Attendances: A cause for concern
Wheelton Blue replied to SIMON GARNERS 194's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
They seriously couldn't cope, they can barely cope now. The service in the refreshment areas just isn't efficient enough. -
It's a hole that needs plugging, is all I'm saying. Hopefully it will be.
-
I think I saw something recently - transfermarket.com or somewhere - which has him valued at 10m. I imagine that the reality will be somewhere in the Armstrong bracket. Whatever he goes for, it will leave a big hole in the goals-for column.

Attendances: A cause for concern
Wheelton Blue replied to SIMON GARNERS 194's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Maybe we'll get a burst of sales next week on the back of a positive result at Stoke. As far as our attendances go though, the bottom line is that people don't see value for money in watching Mowbray's team for the prices Waggot charges. Perhaps that will change if we stay within touching distance as the season unfolds. -
January Transfer window 2022

Amounts to the same thing though, and it was hardly a secret that Ayala wasnt the most robust. On his day though, Ayalya is a cut above, that's for sure. -
January Transfer window 2022
Wheelton Blue replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Great player absolutely....when he's on the pitch. If we judged the signing on last season - where he played what, 10 or so times? - then calling it another Mowbray disaster wouldn't have been off the mark. -
Perhaps we're at cross purposes. The point I was trying to make was in response to the previous poster over his assertion that Mowbray has as 'excellent' record of player purchases. If indeed we are to credit Mowbray for Brereton et al - players who cost a lot of money - then by definition we should also credit the owners for affording the expenditure. The irony here is that the poster in question habitually criticises the owners, but yet does not credit them for their part in those signings. He's simply contradicted himself.
-
You're just caveating it to suit your narative. You think he has an excellent record at signing players for a fee. I think he has a mediocre/poor record when it comes to his overall transfer policy. Needless to say, the proof of the pudding is progress on the pitch, which after 5 years is nowhere.
-
...and the millions he's had over his whole tenure to fund wages, loans etc. I'm not saying that Mowbray hasn't pulled off some good deals. But to describe his transfer dealings as 'excellent' is - to steal another poster's noun - 'hyperbole'
-
What are you on about now?
-
By definition then, we should also applaud the owners for backing Mowbray financially to fund these deals, especially as Mowbray has not been forced to sell. All Hail Venkys, eh?
-
In my opinion, it's abysmal.
-
Of course, Mowbray may well have had some success in the transfer market. Where he's been abysmal though, is putting a team together, one that can win sufficient games and make progress. A manager can buy all the superstars in the world, but that's no use if he can't make a team out of them. After 5 seasons, an 11th place 'highlight' tells me enough about him.
-
I'm not saying that they would. If fact, I doubt very much that they would. I'm just saying, in answer to a previous question, that they could.
-
Not really. Make everyone redundant.
-
They could simply just fold the business; pay off anyone they owe money to and flog what's left.
-
I agree with with what you say re: the owners. They're the one constant in our decline. I do believe that we can do better than Mowbray though, even with our owners.

What a mess this club is.

I think it's just laziness. -
So what are you saying then? That we stick with Waggott & Mowbray until Venkys leave?

We should be able to do a lot better than someone who's highlight is finishing in 11th place. -
He's just stating the bleeding obvious, more like.
-
Lucky you. I've got another couple of years left 😞
-
When I get called out at work, I do my level best to prove them wrong. But you're right. The next time we're getting booted out of a cup by a lower league team, or we're 3-0 down at half time after another insipid showing, I'll keep on clapping.
-
Disagree. Booing is way of projecting displeasure. If a player is not up to snuff, or the manager repeatedly makes the same mistakes etc, then I have no qualms at all with booing. They are football professionals, who have intentionally placed themselves in the public spotlight.
