  1. Which is exactly the situation we'll be in at the end of the season; worse in fact, as we'll get nothing for him.
  2. Important to me also. It's the one thing I've not seen the Rovers win.
  3. The relegated teams have a massive advantage, no question. The rest of the Championship teams are dire in comparison, no question. To balance the argument a little though regarding Kompany.... He's basically had to put a whole new side together. Yes, this is far, far easier with money to spend, but he still had to find players to blend together into a cohesive unit. Is this really any different to what Kenny did to get us promoted? Could Kompany have done this without the level of spend he's made? Most likely, not. But he deserves some credit for what he's done.
  4. I'm hoping that they've got their sights set on a certain Belgian who's doing rather well.....🤔
  5. You've suggested dropping Gallagher and Pickering for this game, on the basis that they've just returned from injury. I think the opposite. We should play them - at least for a good part of the game - to help get their fitness levels back up. If they don't play games, I don't see how else they're going to get fit enough to play. Giving them '3 or 4 days off' isn't the answer!
  6. Haven't played for a couple of weeks so rest them. Hmmm.....
  7. Rovers may not be able to cancel, but they can force the issue by making it clear to Leicester that Hirst - quite rightly - won't be getting any more game time.
  8. Dack remains one of our very few match winners, one who can actually put the ball in the net. He'd be a loss at the moment, unless we replaced with similar ability.
  9. Meteorology, horticulture....there's no end to his talents.
  10. I was replying to your suggestion to give the players days off, not whether we should rest them for the cup tie or not.
  11. Yeah. It's not like we need to work on our offensive play or anything... 🤦‍♂️
  12. So would I, but as a collective, there's enough about them with decent service. They're not our biggest issue, which is really my point.
  13. It's a lazy argument to simply say that Kompany has simply 'bought' success. Yes, he's had plenty of money to spend, but he's had to put together a whole new side. It's one thing buying players, it's another thing completely to put a new team together, one that consistently wins games, and does so in the style which they are playing. He's done this in next to no time, which is some achievement IMO. I just wish he'd bugger off to a proper club...
  14. Between Brereton, Gallagher and Dack, we have good enough forwards to score goals. The problem is we don't play to their strengths. MIdfield is the crucial area to fix.
  15. He's made a good career for himself has Derbyshire. He must have looked after himself. Fair play to him.
  16. How do you propose that Hirst gets a 'run of games' then? Send the loanee out on loan? Or better still, just send him back?
  17. The biggest risk to Burnley is losing Kompany to someone like Everton.
  18. I went down to the shop this morning and was told the same thing. ie no more shirts this season. The chap I spoke with reckoned that they'd ordered the same quantity as they did last season, and in all but 2 of the last 10 years (this and last) they'd not sold out.
  19. @chaddyrovers I was asking you which option you believed to be true, not for directions to your sources. ps I wish you'd stop multi-posting responses, it makes it nigh on impossible to reply to a specific.
  20. Above anything, IMO they need to find a centre midfielder with the physicality and wherewithal for Championship level football.
  21. Rovers on the slide, Boro on the up. There's only one outcome. 2-0 Rovers (Brereton x 2) 🙂 COYB
  22. Which one is it then? We either a) avoided FFP by the skin of our teeth by selling Armstrong & Brockhall, or ... b) we had money to spend, but chose not to?
  23. We've lost 3 out of the last 4 haven't we? That suggests that the fall has already started.
