  1. Well I don't think it's unrelated as it's talked about in the same interview. Yes it's not next door and yes it doesn't create instant funds to pay for it, I get that. Yes I understand the sale price I wouldn't expect anything else, that's generally what happens when developers by land. Not often they give a share of the profits from each roof so to speak but it's a proposal to see if there is permission, to consider the objections and with a proposed end goal in sight. I get the reaction and don't expect everyone to agree, but until any proposal is shared and assuming it is in all its detail I think its hard to say we will have a like for like but smaller facility. Didnt even seem sure how many floors it would be so it sounds very early on. As for indefensible, my argument is in defence of some of the accusations and comments made as in some cases I think some of it is harsh. I don't think we can call it indefensible until that detail about the whole proposal is on the table. If people see it as indefensible then it's their opinion but that shouldn't mean anyone with a different view gets stick. Challenge my opinion fine, it's a forum but questioning if I'm Waggott in disguise, a true Rovers fan, hard of understanding etc. goes beyond that
  2. Well I needed a place to vent after the last month hence I signed up. The wife is tired of hearing it but I will always give an opinion especially if its different to the general consensus as that's what forums are about. Sometimes you read things and it changes your mind as you appreciate a different view point. Sometimes it just helps see it from a different angle but it's clear this situation is too far down the road and only time and action will will change perception
  3. Yeah a proposal. There were several aspects of the proposal discussed which part 1 is to change Brockhall to a smaller condensed space with a pitch that matches the Ewood pitch, part 2 to sell the land left behind for houses and part 3 was about how to get Ewood generating funds. That was the gist
  4. The indoor pitches that play differently to outdoor pitches? Again was covered in the session today to replicate the Ewood pitch but perhaps we couldn't find a negative to that.
  5. Yeah I'm sure Butty. Thanks for checking but if you read back you'll see I was accused of trolling so my response is to say I've got better things to do than wind up Blackburn fans. In fact I think it would be quite sad to sit and learn about another club and sit in a forum just to aggrevate people. Mowbray alone does enough to aggrevate these days, he don't need me. In summary I've learnt this week, as a new poster I am to go with the flow, agree with the people with the most likes in order to be accepted, hate everything there is to hate, claim to be able to do it better having an ounce of real information to go on and then I can be considered a true Rovers fan.
  6. Top class frozen pitches yes. It's hard to access the top cat 1 facilities so not many people outside of the daily football world know the level these other clubs are at but cat 1 is a standard, a bench mark. The scale above cat 1 is massive as to where it can then go on to. Something that's only had minor investment from 20 years ago is bound to have been left behind to a degree. As per a previous post, the footba world has evolved massively since then with the aid of sports science etc.
  7. I'm not sure what you mean. You asked me about the generating funds part not about the cost of renovating Brockhall. Someone with a different opinion doesn't have to be a troll. I work about 17hrs a day generally, I've got better things to do that wind up disgruntled Blackburn fans who I sit beside, cheer beside, moan beside when not in a pandemic...
  8. Sell off and put back in to build something else to replace. I'm not sure that would offset the losses. Creating gems that either take us back to the Premier League or who are sold on would be my stance
  9. The generating funds bit was covered by the plans to make Ewood more of a regular income stream with its development. Can you read?
  10. I get that and the club I mentioned before left many of my work friends without a club. I can only imagine how it would feel and its gut wrenching
  11. Apologies I thought you felt it was their intention and meant it as wasn't it their intention. I don't defend the majority of their tenure, I think I've been clear on that. It should never have happened but it can't be changed. They got promotion if you look at it the same way as getting relegated and that's more recent so perhaps now hapless and we lose the hopeless until Premier League status is restored? At the risk of repeating, since stepping back their is no coincidence that things have stopped sliding as they were. That coincides with the appointments we've debated to death. A promotion followed, consolidation in the Championship and up until February there was a quiet optimism of being around the play offs. I don't like the lack of action in removing Mowbray and it concerns me how long it could go on for but the general direction based on the facts we actually know for certain and the world we live in I'm not so concerned about. If and when someone announces the loss of cat 1 status I will be as upset as the rest I just don't see it happening, not for now anyway.
  12. Yes and in that moment maybe that's what he thought. Have you ever said anything 3 years ago that maybe you felt differently about after? If the proposal was to end cat 1 status I'm on board but it's not the suggestion. I get it's trust and trust has to be earnt, maybe at the end of this there will be some trust and harmony...
  13. Yes I meant how can it be highest standard possible after 20 years. Times moved on so I'm sure there will be more that can be done. If we want to bench mark against the championship clubs then I completely agree, leave it alone but I don't get that impression. If a local kid has a choice of playing for Blackburn youth or a Premier League youth team, does he want to be part of the championship bench mark or part of a Premier league standard. Category 1 is of course in our favour, our record of blooding youngsters is in our favour but whilst we are mid table plodders in the Championship year after year and that facility is ageing when the Premier League clubs have category 1 but at the very highest level and continue to pump money into it because the finance at the top allows them to, I think we get left behind and for me, that's what the proposal is out to address whilst also raising much needed funds through the housing and enabling the ground to generate money daily not just on match days. Essentially it's sweating the assets which all clubs outside of the Premier League these days have to do, whether it's Yoga classes, a Hotel, Cinema or Retail complex.
