  1. I could be wrong, but I seem to recall Andy Burgin was a regular at the Hare & Hounds at Lammack back in the day.
  2. As when Eustace was appointed, I suspect that Waggot is hoping that a replacement is in situ before Saturday to quell any discontent in the stands. A negative result tonight, no sign of a replacement manager, and a tough game against a cockahoop Plymouth (who needs the FA Cup eh?) could make Saturday interesting.
  3. Good luck to the guy, I say He deserves better than having to deal with the idiots who suposedly run our club. Thank goodness that we have as many points as we do, so we shouldn't get a repeat of the last end-of-season shenanigans. When you consider the abject state of our squad, he's worked a miracle. Next season though....
  4. At the beginning of last season, full of misplaced optimism, I said to myself that hopefully that would be the last season of having to endure the likes of Hedges and Dolan. 18 months on, and the alternative now will, in all likelihood, be even worse. Running down contracts, managed decline, end of career journeymen, short term 'permanent' signings, and loans from lower leagues. I'm resigned to it all. This is our Venky induced lot.
  5. I'm deludedly going to predict a 2-0 loss. Losing Tronstad is a step too far for this squad.
  6. Exactly. I saw Tronstad at Accy pre season, and for the first number of games I thought he was way off the pace of the English game. How wrong I was. First name on the teamsheet for me.
  7. I agree, hence my comment re: 'dark arts' The ref let they get away with it early doors, so they took advantage for the rest of the game.
  8. Burnley weren't a patch on their side of 2 seasons ago, but - as much as I hate to say it - they look good for a top 2 finish IMO. Well organised, hard to score against let alone beat, put away their only chance yesterday, and they have the dark arts off to a tee.
  9. Whatever the team, whatever the tactics...in JE we should trust. Let's just batter these fools for once.
  10. Give me old Broth 'Ed and Windy Miller any day over Pep Ball 🤣
  11. As a spectator, for me there's nothing more exciting that seeing tackles flying in, crosses coming in from the wings, goalmouth scrambles, and shots in the box. All aspects which seem to have been lost in the 'modern' game.
  12. I didn't bait you at all, hence the smiley face. It was a joke, you know, those things which normal people laugh at. Lighten up man.
  13. As far as I'm aware, our financial situation is no different from the summer, when we were effectively living off transfer proceeds to pay the milk man. I'd be surprised, therefore, if we spent more than a few pennies on any permanent signings; loans will be the most likely activity we do. But here's hoping that the fools in charge do the right thing for once.
  14. All that talk on the other thread about what constitutues a 'supporter'... For the vast majority of the sofa watching Sky fraternity, they'll never experience anything like this. It's what it's all about, and in my case, this game hooked me for life. COYB
  15. I don't think Cantwell is lacking in effort. Rather, he looks to me as if he's out of form for whatever reasons. As an example, he snatched at that shot against Hull. In form, I'd back someone of his ability to bag that every time. I've certainly not written him off yet.
  16. Back to the main point of discussion. Of course there are some people who align with a particular club for family reasons etc. The majority of these supposed Man Utd, Liverpool ... 'fans' though, 'support' these clubs for one reason and one reason only, which is because those clubs win things. As such, they are glory hunting dickheads.
  17. On the 15th February, Rovers play Plymouth Argyle at Ewood. Coincidentally, that will be 50 years to the day since that famous 5-2 victory, which was the first Rovers game I ever went to. My dad dragged me down and sat me in the old Riverside stand. I can still remember it even now.
  18. The types that Matty refers don't 'support' their chosen clubs though, do they? They don't travel around, buy tickets, go to games etc. They just watch them on tv; they don't support them. And they do that simply because those clubs win things.
  19. It really grates on me when these supposed 'fans' refer to the club in question as 'we'. They haven't got a clue. Dickheads absolutely.
  20. We all already know what the answer to that question will be...the same as it is every game!!!!
  21. I agree with playing on the break, that seems to suit us more IMO. When the onus is on us to impose ourselves and make things happen, we just don't the quality to do that. Take today as an example; our forwards in particular were really poor and don't have enough about them to conjur up some magic.
  22. Even if they don't want to open the away ticket office, at least offer those 'digital tickets' they keep gaslighting us about. Ridiculous state of affairs.
  23. I'm obviously struggling to understand your original question ... 'Do you think he was good last season when we nearly went down?' It comes across that you're implying that Tronstad couldn't have had a good season, for the sole reason that we nearly went down. Hence my question back, which could have been about any other player. I used Szmodics as an extreme example.
  24. Interesting question. If you're suggesting that Tronstad couldn't have been good last season, purely because we flirted with relegation, then.... Do you think Szmodics was good last season when we nearly went down?
