Law of averages...we're due to not win at home. 1-2 -
John Eustace - our head coach

I'm pretty sure that every single Rovers supporter would be happy with 15 points from 9 games. But to simply dismiss concerns over recent performances as 'criticising for the sake of it', is blinkered. Those 9 games are history. -
I don't think it's in him to keep it simple. This might sound trivial, but I think sums him up. He played well against QPR, no question. During the second half of that game though, he had a simple 10 yard straight pass to make across the middle as we were attacking. Rather than simply moving the ball along with his instep, instead he attempted the pass with his outstep, trying to look clever. The result was that the ball ended up a yard behind where it should have been, and momentum was lost.

I agree, perspective is needed. Suggesting that Eustace should be given a new deal on the back of our early season start, seems at odds with that to me, though. The sensible thing to do would be to at least see how this season pans out. -

Rooney has won 3 home league games on the run. Just one more, then presumably Plymouth should be offering him a new deal? -
Pace generally costs money. Which we can't/won't/don't spend.

I didn't see the game yesterday, but I concur with your player assessments from what I've seen in games thus far. We're relying on too many average - or worse - players to ever be a team that as a whole is more than average, certainly not a consistent one. I think, though, that the recent changes to the back four have messed us up. We've regressed defensively from a team that was looking hard to beat. Eustace needs to get that solidity back as priority, or things could get sticky and we could tailspin. I'm not too despondent yet though, as I think he will. -
You don't think we could upgrade on them?

The back 4 will - or should - most certainly change at the least. -

Just compare that match programme to the pathetic digital download effort we now get... -

A hard one to call is this and a real test for Eustace after the last two terrible away performances. Will be bounce back against one of the weaker sides, or are things starting to level out after our good start? I'm going for 1-1. -

All of them are 1 in 10 goalscorers. -

No pace - or goals - in that side whatsoever. -
It's all about control, as is the case with many things in modern life.

For all the recent talk of how great Dolan has supposedly been this season so far, last night was a massive reality check. For the occasional good things he does, he more than offsets those as we saw last night. What the heck was he playing at for that second goal? The lad has what, 3 season's experience now, but doesn't seem to learn and thus improve. If only he'd ground himself, rid himself of his cockiness and flashy antics, and just concentrate on improving the basics of his game. IMO, he'll never be anything more than infuriating and inconsistent, with rare occasions of sparkle. -
Season tickets 17 game.

The trouble now is that they've painted themselves into a corner - yet again - with their exhorbitant ST prices. What they could do now is offer an incentive to those buying match tickets for a reduction on next season's STs. Buy a match ticket, get £2 or so off next season's ST. -
The lack of commercial nous is staggering. Instead of asking themselves why footfall is low and then proactively doing something to increase it, instead they simply just shut up shop.

It wasn't that long ago, that people - yourself included IIRC - when defending Southgate during the Euros, were claiming that the skills needed to manage the national side are different to those needed for a club side. You obviously believe that Southgate has the necessary skills for both types of role.

I'm predicting a draw for this one. Crap early kick off time (bloody Sky yet again) with a lowish crowd and an atmosphere to match. Law of averages says we're due to not win at home. 1-1 -

A comment I overheard walking off yesterday was 'our game management was really poor'. Summed it up to a tee, I thought, both on and off the pitch. -

Some realism. Dolan is a one-in-ten player. He was very good last week, but was really poor again yesterday, even by his standards. At times, his close control is non-existant, he doesn't seem to get the ball under control, giving the opponent half a chance to nick it. Hedges is such a limited footballer. He's passable when shoring up one side of the pitch in front of the full back, but offensively he offers nothing. -
Blimey, that's a blast from the past! I spent countless hours as a kid messing around up there! I wonder if it's still there...
