  1. This in some ways will be much tougher than the West Brom game. Plymouth have massively turned a corner under their new manager, who seems very impressive having seen a couple of videos of his team talks. The kind of manager / head coach that you can imagine players will run through brick walls for. Depending on Batth's injury, we may be forced to bring Sanderson in from the start, in which case I'd be looking to go with something like this team: Pears Brittain Sanderson Hyam Ribeiro Travis Buckley Dolan Dennis Kargbo Gueye I think we will really need some pace against Plymouth, so I think Kargbo and Dennis should come in for Hedges and Weimann. I don't think this will happen though, and the more likely change is Cantwell for Weimann, whilst Hedges keeps his place. I found it really odd that Kargbo was impressive against Wolves but only got a few minutes last night, whilst Dennis didn't get any minutes at all...but I can't argue with the result so there you go! My gut says this will be a tough score draw 1-1...Gueye to score again for Rovers, Hardie for Plymouth.
  2. Whoever it will be, it needs to be someone who doesn't come in and rock the boat so to speak. Looking at last night, regardless of what we think of David Lowe, Damien Johnson, etc, the players clearly like these guys and enjoy working with them....otherwise you don't get the kind of performance and result away at a playoff rival side as we saw last night. The biggest worry is that Gestede gives someone like Karanka a call. Middlesbrough promotion aside (which happened nearly 10 years ago), he's been a failure everywhere he's been, and I think being a student of Mourinho he is likely to upset players more than bringing them closer together. This group need someone similar to Eustace in terms of showing that mentality of togetherness and resilience. No drastic changes are required on the coaching side.
  3. Could not be happier to be proven wrong last night. Seeing the starting XI I felt there would be no other outcome than a comfortable West Brom win, but this group of players has shown me yet again that they are up for the fight. Gueye was brilliant. What is that, 4 goals in 7 games for him now? Something like that anyway. He is well in form and looking like a real threat. He's come a long way from earlier in the season.
  4. It's not quite the same, but Derby's previous manager Paul Warne left Rotherham whilst they were in the Championship to join Derby and fight for promotion from League One. That's the closest thing I can think of, but he at least traded a relegation fight for a promotion push, just a division lower. Sounds like the hold up is at Rovers end of things. Unsurprising. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if it still isn't resolved by the weekend!
  5. Crikey, that front 4 is not the one. WBA comfortable win here.
  6. Although no mention of him from Nixon, nor does he seem to be high on the odds at the moment, but it scares me to death that Michael Beale is out of work. Good chance he would become Kean Mk2 given how things went at Sunderland with him.
  7. I think Dennis showed he is really capable of playing centrally against Wolves as well, so I agree, have him playing in that role over Cantwell. I think this line-up is pretty much spot on and would be good to see tonight.
  8. The majority of that list is predictable and deeply underwhelming. Wicky is a unique choice. O'Neil, I just can't see it happening. Wicky wouldn't go to WBA because of an issue with bringing his coaching staff. Carvalhal never came to Rovers previously for the same reason. There's no chance either of these will join because Rovers will continue to employ the usual suspects like Lowe and Benson. If they can get any of them, I'd want Wicky or Carvalhal. The latter at least has experience managing in this country. As I say though, they'll want their own staff and Rovers would never go for it. It'll be Karanka, and he'll stink the place out.
  9. Plymouth at home to Millwall tonight, which will make for a very interesting watch. Before the FA cup heroics at the weekend they seemed to have picked up a couple of decent results, beating WBA at home and drawing away at Sunderland. It could get seriously toxic on Saturday.
  10. Dracula has just given PNE the lead. This is really frustrating to sit and wait for the inevitable. You'd have expected it to be all done and dusted before Derby kicked off tonight. Just want it announced at this point so we can move on as best we can.
  11. He won't turn it down at this point...it's too far gone and they'll have pretty much already discussed terms before the approach was even made. Clubs only make an official approach for a manager / head coach if they know that they can get them in.
  12. Of course he does. There is no loyalty in football but Bruce is definitely the least loyal of them all. How many times has he bailed on a club now? That aside, I'd take him over Ryan Lowe 😂
  13. Paul Warne was supposedly interviewed when we eventually brought in JDT....feels very much like the kind of manager / head coach that Waggott would support getting the job as well.
  14. There's being positive and then there's being delusional. Delap seems to be the latter in this case, but I do admire his ability to stay positive.
  15. Who's the best available candidate? Probably Steve Cooper. Who do I want? Damien Duff because why the f*ck not at this point. Who do I think we'll get? Rob Edwards
  16. Yeah, that statement is their attempt at making him look like the villain. It's utterly despicable.
  17. Agreed. Nobody comes out of this well at all. The club look awful for not backing Eustace. Eustace himself looks an absolute arse for bailing on the players in this way. The players will be fuming and probably hugely demotivated ahead of a big game on Wednesday. Heads will have dropped. JUST SELL THE CLUB FFS
  18. Mike Williamson just got binned by bottom of the football league Carlisle...I honestly wouldn't be surprised at this point.
  19. Agreed, aside from the fact that he is a really dislikeable figure, Martin is just like Scott Parker...can only really do a job when he's got money to spend. Steve Cooper would be my choice, but there is probably no chance in hell of him coming to Rovers. I don't really see anyone out there that can come in and rally the troops in this time of need. It'll be someone cheap, available and that they can lie to for roughly 12 months before they get fed up as well.
  20. Listening to his podcast in recent weeks you can hear the frustration growing within him....it was only a matter of time before he went with something like this, and credit to him for doing so.
  21. Ergo he hasn't been backed. It's simple. When he joined he'll have been given assurances. Those assurances haven't been kept by the club, so he hasn't been backed.
  22. He hasn't been backed, simple as that. Just as Christ Sutton said on commentary yesterday.
  23. I think the point that the others are making is that the family thing is not his MAIN reason for going to Derby. It's a bonus for him to be closer to family but its clear that Venkys, Waggott, Suhail and the lack of support he's had in strengthening the squad is clearly the reason he would consider leaving a side currently sat in the top 6. It's obvious.
