  1. Presuambly then, if Mowbray was potted and the gig offered to McCarthy, he would dismiss the offer out of hand? Nah. Didn't think so.
  2. It's very rare that I hear swearing around where I sit in the JWU. Mind you, we're lucky to get 6 people sat on our row these days, so that probably explains it!
  3. Thinking ahead to the position the club will find themselves in at season end: We'll likely once again end up somewhere in the bottom half. Mowbray maybe gone, or maybe not. Who knows? It's possible that we'll have lost some, if not all, of Nyambe, Rothwell, Lenihan for next to nothing. It's possible that Brereton and Kaminski will be entering their final year, with a similar risk of losing them for nothing. If a new guy does come in to take over, he'll likely be in a position where the squad once again needs significant investment and a massive overhaul. Considering the fact that Mowbray will have been here for 5 years, but to be basically back where we started with him, is nothing short of pathetic. What a terrible legacy that would be.
  4. Crikey. I merely requoted - in verbatim - from the newpaper article. Your unstinting defence of all things Mowbray has no boundraries, it would appear.
  5. Wasn't Paulo Maldini a right footed left back?
  6. 'If we're brutally honest, he isn't good', is what Mowbray was quoted as saying in that newspaper article.
  7. It's one thing Mowbray talking and coaching players behind the scenes in order to improve them. That's his job, after all. It's something completely different to then criticise them in public.
  8. I don't see why Edun/Pickering/Nyame couldn't swap sides at a push. The principles of full back play are surely the same, irrespective of which side of the pitch is being defended. Argubly easier to do this, than ask a centre half to play at full back.
  9. On our day we do have a pretty good team. The trouble we have is that our days only come around on average once every 4 games.
  10. We never hear any words of ambition coming from either Mowbray or Waggot. It's all guff like 'journey', 'we'll see where we are...' wishy washy nonsense. A manager worth his salt would say something like 'I expect that in 2 seasons we'll be in the top 6' A CEO worth his salt would say something like 'The plan is to have 12k season ticket holders next season' Of course they never say anything of the sort, for the simple reason that they're on easy street. The worse bit about it though, is that they're allowed to get away with it.
  11. Yeah, I suppose Brentford might be a good move. They tend to improve players. Bournemouth though. That shows just how far we've fallen.
  12. I'm not so sure, Chaddy. He's not Premier League standard, so playing in front of 50k every other week with guaranteed european games is about as good as it will get for him.
  13. I had the very same flashback!
  14. After a poor standard first half, that was a decent win in the end. Why Mowbray can't just stick to that formation, one that seems to suit the players the most, I'll never understand.
  15. The £20m is not an investment, as there's no return on it.
  16. Pickering out & Travis doubtful according to El Mog
  17. Two teams coming off the back of poor results. Stalemate. 1-1.
  18. If for no other reason, we need a change of manager simply for change's sake. The whole thing is stale and the fans need a shot in the arm, something new to believe in.
  19. No one on this board did say that Rovers spent £85k, did they? It was a hypothetical coversation. So what on earth are you going on about?
  20. I've done a quick calc of the points we've amassed over the last 46 league games, or the equivalent to a full season. This comes in at 56 points, one less than what we finished up with at season end. 56 points would have placed us in 15th last season, exactly where we ended up. I also totted up the points amassed since the start of last season's death spiral, starting on 6/2 ironically with a 1-0 loss at QPR. In total, we've played 33 games since then, gaining 35 points. Extrapolating that over 46 games, we'd end up with 48 points. Last season that would have placed us in 20th place, just 5 points safe from relegation. I accept that we can fit statistics to suit any narrative, but this to me is clear evidence that we're regressing. It has to be turned around, or relegation will become a reality sooner or later.
  21. That's my fear. Unless the club acts quickly, we're in the mire. I genuinely think we'll go down unless something drastic happens.
  22. I read a post - last night I think it was - likening Mowbray to someone playing Career Mode on Fifa. This is so true. It's as if he thinks he has a real-life games console, trying to be clever, swallowing the trivial stats, and going from game to game picking random formations and player positions. It's beyond a joke, it really is.
  23. Spot on. All 4 of the summer loans look poor to me. A total waste, based on what I've seen so far.
  24. Players were fatigued, he says. I don't buy that at all. Aside from Brereton, they've all just had a fortnight off!
