  1. The final day win at already promoted Millwall to make the play offs is my overriding last day memory. I thought they were going to invade the away end at the final whistle. Scary.
  2. I was told at an U23 game that if Mowbray stays then Nyambe leaves, and vice versa.
  3. I have absolutely no doubt that there are far better managers than Mowbray out there who are available. I am full of doubt that we will land one of them.
  4. Whoever's in charge does so with one arm tied behind their back, as you've said before. Dyche or Farke would definitely be worth rolling the dice for. Seeing would be believing with this lot though and I'm sure they'd find a way of cocking it up. The other names mentioned thus far though....hmmmm!!!
  5. Call me a pessimist, but I'm still of the opinion that Mowbray may well still be here next season. I can't shake the thought that he's playing silly buggers in public in order to force the issue and engineer a new contract.
  6. The only way a style of football can be deemed 'good' is when it wins matches, which as we know, has been in short supply here for months.
  7. Penalty aside, he took his other 3 goals well. He should get a game on Saturday I think and see what he can do. I also like the look of the two midfielders, Garrett and Wharton. They lost the ball a couple of times in the first half, but play with their heads up and look to go forward. Barnes also looks like he needs to be tested at a higher level.
  8. Rovers not at their best, but the game today was an enoyable one. A nice antidote for yesterday.
  9. Exactly K-Hod. If you choose to become a football manager, don't expect a nomal work/life balance. It goes with the territory. If he doesn't get a new contract at Ewood - which I think he may still do - then he'll resurface somewhere else before too long.
  10. At £10 a ticket and with loads of familes/kids in attendance, there's no chance of that happening today Gav.
  11. What's the betting that the tatty Mowbray flag will be on display come kick off time? I'm sure it was being waved in the DE a few games back.
  12. I don't disagree with you mate re: Venky's. It's not the correct way to operate to keep him hanging around. That's assuming that we take Mowbray's word and it is indeed what they're doing. Their bigger mistake, though, is not potting him when they should have done on several occasions.
  13. We've only heard one side of this story. For all we know - and I suspect this will possibly be the case - the club have said to Mowbray 'now is not the time, let's talk once the season ends'. Mowbray is simply trying to engineer an opportunity for himself.
  14. Mowbray is trying to engineer a position of strength for himself here. Make it out like he's decided to leave, put the lack of contract 'blame' elsewhere, cite reasons of work/life balance, and get people feeling sorry for him. He'll either get a new contract here - which is what I think he's trying to force the issue with - or will resurface at some other club before long. Work/life balance my arse, he lives a millionaire's life of Riley does that man. He's trying to pull the wool over anyone who'll listen.
  15. I wouldn't be too sure that he's definitely made his mind up to leave, or that he actually will leave. I listened to the interview. The thought that came to my mind was that he's making it out that he is going to leave, but is perhaps doing so in the hope that Venky's will come crawling back to him. The fact that he wouldn't actually say he is leaving is telling. He's keeping his cards close to his chest IMO.
  16. Of course it doesn't paper over any cracks, but that result and performance will - or should - have put a smile on every Rovers fan's face. As GlenM says above, it means Saturday remains a meaningful game, and wouldn't it be nice to put another one over on Scott Parker'?
  17. It also reeks of incompetence.
  18. I watched Barcelona last night. As soon as the ball goes out, a fresh ball is handed to back to a Barca player pronto, players are immediately in position to receive the ball, the ball is thus quickly back in play and the other team are kept under pressure. I appreciate that we're dealing with a totally different standard of player, but that's just discipline and coaching IMO. Chalk and cheese with us.
  19. Prime example, throw ins. Decent sides take them quickly and keep the pressure on. We spend ages faffing about, then end up handing the ball back anyway.
  20. I said this at the time; the results couldn't have been any worse than sticking with Mowbray. Too late now of course. Hey ho.
  21. As a reminder, who actually said that the owners interfered?
  22. Still plenty of points to play for and weird results can still happen.
  23. If he goes to India, he will already have a new deal.
  24. Exactly. My view is that he said the owners wouldn't 'sanction the move' - whatever that means - because it suited him to say that at the time for his own reasons.
