  1. Warnock was about 12hrs premature me thinks
  2. I predict a piss poor March to follow the year so far. We will then put a good run together for the rest of the season and miss out by a point or on goal difference. We will all remember nights like tonight because there have been so many and it will be clear where it was lost. I've long hoped and even believed Gallagher would deliver when his moment came up top but he is actually getting worse with age rather than better. Giles on the right again is just madness and we are back to the same old baffling decisions that have seen us fail before. Still don't understand the Hedges signing, would rather have seen that money spent on contracts for those that deserve it which may have given them a lift to drive on. We've gone from an attacking threat with no defence to a solid unit with no goals in the space of a year. We struggled last year when Armstrong was out, sheer luck that Diaz reincarnated himself over the summer to give us goals and what have we learnt...zero as now we are left with no goals at all and look like it will never happen
  3. Spartak Moscow forward Shamar Nicholson could be interesting?
  4. Was there not a bid from America we rejected too?
  5. Don't disagree but to be clear it wasn't my choice of lineup, just what I expected to see. Hopefully Gallagher has been practicing how to finish Giles crosses...
  6. I wasn't saying Johnson was the answer to counter attacking. I said he would be Mowbrays safe bet in terms of holding. The attacking threat is what I meant was set for counter attacking in that its pace rather than a gangly Gallagher for example. Anyone that watches Blackburns games will know Johnson is not the key to a counter attacking system but he is liked by Mowbray when needing to firm up the middle of the park, especially away from home.
  7. I can't see Mowbray changing formation especially now players are returning. Ayala will come in for Lenihan but if anything happens to the 3 that start, it will force a change of formation at that point imo. So I think Kaminski, Nyambe, Ayala, Van Hecke, Wharton, Giles, Travis, Johnson, Rothwell, Brereton, Khadra I think Dolan, Pickering and Gallagher will be used from the bench having come back from injury. Buckley needs to sit one out for me and away at West Brom I think Mowbray will play safer with someone like Johnson as we've seen before. Well set for counter attacking in my opinion. Someone mentioned Carroll bullying, I'd like to see Van Hecke shape up against him for this.
  8. Agreed not signed. He can't sign till he turns 17 so anything can happen. Let's see how it pans out, in an ideal world he won't move and we'll never know. If he does move I'm sure you'll be straight back here to acknowledge
  9. He's not under contract so yes he could walk for a nominal fee at tribunal the same as Elliott did when leaving Fulham for Liverpool. Yes he has agreed to sign a professional contract when he turns 17, in April I think but that's as good as us verbally accepting a job offer in our everyday lives. We have to hope he sees his opportunity here to grow and develop and build for that move in the future rather than rotting with another 50 young centre back's trying to break through. If he does I'm sure he'll honour his word and sign but if his head is turned, we stand to be disappointed.
  10. Absolutely but 2nd in the league at the end of Jan should prompt some forward planning and initially this was a pre contract agreement for the summer. The stage is now set for a heros substitute appearance to turn tonight on its head....
  11. You did quote my post though??? My opinion of the signing isn't based on one game, it's based on the type of player and what I've seen prior to him signing. He's been linked for over 6 months so like most, I've paid some attention to Aberdeen over that period and I'm not saying he's not a good player with capability but he certainly isn't Premier League, only likely to start losing his pace in the near future and doesn't have a great record for goals and assists. I just don't see what he adds other than another number. I would have like to have seen us bring in another option to affect the game personally. Whilst Saturday night did nothing to change my mind, I wouldn't make a comment on one cameo in a patched together squad.
  12. I said jury was out and I just don't get the signing. Is that harsh criticism? Not to mention it was in a post where I played down any expectation from the game???
  13. We all knew yesterday was going to be tough based on the injuries and lack of activity in the window. It's odd reading so many people were shocked or disappointed in what was inevitable yesterday. At best against a poor Swansea team I thought the defence would see us through for a nil nil, with the optimist in me thinking maybe someone could nick a goal from a set play. Buying a striker for one game when we know Khadra and Brereton are back for Forest is a waste of money, especially when signing up Gallagher and he too won't be far behind plus Dolan. Unless it was going to be a 20 goal a season player, I just don't see the point in adding more of what we have. Yesterday was always one to take it on the chin. We know what this group can do as they've shown all season. Adding Giles makes is stronger I'm sure. Jury is still out on Hedges for me, just not getting it. As always we are left underwhelmed which sets it up perfectly for Forest mid week. Always when we least expect a performance, bang it comes and hopefully Forest will be over confident from today.
  14. Bournemouth would say it's under consideration as it keeps us hanging and potentially makes us weaker. As an aside, is the Internet broken?
  15. Cantwell on loan for the remainder of the season with option to buy. 23yr old out of the Norwich team and would fit nicely in replacing Joe Rothwell P.s. apologies Fraserkirky its tagged a quote that I responded to earlier and won't let me remove it
  16. Not saying I'd want them, was just thinking nothing perhaps affordable given Derby's plight. Jozwiak might be more for the future as we hopefully won't be in this league next season and then a Polish international winger with his prime years ahead for just 1 or 2 million isn't looking so bad
  17. Just watching Derby and made me think the two 23 to 24yr old could be Bielik and back in for Jozwiak. Wouldn't say either were direct Rothwell replacements but then again there aren't many who carry the ball like Rothwell does
  18. Injuring Gallagher may actually have done us a favour as it was clearly not working. No strength to bring on but at least it means we try something different. Butterworth to unleash a 25 yarder....
  19. My response to the posts before were about going for it, calling the owners ambition into question etc. I don't see how spending a little is going for it. I think we all expect the club to spend a little as per the quotes in the press but how someone defines little and going for it is perhaps the question
  20. So what is go for it then? 2 million is not exactly going for it
  21. I'm not saying they are blameless but I'm talking about the here and now. If everything they do is based on what's gone before then we may as well shut the gates. I'm not excusing them for any of that but based on the point of here and now to just go for it, they would get even more pelters. The only way it works is they go for it and it comes off but it's a big if. This squad has again proved tonight what it can do so I stand by my point, a few heads to add some strength and depth and we don't need to squander millions. The bench is generally weak but our starting 11 is delivering most weeks hence we sit 2nd. Only at Blackburn could 2nd in the league feel so depressing!
  22. At the end of the season if we didn't go up and then ended up like Derby, there would be riots
  23. If they go for it and it all goes wrong and we miss out the owners will get pelters for being reckless with our club. It's a bit like a government, dammed if they do, dammed if they don't. By not exactly going for it this year we are having our best season in years so whilst I think they will still strengthen some more, they will also do it carefully to not leave the finances of the club at risk. With the Derby situation unfolding in real time, it makes total sense to continue as is. A lot of business is done late on and 2 or 3 faces to add some depth this week will give us that as long as the quality is right.
  24. The lads had chances but never grasps it, one way or the other. I'd love to hear that he'd returned a new man and trained well to then come off the bench and tear his old club apart with a 30min cameo that secures all 3 points which goes on to become his making. He has ability but as has been said many times, something is missing and it will probably see him running out in League 1 next season followed by a gradual slide down the pyramid.
