  1. Rothwell will extend if no takers or serious interest in January...
  2. I don't think I've watched a single Cardiff performance at all this season apart from when we destroyed them but Moore obviously is their standout player. Knowing he's out if you look at the rest of their squad, it's very uninspiring. A togetherness from their group sitting deep without fans to get on their back to attack will make life difficult so I think an early goal is crucial to draw them out. I'm confident we'll get the early goal through Buckley and go on to win 3-0 with Brereton and Rothwell adding.
  3. And he won't be able to play against the u23's on Monday
  4. I'd sooner try an injured Gallagher in goal than Pears but transfer news please
  5. TM, if you're reading, I can get you down to Portman Road at around 9am if you need a lift. Free of charge as its only one way...my only condition is, you don't speak 🤮 👍🏻
  6. How about Elliott comes back to rehabilitate after injury to fill the void left by Poveda?
  7. I don't think Downing comes out of it with much credibility. No one else signed him after his first season so the fact we gave him something when no one fancied it is a bit rum to complain in my opinion. Not like he was turning up for free? A professional footballer not retired doesn't train for 4 weeks? Says more about him than us. I get it must be hard and demoralising but as a free agent you've got to prove yourself. With that attitude I'm not surprised he didn't get a chance. Everyone knows, until its signed anything can happen so yes it wasn't handled in the best way but that's the life of a footballer. Happens in our every day lives as well whether it be work, moving house etc. I also think he misses the point about his mate Mogga, he picks the team and didn't play him so why all the comments about the owners. Given all of Moggas lies and twisting of words we've seen through many interviews, I would wonder if this was the owners or good honourable Tony just not able to do the honourable thing....again.
  8. I think the Ainsworth doubters will always doubt because of that link to the club. It's a bit like the son who plays for the team his Dad manages, he can never win as its always looked at, only coz your Dad is the coach... Ainsworth worked wonders with Wycombe and that team had no right to be on the Championship compared to what they were up against in League 1. With little investment they went back down and have lost some of the key players in that squad but still compete. I get that people will think it's with the heart but I genuinely like Ainsworth as a personality and what he's achieved as a manager. Wilder would be most peoples choice I guess but I just can't see it here in this climate and where the club is today. He will get one of the top jobs next time one comes up or a sleeping giant that has promised funds, maybe even a relegation scrap in the Premier League. As for the Bodo guy, won't pretend to know him or the Norwegian league but the Roma team was pretty weak. Will reserve judgement until I learn some more... that said, in 12 months time we'll be having this same conversation and probably every month in between 😟🤮
  9. Whatever food we want to compare TM to, pie, cabbage.... The truth is its old, rotting, stinks, past its best before date, leaves a very sour taste and needs binning!
  10. We know what is posted here is used by the journos as easy journalism to create headlines, often taking comments in here as their own ideas and views. Too coincidental that the views on here appear two days later in the LT etc We also know the views on here make their way into the club so from me, to you Tony, please clear off now. You are bad for my health, bad for the club, bad for player development, bad tactician, bad listen and generally bad news. As for Chris Suttons views, I respect you as a player and what you achieved and played a part of but just watch one or maybe two games if you can be bothered and then give an opinion. What TM has on him, I'd love to know...might talk eloquently but I'd rather listen to the honest and in touch views of Sir Colin Hendry! That's a man needed in the changing room to fire things up!
  11. I read somewhere about a party atmosphere. Even the passionate Geordie faith with billionaire backing lost their voice on Sunday so not sure there's enough to create anything of a party atmosphere based on the last few games. Creating a hostile ferocious backlash towards the ownership and TM though with even a 20,000 backing might be a start and good therapy for many!