  14. These are business people, they aren't going to just accept 200 million losses and walk away are they? I'm not protecting their mistakes but if we were in business, got it wrong, inherited huge debts as a result, would we walk away or reevaluate and step back trust in who we see as capable, I know not an opinion shared to get stability and then build to get back to where it needs to be to recover those losses. Clearly that takes time and might not ever get there but I don't know why anyone would walk away with a 200 million loss. As for my skullduggery my first post explained my presence but it was exactly the crisis that gave me the nudge to share my thoughts here although that was towards Mowbray. I've been on here for just over a week so my posting history will take time to build up to those acceptable levels. A difference of opinion isn't skullduggery though.
  15. Ha ha don't invite me onto the poison chalice. I need positivity in life. I do understand the apprehension and I've seen it a club not far from me which incidentally is on BT next Tuesday but although a smaller club that was done brutally, completely different to what I see these days at Blackburn. Up until a few years ago I was completely aligned with what I read on here but I just see it differently to the majority with what I've seen over the past couple of years. I just see it from from a different angle. The failure on the pitch only makes things worse as the dark cloud grows. I know the answer but what would it take for fans to see things differently?
  16. Are they here to get rich off the club or to get us relegated and worthless? I'm not defending the majority if their tenure, it was a shambles but I don't think they intended to get us relegated, I'm not sure what is achieved for anyone in that unless Venkys are secret Burnley fans.
  17. Hand over debt free. Who picks up the debt?
  18. How can it be. Anything built 30 years ago is going to need renovating to a level but football has changed massively in that time and 30 years in football may as well be dog years. Remember when Shearer went for 15 million and everyone stood back. Today that's 150 million plus which just shows how things change and that was less than 30 years ago. I'm not saying it's a rusty wreck but let's remember we had frozen pitches and trained at Ewood a couple of times this year which we all know is not Premier League standard. The proposal mentioned in parts at addressing that kind of thing.
  19. Of course it is about trust and clearly their is none from the majority. I'm in the minority I know that. Losing cat 1 status would be a disaster but the club acknowledged that and I don't see that is the intention. I see a proposal that intends on retaining that status whilst generating funds and setting the club for the next 20 years by investing into the infrastructure. Time will tell, maybe I'll have to come back cap in hand, maybe I'll get some apologies when and if it happens and we know whether that trust was well placed or not.
  20. Simple yes if only you knew. Simple because I see things differently....
  21. Love change? They propose change and its ridiculed. As I say I've been on here a week or so and it's toxic. If anyone offers any opinion or perspective from a different angle they are shot down. I'll say again its a proposal, for me it makes some sense and I don't see much other choices in the world we live if we want to kick on. It needs to kick on on the pitch but it has to have foundations behind it, the same as Mr Walker did before. Again as I said before, Walker carried respect and trust heading in so its recieved positively and was replacing nothing really. No matter what is suggested unless they paid solely from their own pockets, it will be ridiculed.
  22. If that's your opinion Matt, that's up to you. It's not mine based on some of the points made previously.
  23. It doesn't matter if I live in Torquay or Blackburn. I'm still a fan and a regular in the days we all could. Where I live has got nothing to do with me giving an opinion. I am as frustrated as the rest in regards to Mowbray as I've shared so not sure why it makes me "Steve". You contradict yourselves. My point is the club has stabilised from where it was, plenty of others besides me have commented on that but it's TM that gets the credit as he is the public face. I'm not saying its perfect and turned around but it's in a better state than it was. I work in a sector that's full of people who hate change and always want everything to stay the same, much like here. I've achieved a lot in my career but nearly always the change is greeted with resistance and negativity yet through the right involvement and communication I can get people on board and make each project or change a success. The communication ball's up last weekend hasn't helped but from a week on this forum its clear to me that the only thing me "Steve" lol or the owners can do is leave. No matter what they suggest or try will never be right or accepted. I'm not deluded, I'm not gullible I just agree on the way forward given the limited resources, space etc to make that possible. Very little income for 12 months and the club announces these plans and strengthen both in the summer and with a little business in January. Where do we think the money comes from? Alternative is cash in on Armstrong maybe Dack if he finds form and then the daggers will be out for that. Its a similar mindset to a nation that expects a government to have a bottomless pit of cash to support everyone's needs but can never do right from wrong because the armchair keyboard warriors are Pep in disguise, CEO in the making, prime minister in the making. Truth is we know very little, next to nothing of what goes on and yet judge mostly in hindsight based on snippets and rumours. If I was Venkys and read some of the stuff on here, I'd pull out and see how long the club stood, hand it over to the fans and let these know all masters on here take the club into Europe. Forget Hughes and Bellamy, we've got Stuart and Wovers!!!
  24. Ask his wife. What kind of a question is that? No one on this forum would know or have any business knowing.
  25. Perhaps you haven't read today's interview or you are naturally anti change? Perhaps you still travel by horse and cart? Maybe even scribe messages into the rocks? Please don't feel the need to question my optimism as some can see the positives and do have an element of trust. Its a proposal and yet you sound like someone who has just heard the club has folded. Do we really believe the whole stability piece was just Mowbray? Do we think Waggott would come to a club in millions of pounds of debt and slipping into obscurity just to sell off some land for some houses? I think there would be much more attractive options than where the club was when they came in and more importantly where it was heading. I wrote what I did last night and to me, today's interview only confirmed where my head was with a little more detail. A lot of what is talked about is what many clubs have done other than start fresh at a new ground and base which usually gets criticised as the history is lost etc.
