  1. We'll always have that funny skipping motion he did when sprinting after the ball against Wolves.
  2. It is far too early to judge Ismael....but that being said, I don't know whether its the timing of him coming in, the players seemingly choking in the first 7 minutes against bottom of the league, or whatever...but I've not taken a liking towards him at all so far. I hope he ends up being brilliant, but I'm extremely doubtful. No real reason for it other than feeling cynical about where the club is and where it's heading. Only other thing I'd say is that I've not been overly convinced by him when speaking to the press. Seems quite an unlikeable type. I am aware of the irony of this post where I've said its too early to judge the guy before then clearly judging him. C'est la vie.
  3. The future? If that future has Venkys still in it then I think its realistic to think Rovers will spend a fair amount of time in League One in the coming years. The cost cutting will continue, and that will only set the club up to aim for a lower standard each season. I certainly don't see a future under Venkys where the club returns to the Premier League. Anyone who thinks its doable is kidding themselves.
  4. 2-1 Stoke. Gallagher goal absolutely nailed on. Another slow start I reckon, 2 nil down with Ohashi pulling one back for Rovers. For what it's worth, this is the team I'd go with: A Training Cone Brittain Carter Hyam Ribeiro Travis Tronstad Ohashi Cantwell Dennis Gueye Another depressing midweek evening in store.
  5. Suddenly the title race is blown wide open. Burnley have a strong chance of automatics now with them having t play Sheff United at home still. Meanwhile we'll be trundling along somewhere between 9th and 13th I imagine.
  6. 2 nil down after 7 minutes....yeah the players are clearly taking to this guy 😂. He'll be gone in the summer probably.
  7. Supporting Rovers is an utterly miserable thing nowadays and bad for your mental health. The owners have ripped the soul out of the club and a large chunk of the fanbase. I think a lot of us saw this result coming today but the nature of it makes it 100 times worse. Lost the game after 7 minutes, no shot on target in the 2nd half. Just end the season now.
  8. Can't see where the next win is coming from. Stoke away next in midweek....that's a loss if I ever saw one. They'll end up mid table. Good job they had such a good start to the season really.
  9. Happy with the starting 11. As good as it could be IMO. Pleased that Ohashi looks to be in the number 10 role over Cantwell. His work rate is top notch.
  10. I didn't realise Derby were starting to look cut adrift at the bottom. I'm sure Rovers will hand them a lifeline 😂.
  11. I agree, but looking at our other options for wide right I don't see anyone standing out as a better choice than him. ACD hasn't really done enough to warrant starting, and Hedges is having an awful season. Weimann wide right perhaps? Doesn't have the legs for it IMO. You could bring Brittain further forward and move JRC into right back as one option, but can JRC be trusted at right back these days?
  12. Derby 1 - 0 Roves. Nyambe 90+5. Come on, this is the most Rovers mess it up fixture of all time 😂. Very cynical of me yes, but I just feel like its inevitable. A touch of Millwall away about it. Predicted team: Pears Brittain Carter Hyam Ribeiro Travis Tronstad Dolan Weimann Kargbo Gueye
  13. Take the point and move on. Weimann is a very good option to bring off the bench. Relief.
  14. Only Derby away next as well. Nyambe stoppage time winner written in the stars 😂
  15. Wishing Ismael the best of luck. He's going to need it working with those above him. It feels like a short term appointment, but then you look at the length of contract and think how weird it is that they've given him that deal when he's never lasted long anywhere he's been. Trying to figure out why Rovers do the things they do will lead you to a padded room though, so probably best not to dwell on it. I hope it works out of course, but equally I suspect we will all be back posting on the next 'new manager wish list' thread in a few months time 😂. He doesn't come across as someone that will take any nonsense, so I expect him to run out of patience with Waggott, Suhail, Gestede, etc. by the time the summer transfer window opens.
  16. Absolutely fair, I too am glad he isn't Rovers manager anymore. Was simply making the point that grouping him in with Coyle is just massively incorrect IMO.
  17. I'm all for bashing Coyle, but I don't think its fair to group Mowbray in with that clown. Mowbray ultimately got us back up to the Championship and steadies the ship. Absolutely no comparison between him and Coyle. Obviously I wouldn't want Mowbray now, and he definitely had his flaws whilst at Rovers but lets not re-write history and suggest he was anything like a Coyle or dare I say a 'he who must not be named'.
  18. Looks like there will be a new head coach on the touchline for this one. Hopefully it brings some needed changes from the starting 11 against Swansea. Norwich are quite indifferent away from home by the looks of it, but I think this one might just be a score draw. 1-1. Gueye for Rovers, Sainz for Norwich. The team I would go with: Pears Brittain Carter Hyam Ribeiro Travis Buckley Dolan Dennis Kargbo Gueye If Cantwell is fit then I can see him coming in. Hopefully Ohashi gets some minutes and maybe Tronstad on the bench with a bit of luck. It'll be too soon for him to return to the starting 11 I imagine.
  19. Is that new as of today or just the story from yesterday evening? Honestly just want it sorted now. I it is going to be Ismail then just get him in and get on with the job.
  20. Reading the latest LT article, I didn't realise Ismail had WBA in 5th spot when they sacked him. I suppose they expected to be higher than that though having just come back down from the premier league. Did they replace him with Steve Bruce? The obvious concern is that he doesn't stick around long at any club, and it probably won't be long before he falls out with someone above him, so we'll probably have a another new manager / head coach thread by Christmas 😂.
  21. Not surprised if its between Wagner and Ismail. Both pretty uninspiring but can't say I expected anything else. They are both at least better than Karanka in my mind. Trying to see the positives in either of these appointments: I'm not fussed about style of play. If it's Ismail and he likes playing hoof ball...so be it. Had Venkys stuck with that there Big Sam fella who played a similar style then Rovers might be in a very different place than the one they find today. If its Wagner....well I remember his Norwich side comfortably taking Rovers apart at Ewood in JDT's first season. His successor at Norwich isn't doing any better, and he's done something that Rovers haven't managed since 2012 which is reach the playoffs on multiple occasions, winning it once. He also managed to beat Ipswich so he's at least won a local derby too, something none of our recent managers / head coaches seem to be capable of when it comes to Burnley. Probably as good as its gonna get for us at this stage and with the money on offer for any potential head coach. Meh.
