v Southampton (h) - 6/4/24
Wheelton Blue replied to philipl's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The worry of letting Gallagher go isn't so much losing him as a player. Rather it's the ability of Broughton to replace him with anything semi-decent. The evidence thus far tells us that we'd just end up with yet another dud. -
Talk of getting rid of both Buckley and Travis is madness. We skirted with disaster only a few weeks ago when Tronstad was out injured.

Good point yesterday. Eustace clearly has the team set up well, organised, and we're hard to beat, albeit with not much up top. On Southampton, I thought they were dreadful. Their style of walking football is just plain dull to watch. -
So are thousands of others. Come on, what else are you yourself doing proactively, which gives you carte blanche to throw keyboard insults at those who do still attend?

3 games undefeated now for the Dingles, with an under strength Wolves to visit the Turd on Tuesday, followed by a trip to Everton who themselves are on a Rovers-esque winless run. I dread to think, but they've given themselves a sniff of a chance.

It's obvious what game Waggott is playing here; it's called 'smoke and mirrors'. He's fleeced the Leeds fans to maximise revenue from them, whilst knowing all along that Leeds would charge us full whack in return. He'll have built this 'subsidy' into his overall calculation, as a means to appear the good guy. Don't be fooled.

The Dingles play Forest on the last day. Things could be about to get very interesting...

The damage was done months ago. Tomasson, Eustace, whoever.....it really doesn't matter who's in the seat. These players are so poor that I genuinely think whoever our manager is, no-one could get a tune out of them. I'm resigned to the inevitable now. -

I suspect, or hope, that the public message is rather different to the private one. I personally don't care if he comes across as dull - or wears a perma-grin for that matter - as long as he starts winning games. -
Eustace Or Useless?

If he keeps us up, I don't care how dull he may be. -

That was the first game I ever went to. Wishful thinking, but as you say, oh for some of that effort and desire this coming Saturday. -
Eustace Or Useless?

We were possibly heading down under Tomasson, and we'll possibly still go down under Eustace. JDT this, Eustace that......to argue the toss between them is moot and is ignoring the root issues. Whoever the manager is, they'd struggle to get much of a tune out of this lot of players. The idiots that run our club; the fools who own us but don't do anything in the best interests of the club; the diabolical transfer policy and awful player recruitment. Those are the reasons we find ourselves where we are. What we see in the dugout and on the pitch are merely symptoms. -
We're all accustomed to a less than half full Ewood, with next to zero atmosphere, and accompanying 'library' chants from the Darwen End. Last night showed the other side of Ewood. A big crowd for once, a vociferous backing, and plenty to get behind both in the dugout and on the pitch. When it's like that, Ewood remains a wonderful place in which to watch our team. Great stuff.

£100k? That's a tad optimistic 🙂 -

To a degree. Buckley made a difference; we moved the ball a lot better when he came on and controlled possession more. The same old problems were there though, mainly that for all the possession, we just don't get the ball in the box anywhere near enough. I was happy with the result though. A point on the road, when you're scrapping away near the bottom, is a good point. -

Tronstad is missing Wharton IMO. The option of those 15 yard passes he used to make through the line to AW, is no longer there. -

Like they did yesterday, you mean? -
Jon Dahl Tomasson - Sweden coach

Tolerated for a short while longer, perhaps, but only when there's signs of improvement. First and foremost, people pay money to see their team win. That's all they really care about. -

Playing so called 'entertaining football' and losing, is still losing. After watching us lose game after game, it didn't make me feel any better about it despite the fact that I watched snippets of pretty passing along the way. -

No it doesn't. It depends on who is actually available, who is open to alternate offers, which clubs would be willing to let their manager/player speak to other clubs etc. None of which we are privy to. -

Why do you think that anyone on this board, or the average supporter for that matter, has any clue what managers would have been available to us, and similarly, what players would be available in any transfer window? We don't. We're just punters, not employed in the profession, and so in the main and by definition, we don't have much of a clue.
