  1. Grasping at straws, but… Ref’s been alright! Not one I recognise and has tried to let things go/not to book unnecessarily.
  2. Buckley for ACD, Leonard for Hedges. Sit Cantwell alongside Tronstad and move Weimann to the 10 position.
  3. … safe to say this experiment isn’t working?
  4. Taken half an hour for the first fluid move to emerge. Interested to see if we can create more in that fashion, it was a nice passage of play.
  5. Team selection is a real mess, not currently clear what the tactic is here.
  6. He’s been a liability so far but that’s an excellent cross from Dolan, where has that been in his play?!
  7. It’s immaterial and things don’t work out this way, but if I could design a scenario for a chance to fall to Leonard, it’s that one. Needs a moments like that to break for him while he’s building confidence. It’s early but the lack of a focal point is very clear as we build through the middle third. Hopeful they clear it up as we play.
  8. Three strikers on the bench, none on the pitch.
  9. I retract my earlier comment about Toth’s distribution. Leonard unlucky to hit the bar, he didn’t slash at it, tried a controlled finish, but he was in exactly the right place for it. He’s a poacher, needs players running the channels for him and getting those balls into him around the penalty spot.
  10. Agreed entirely. Looks like two teams that would rather have decided this one with the coin toss.
  11. Not much to see of Toth so far but his distribution has been good. Interested to see how he copes with a more enthusiastic press. Leonard just running the channels, by the looks. We’re not exactly knocking on the door.
  12. I’ll be delighted to be proven wrong but John Buckley is basically an impediment to trying to build any sort of move. Basically no sense of awareness and manages to consistently break up his own team’s play. Gebuinely think he isn’t cut out for this level.
  13. This is - from even a cursory glance - an obvious self-publicist and chancer/fantasist.
  14. I, for one, blame John Lewis for setting up this football club in the first place!
  15. Yeah, he’s had a good run recently. I do struggle with him sometimes, he’s patchy, but he’s been consistent recently and I’m not looking at JRC mournfully as often anymore
  16. First home game of the season for me and a really gutting day, but from the vantage point of the JW Upper, I saw a lot of honest graft. I’m not his biggest fan by any stretch, but I thought Brittain was excellent up and down, but especially trying to make stuff happen. We looked stretched after the first 20 or so, which is really when the quality/financial disparity began to nullify the desire. Make no mistake - they turned up for a point today. They were happy with the point, but their one chance fell to them through lapses on our end. Usually, those lapses don’t happen all in a row and you get away with them. Having said that - I felt for Eustace today. The opportunity to build through what was a well-organised but ultimately not very game and quite intimidated opposition was there towards the end but we seemed to panic to increasingly more direct balls through tiredness. The bench really emphasised the kind of injury list we’re dealing with. With a bit of perspective here, it was an honest effort in an ultimately poor encounter that got edged by a fortunate opposition who should - by their account - be hammering us. But they’ve not managed it on either encounter this season. They can wave their Indian flags, make light of us having atrocious owners but even with all the good fortune they’ve encountered in the past 15 years, they’re still fortunate to be walking away with the points today and they know it. All that money and they’re celebrating like they did. Full-strength, I don’t think we lose today and if we happen to meet them again this season at full-strength, I don’t think we will.
  17. Agreed but think this is a galvanising performance. We’ll need similar grit on Saturday. First trip up for me this season, owing to circumstances and if I see that kind of fight and aggression, I’ll be happy.
  18. Sorry. THERE is that clanger. Gnonto grabs the ref to win the pen.
  19. Quite a few guilty of that, but I wouldn’t say he’d done it egregiously.
  20. Subbing Leonard off is a bit of a shitty move. No room for sentimentality and that, but he’s really put himself about and the level of graft we need, I don’t think Gueye likes to apply. Height, fine, but he’s as likely to put it in his own net as he is to clear it.
  21. Tronstad eventually played it to Leonard who played it out wide, but the initial pass that was on, Tronstad wasn’t looking.
  22. Tronstad in the position to play through Weimann, clean through. That’s when you want Trav in there to just slip it to him. Gosh, frustrating. They’d have collapsed with that.
