Play offs - hypothetical scenario
sharpysharps86 replied to Paradoxlens's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
There's only one real 'league title' in England...and Rovers won it at Anfield in May 1995 🙂. We've seen things they'll never see. -
If the article is 4 and a half years ago then that more than likely mean the average salary has increased further. Parachute payment clubs or not, you have to keep up paddling up to the surface or you'll eventually sink to a lower level. What is your basis for 600k being decent by the way? Genuine question and not trying to be funny. Do you have any stats or facts to back that up or is it just an opinion / hunch?

Unfortunately Lowe had already made it fairly clear in the Plymouth post match interviews that Kargbo wouldn't be starting. Simply read between the lines of his comment on AK needing to work on the defensive side of his game. -

Ah yes, the definition of someone being a prick. -
I'm taking the Nixon story with a pinch of salt. There is probably truth in the salary info, but the other stuff about Lowe's chances of staying in the job getting a boost, and Adam Owen's involvement, etc....I think that's the part of the story where he's whacking the wasps nest amongst the fanbase to make the story sound more interesting. Plus, how have we suddenly gone in Nixons mind from interviewing final candidates in London to 'now struggling to bring someone in'....it doesn't make sense. He's used the names of Cooper and O'Neil, who last managed premier league clubs. Well Rovers are unlikely to be able to match their previous salaries anyway. To me this is a story to backtrack on the same person strongly naming Karanka as a final candidate only for LT to pour the coldest of water on that. The salary figure is obviously not great in comparison to what most championship level managers are on, but is anyone that surprised by the club being cheap about it? I'm not. On another point, I doubt Lowe even wants the job because when it inevitably goes tits up, he'll be shown the door as the scapegoat.

This team seems to fight for it more when they're up against it....but when the pressure releases a little bit and here's an opportunity to really kick on they just never take it. I suppose this is what a lot of fans of other clubs say though. Such is life at a good chunk of championship clubs....no less frustrating though!

Leicester had a genuinely better chance with Cooper in charge. Obviously his face didn't fit (poor choice of words). Sadly it'll be 2 seasons in a row where the promoted teams all come hurtling back down. Makes me wonder why I'd want to see Rovers in that league again, knowing that they'd likely get stuffed every week....but then I remember its just about the only hope we have of getting new owners in.

And he was pretty awful in it too. Think he's well comfortable in the Soccer Saturday pundit role now anyway. For the best as well!

Well that was dreadful. Nobody comes out of that game with any credit in the bank. All very poor. The team selection was all wrong. It looked like a team picked with too much respect for the opposition and needed to be far braver offensively. Should've been a front 4 of Dolan, Dennis, Kargbo and Gueye to start. Hedges should be about 4th or 5th choice at this point. Best to move on as quickly as possible from today....but they really do need to make an appointment this coming week ahead of Norwich at Ewood. -

Gah. Sounds like we've had chances and done the usual away day trick. Hopefully they can claw their way back into it with a couple of subs. -

Find him massively irritating myself. Just comes across so badly most of the time. -

Ooof, Millwall miss a penalty. That would've been pretty funny 🥲 -

Yeah personally would've gone with Buckley for Forshaw in the middle, as well as Kargbo for Hedges. Great to see 'O'Hashi' on the bench 😂. -

I agree, but I can see him starting this one as I think Lowe will value his defensive duties similarly to having him start against West Brom. Going forward though he is awful. To me it seems more likely that Hedges starts and Kargbo comes off the bench 2nd half. -
Jon Dahl Tomasson - Sweden coach

I doubt it's JDT, but definitely someone close to him. Perhaps one of the coaches he had at Rovers? -

Brammall Lane not exactly a happy hunting ground for Rovers in recent years. I suspect Rovers will need a win there to have a chance of finishing top 6 as well. Could be a strange old day. -

Ah. Didn't realise they played each other on Monday. That opens the door a little bit for you. The game against Sheffield United will be potentially huge. -

Burnley will comfortably finish third now. For their lack of goals, they have won 5-0 and 4-0 in recent weeks, I just suspect it is too little too late in terms of automatics as Leeds and Sheffield United are showing no signs of slowing down. The top four probably stays exactly as it is. You'd have to think that's it for Carrick at Boro now. They were well in control of a playoff place at one point and appear to have bottled it. January appears to have done them more harm than good in terms of recruitment and losing Latte Lath as well. -
If true that Karanka is not in the running then that's a huge relief. First time I've seen Pep Lijnders name mentioned in Elliot's LT article. Don't know much about him other than he was a Liverpool coach with Klopp, and has since left Red Bull Salzburg after a brief stint as head coach there.
-
Call me old fashioned but if you want the job, come to the effing stadium and get a feel for the place.
-
Karanka would be a terrible appointment. If we thought JDT fell out with players wait till you get a load of this guy. An uninspiring personality and terrible recent record. Only one brief moment of success when at Boro and he managed to make an absolute arse of himself during that as well with that little diva strop he pulled. A (very) poor mans Mourinho. Awful. I'd take any of the other names in the odds over Karanka.

This search is starting to feel a bit like when Henning Berg came in. Wasn't it a couple of weeks of dead ends before they gave Berg the job? Before then he'd not really been mentioned and then suddenly he had the job. Let's hope it doesn't end up with the same set of results once the new fella comes in!
