  1. Maybe not, but if by that point he had already signed a new contract with a release clause of in excess of £15M then Rovers 1- either get a larger fee, or 2- it puts teams off bidding for him I would guess it would result in option one of those two Either way, a contract should have been waiting for him almost as soon as he walked off the pitch after Roves stayed up vs Leicester, well before any Prem clubs showed an interest
  2. Good Hopefully it shines a light on those who would prefer to remain under the radar
  3. Was Boateng ever in the same squad as Gestede at either Boro and/or Villa? Edit - apparently not, my mind must have been playing tricks on me as I thought Boateng was playing much more recently that he was Boateng Senior career* Years Team Apps (Gls) 1994–1995 Excelsior 9 (0) 1995–1997 Feyenoord 68 (1) 1997–1999 Coventry City 46 (5) 1999–2002 Aston Villa 103 (4) 2002–2008 Middlesbrough 182 (7) Gestede Senior career* Years Team Apps (Gls) 2005–2010 Metz B 27 (3) 2007–2011 Metz 28 (3) 2009–2010 → Cannes (loan) 22 (4) 2011–2014 Cardiff City 55 (7) 2013–2014 → Blackburn Rovers (loan) 6 (2) 2014–2015 Blackburn Rovers 60 (32) 2015–2017 Aston Villa 50 (9) 2017–2020 Middlesbrough 59 (6)
  4. Jackson did this article in December, but it does involve taking Waggotts word for it (just for reference Waggott was still stating that Venkys could send funds during the January window in the same piece, so believe what you will) that it will be done, not that it had been done at that point in time. There may of course be a more recent update that I may have missed https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/24801938.waggott-confirms-blackburn-rovers-plans-transfer-window/ Steve Waggott confirmed plans for the Senior Training Centre to be transferred back to club ownership. Venky's London Limited 2, a sister account of the owners, bought the training ground before the loophole was closed to aid Profit and Sustainability rules. All loans on that transfer have been paid off though rent is being paid by the club to VLL for the use. But the aim is 'to bring the STC back into club ownership as soon as possible and at an appropriate future juncture'.
  5. The competition rules (might be outdated I suppose) state that the top 2 teams in each group quality for the knockouts, Rovers finished 2nd in their group and so based on the above would therefore qualify for the knockouts However, Wikipedia states that its the best 7 runner ups that quality and has a runner up table which would make you right. Rovers seem to think they have qualified, but would it really surprise us at this stage if Rovers were not aware of the rules of the competition? Stockport apparently play at 1pm, and Sunderland this evening. As you state, it would seem that both Sunderland would have to win and Stockport would need to win by at least 5 goals for Rovers not to qualify. Match report for anyone who wants a read
  6. hard to say yet, might be "growing pains" or similar, may be one injury which just needs time rather than being him being injury prone having not seen the injuries but having heard he had a "calf injury", in December, and then again in January, it may just be that he came back too soon? Remember that he missed out on a lot of game time for the U21s earlier in the season when he was travelling with the first team as the "21st man" just in case of injuries
  7. For what it is worth U21s beat QPR 1-0 to progress to the knockout stages of the PL Cup. Boggan with a late winner Tyjon & Gilsenan still injured
  8. The LT can reveal that Eustace asked Blackburn Rovers for a new contract and assurances over investment in the squad to continue their push at the top end of the Championship table. However, Rovers refused to extend his deal and provide those guarantees.
  9. I'm sure his big fat pay cheque will soothe his ego
  10. is it like when I was at Primary school, and the last day of term we got to watch a movie?
  11. Waggott wont have finished his 2nd breakfast yet, so may as well let him take training 😉
  12. I would be amazed if anyone in India even knows who Eustace is, let alone cares if he stays here or not
  13. And they likely have a plan which involves more than reducing costs & crossing their fingers in the hope that they manage to avoid relegation season upon season. It can be seen that they sold Cashin for £9M, and immediately invested £5M of that into permanent deals for a new striker & a new centre back, and another centre back on loan Can we even dream of our owners etc investing over 50% of player sales back into the squad?
  14. During the game on Sunday, the TV cameras panned towards Waggott more than once. I think it was Suhail was sat next to him the first time, but there was an empty seat next to Waggott from then on. He doesn't like the spotlight
  15. Papers a probably a thing of the past, you would likely be better served paying for an advert on YouTube targeted to those with an Indian IP address
  16. unless it was accompanied by the words "I" "wish" "was" "struck" & "by"?
  17. From memory (so I appreciate I may be wrong), most short term appointments that I recall tend happen with teams struggling to stay up, rather than a team on the edge of the play offs, I think a short term appointment who is going to continue along the same lines of what Rovers already do well (keep it tight, nick a goal) would be a sensible option
  18. Makes sense in a way Once people realise that those in charge don't give a monkeys, it becomes harder to drag yourself to see them every week. So many of those who pay attention lose interest and stop going, leaving smaller crowds made up of people who fall into one of 3 categories Addicts who cant give it up The willfully ignorant with their heads buried in the sand Casuals
  19. The rest of this season is an attractive job, if someone gets the team to the playoffs (let alone promotion) they would be hailed a hero, failure to reach the top 6 is easily pinned on the lack of investment compared to Boro, West Brom etc. The new guy cant lose either way Once the transfer window opens and the head coach/manager has to deal with the lies and/or incompetence of those in charge, the job becomes much less palatable
  20. We can but hope, the other possibility is that they got lucky with the past 3 choices, Before that there was a carousel of clowns and chancers
  21. If Rovers were ambitious & sensible at this point (and also assuming Eustace does leave). It would make sense to offer a 6 month contract with a large promotion bonus to the likes of Dyche, Cooper, Allardyce or Warnock (man managers with a history of promotion out of this division based on the current strengths of the team.... being solid and hard to beat rather than free scoring) The most stupid thing they could do is offer the job to Russell Martin, Rooney, Gerrard etc, which is what I expect to happen based on who we have in charge
