  1. Barca fans are a bit odd. I watched the Classico last week when there was nearly 90k on.
  2. By playing regularly with better players and being coached by better coaches, Armstrong will become a half-decent PL striker.
  3. My expectations at the start of the season were so low that anything above a relegation scrap would have been a bonus. I'm pleasantly suprised at where we are in the table, and as @tomphilsays, there's a lot to like about our younger players. Dolan in particular for me, plays in such a way that you can't help but like him. Over the course of the rest of the season though, Mowbray won't be able to help himself, we all know that. This is the frustrating part for me; if only he'd just stick to what works for the players he has and stops dicking around with tactics etc, we could have a surprisingly good season.
  4. Brereton and Graham are like chalk and cheese IMO. Graham had limited pace, and was at his best when playing centrally with the ball played into him. Brereton is at his best running with the ball at pace from wide positions.
  5. Good start to our 3 game week. Fulham will obviously be hard, but if we can get something from them and/or Sheffield, we'll be set up nicely before the break.
  6. No I'm not, I'm counting it from the time today's game kicks off. If the week starts at 3pm today, then it finishes at 2:59:59 pm next Saturday.
  7. Of course the blame for financial mismanagement lies with Waggot. He's the Chief Executive Officer, for crying out loud! Venkys employ him to manage the club, both commercially and compliantly, on their behalf.
  8. No. We have 3 games in 8 days, not 7.
  9. There's no difference whatsoever. If the owners decide to sell the club, it's irrelevant if the STC is on the books of the club or the new company. In the case of the former, they could have excluded the STC from any sale anyway, and just kept it for themselves. Conversely, in the case of the latter, they could insist that the STC is part of a sale of the club. At the end of the day, the Venkys still own the STC, irrespective of whether it's an asset of BRFC or an asset of the new company. It's their's to do with as they please either way.
  10. Our trajectory is downwards. 1 win in 5.
  11. I agree. Chaddy has a point though. If either won't sign no matter what, then we should sell them in January to at least get some money back.
  12. Both Gallagher and Brereton are poor at holding the ball up. Neither of them have sufficient control to do this effectively, and it's something we've missed since Graham. It's a big reason why we invite pressure IMO
  13. Tough game this, even more so if Ayalya & Nyambe are missing. A draw would be decent. 1-1
  14. Price is definitley more of a factor now though. The cost of watching a match these days, is relatively far more expensive than what it was back in the day.
  15. My thoughts are the same. On the face of it, the 'sale' of the STC from BRFC to the new business makes short term sense from a FFP angle; it allows the owners to inject additional cash into the business. Once a business starts to sell assets to raise cash though, that's never a good sign. This is effectively what they're doing.
  16. Get a grip. You asked a question, so I gave a possible answer. That's not to say I believe it.
  17. Possibly because it gives them the same opportunity in the next FFP cycle. ie 'sell' the STC to to beef up income in this cycle. Then 'sell' the Academy in the next cycle, if need be.
  18. Presuambly then, if Mowbray was potted and the gig offered to McCarthy, he would dismiss the offer out of hand? Nah. Didn't think so.
  19. It's very rare that I hear swearing around where I sit in the JWU. Mind you, we're lucky to get 6 people sat on our row these days, so that probably explains it!
  20. Thinking ahead to the position the club will find themselves in at season end: We'll likely once again end up somewhere in the bottom half. Mowbray maybe gone, or maybe not. Who knows? It's possible that we'll have lost some, if not all, of Nyambe, Rothwell, Lenihan for next to nothing. It's possible that Brereton and Kaminski will be entering their final year, with a similar risk of losing them for nothing. If a new guy does come in to take over, he'll likely be in a position where the squad once again needs significant investment and a massive overhaul. Considering the fact that Mowbray will have been here for 5 years, but to be basically back where we started with him, is nothing short of pathetic. What a terrible legacy that would be.
  21. Crikey. I merely requoted - in verbatim - from the newpaper article. Your unstinting defence of all things Mowbray has no boundraries, it would appear.
  22. Wasn't Paulo Maldini a right footed left back?
