likely.
-
Not really. Because that’s the point of a wage structure. Once you make an exception, it’s open season and every player wants a rise. The cost of which would be much bigger than £12m. I understand the infatuation with the expenditure on BB and SG. I’ve said a few times that I think their performances will make or break Mowbray. But unless the PL club is willing to pay a high % then the biggest issue is that our wage structure won’t support it. There are lots of clubs with much higher budgets and the ability to squeeze a kid on £45k a week into their budget. We aren’t one of these.
-
He won’t need to speak with Mowbray or Waggot to find out who we have or have not bid for. There are staff who have been working the whole time and continue to work on ins and outs. Hence why we’ve been able to sell / release and loan players out in the last week.
-
Not really. Because both of those players are within our Current wage structure. Whereas these bits of kids at PL clubs are not.
-
Absolutely. Of course we know them. The main issue is can we afford them!? City helped us out a lot with Tosin who the manager said is on double our top earner there. Curtis Jones will be on more than our top earners too. There’s also a large section of these lads earning 25-50k a week, playing for u23’s with no pressure and the best facilities money can buy. They often don’t want to drop down, working in poorer conditions and risking failure. The struggle is real to just get these guys out of their comfort zone!
-
That makes complete sense then. Some will have been told to pack their bags... hmm...I genuinely can’t remember the name of the poster or which thread. Someone will post the link again no doubt once everyone wakes up!

The Wharton thing was in here. Someone had a connection to him and said that he was expecting to leave or something similar? Yeah the LT reported the meetings last week. I forgot. But for some reason I thought they reported those meetings were just for out of contract? Either way, he must’ve had talks with all as he’s been on holiday since, whilst people have been leaving the club.
-
I don’t know...looks like there’s already movement. Platt has gone, White on loan, Rich Sharpe writes most weeks now that Mulgrew is going. Then there was a bit of inside info in here, yesterday about Wharton seemingly readying himself to go. My assumption is that he’s had a convo with every player at the back end of last week and told them if they’re getting a look in. He’s actually meant to be pretty hard lined in those meetings. It just feels like it’s all stirring...both ins and outs.
-
You did mate. They’ll likely apologise / reason their way out of it. Likely dismiss it again...it’s absolutely mint knowing stuff isn’t it? Not! ? Thanks for the info. Your guy say Michel is any good?
-
Yeah. He’s decent. Not sure he’s tall enough to make a cb but those diags are sumptuous!
-
Yup, we’re very ‘busy’ in the market! Not sure who we’ll end up with tbh...but it won’t be for the lack of trying!
-
Any good?

Championship season 2019-20

I dislike their stance on the academy and I’d be devastated if we followed suit but there isn’t a football fan in the world that wouldn’t enjoy watching them play. -

Yess!! Exactly my thoughts...I was watching and really enjoying it when it suddenly dawned on me that it’s the exact formation / system we’re trying to play. Tbh, if we started playing 50% of that type of football I’d be bloody delighted. It’s like a mash up of the possession based City way and the fast pressing of Liverpool. Would love to see how it works in the prem. Sheff Utd were the best team I’d seen live at Ewood for a decade last season. The way the cbs overlap is out of this world and I’m so glad they’ve done well this season. Wonder if Brentford could do something similar?
