  1. Brereton was indeed woeful on Tuesday. His close control was abysmal. I can't help but think that all this Chile/Pepsi business is turning him into some sort of cult figure, but disguising the fact that he's not all that he's cracked up to be.
  2. Mowbray doesn't have the players to get out of a death spiral. Last season he eventually found a win by simply randomly rotating the team until he struck lucky. He doesn't have the numbers this time to do that. 2-0 Millwall.
  3. There's no doubt about it in my mind, we're going to struggle massively this season with Mowbray still here. The old failings are still there and he won't change. Winning is a habit, but so is losing. The habit we have under Mowbray is the latter; he hasn't got it in him to consistently win football matches. 5 or so wins in 20 odd games is a joke. Looking at the upcoming fixtures, I just can't see us getting many points.
  4. They must have visibility of what the revenue figures are and how they're made up. Whether they're actually bothered to understand or challenge them though is another matter.
  5. Probably because the powers that be can't be bothered, nor are they imaginative enough to try other options.
  6. Six thousand. Wow. It's going to be an eye opener in the ground tomorrow looking out at the vast swathes of empty seats. If Waggott's head doesn't roll for this, then it never will.
  7. I'm not so sure @tomphil. It's only a matter of time before we'll hit another death spiral, but with the state of the squad it will be even harder to get out of. Plus, he won't have the luxury of an empty stadium.
  8. Agreed. I fully expect that after 5 games or so, with just a few points on the board, that the crowd will be on Mowbray's case and then on to Waggott's. It won't be long IMO.
  9. 3) What happens when said loanees get injured or are recalled by their parent clubs? Do we then change to yet another style? The guy is embarassing.
  10. I noticed earlier that La Liga is £6.99/month through Prime. If the coming season is as good as last, that looks a good price to me.
  11. Mowbray doesn't have the luxury anymore of picking various/random line ups from his expensively assembled squad, whereby due to the law of averages, he got a few results. He now, due to a limited squad size of limited ability, will have to find a way to find a settled team playing in a settled way, He's just not capable of doing this.
  12. This is what I think. I reckon they were told months ago - not just in the last couple of weeks - that costs would have to be cut. Hence the previous botched attempt to flog Brockhall, the exodus of players at season end, and the non-arrival of transfers.
  13. It's still not clear who is/could be pushing the Brockhall sale. Is is Venkys, forcing the issue to sell off assets? Or is it the Coventrio, who upon being told to cut costs, go for what they see as an easy option a la Coventry?
  14. Like Wednesday, it was good to see some live football again. For the first hour or so we were awful, at 2-0 Mowbray started to get some grief make no mistake. If we play that midfield in the league, we'll get battered. Travis was well off the pace, Davenport is just too small IMO. Carter had a mare. Armstring just jogged around, should have given McBride another run. The subs completely changed the game. Rothwell and Buckley in particular got us on the front foot, good finish from BBD for the second. Decent turn out in the end from Rovers, 1200 or so I think.
  15. Back on topic. Last minute decision to head down to Horwich. We should be playing out strongest team today as should Bolton, so we should get a more realistic picture of where we're at. COYB
  16. 1. No - he'll leave at the end of the season 2. No - he'll be gone by November amidst the first death spiral 3. Kaminski 4. 18th 5. Fulham
  17. Spot on. There was no value whatsover in giving Downing, Evans et al game time towards the end of the season. Mowbray would have known that they were leaving. Pathetic.
  18. I'm clinging to the hope that he leaves or gets potted in time for a new guy to come in and do a rescue act. I can't see us getting many points from the first few games, so the pressure may mount fairly quickly. I could be wishful thinking though I guess....
  19. Exactly. People who don't take accountability usually try and deflect the blame on to others.
  20. Reach is probably weighing up his options, stringing it out as long as he can to get the best deal for himself. After his latest excuse making of the squad being too young, If Mowbray just ends up doing his usual of loaning other clubs' young players, then he's going to look an even bigger fool than usual. We need players with experience and presence to help our young players along.
  21. Travis was in the JW; saw him at half time. Presumably he's injured.
  22. As a relative newcomer to this site... Compared to most internet discussion boards/forums etc, it's obvious that there are people behind the scenes putting in time and effort to maintain the integrity of the site from which we all benefit. Here, we're not exposed to vitriol, we only see a modicum of poor language or agressiveness, messages are moderated, and debate is generally enjoyable. I appreciate that. I'd gladly hand over a beer token each month if that helps to maintain the experience. If people want 'free', I suggest they look first at comparable sites to see what 'free' gets you. Maybe try the LT reader comments sections first.
  23. I enjoyed being back in my seat and watching a live match with a suprisingly decent atmosphere. The youngsters played well in the main, but we need some experience and presence in the side, or we'll struggle over time.