  12. I'll drive him to Newcastle myself albeit he's riding in the boot as I just couldn't listen to it
  13. Another midweek game available on the red button for someone who struggles to make midweek games, another chance to show the nation what we are and yet again it's a dog awful mess. What does it say about the Championship when a team on the edge of the play offs is that bad. I saw a doomed Newcastle side on Sunday and thought wow, they are bad but tonight is next level. We are the easiest and most predictable team to play against. You know everytime there is even the slightest press we will play back to Kaminski, its then going out for a throw or back to the opposition, either way we lose possession. Was only a matter of time tonight, could feel it coming and for a team like QPR who have been scoring at will, we were lucky to escape with a one nil. Now Mowbray will Lord us up for only being beaten by the odd goal, aren't we competitive? I think not. I still like the Lenihan/Ayala pairing, bloody hecke is way off the pace and needs more u23 time in my opinion. The attempted header that went under his foot said it all. Edun needs a run of games to settle down, Clarkson can go back and lace Harvey's boots. Pickering will be ok over the season I think, but Nyambe was clearly a level above anyone in a Rovers shirt tonight in my opinion. Brereton starved, Butterworth not ready, Rothwell gave us little and Johnson at least added some experience after Travis was injured and for his first game, thought he did OK. We all know, on their day this squad can produce but are mid table at best when all planets are aligned. It looks set to get worse when we couldn't really imagine how after the abysmal transfer window. Needs clearing from the very top including down to Mowbray, even if it means a few years of mire to bounce back but until that, I literally see a plane with no wings, way up in the clouds that is just slowly dwindling towards a crash where I literally see the end, far worse than even where Derby sit now. Who would buy us though? Only a very rich Rovers fan or a foreign group with money to burn but we know what that looks like. Then to replace TM, I'm sure Ainsworth would love a pop at working miracles with the setup and the fact it's a level above but aside from that, I just don't see the attraction with where the club now is and is clearly heading. Fasten your seat belts, the next Tony death spiral has begun and this one is going to be ferocious. Last year's was a gale, this year I think is going to be a twister...
  14. A lot of people won't have seen Sancho have a good game unless they watch a lot of bundesliga where he was excellent. Most of all fearless which is not replicated in an England or United shirt so far. I do think he had a good game against Ukraine in the Euros though. I was pleasantly surprised to see the lineup but for me I will never understand the Grealish sub. For me he is one of the first names on the teamsheet for the threat he carries and Southgate is right, he needs to add goals. Taking him off made no sense. Saka is so similar to Sterling and with Sterling poor, that was the change to make if it weren't to be Sancho. Kane is a threat but so poor so far this season, so off his game and rightly subbed. Abraham has been ok for Roma but the squad lacked a real threat to Kanes position. Regardless of the penalty I thought Shaw was poor for most of the night and I think Chilwell should have been given a chance to change it round. A frustrating night and it's now much closer than it should be.
  15. Lately? It's been going on for years at various clubs big and small for a long long time sadly
  16. But he is working very hard on set pieces this season in attack and defence 🤣🤣
  17. To quote a favourite...we only lost by the 1 goal 😔
  18. Wilshere has signed for Derby anyway I think
  19. Apologies if it's already been said but at least we will be the best dressed team to get relegated. I can't think of any better unless I'm biased...
  20. A summer of nothing from Mowbray and you almost start to forget what a clown he is. Bang! Pre season kicks off like he has never been away and here we go again... One statement after the other and it's a familiar tale, almost as if he hasn't been slaughtered enough over the summer months and in some sick way he's missed it. I try to avoid his dross but still it pops up in here and I just can't escape it. I literally despise the man. Not again please... I need a counsellor...
  21. Where's the line that takes the striker to right back? It's probably the only line missing from that nonsense
  22. And we've seen investment with no sales so perhaps that hinders my "misplaced optimism"
  23. Sorry that it's not clear but nowhere do I say I want TM making the decisions? Unless you know something I don't he's the Manager and it shows no sign of changing despite all hope. My point is still that the summer is in its early stages and as we see every year, the squad has time to take shape so the gloom over our current squad as I was responding to originally is premature. Of course we would all want it to look better and set ready for the 1st day of pre season but has that ever been the case? As you quoted, let's say we retained those released, sure we would have numbers but would be writing about a lack of quality and why did we sign a b and c who aren't up to the job. The club has cleared the decks of players most have said aren't up to it. Some remain divided on the quality of 1 or 2 retained but the decks are clear to bring in new players through the summer. Gloom in May is just to early in my opinion. Gloom on TM I fully support...
  24. It's the journey remember. We need TM to conduct a press release to remind us. I'm joking of course, I know where you are coming from and feel the same dread but there is so much time where it can change. Most are on a downer because of TM, the ownership etc. and now a depleted squad but if we retained Bell, Evans, Holtby, Downing and Bennett, would anyone feel any better? Armstrong has been rumoured for so long its almost inevitable. I personally think he will remain but if he goes its what was expected and at least there should be some money to spend. That leaves the loanees that we knew would return to their parent clubs and rare they return for a 2nd year so it was inevitable it would look like this for a little while. If it still looks like this at the end of July or worse, I'm in the same place.
  25. No no no. Not what I'm saying at all. I've been very clear I'm done with TM and have said so for months. Even if we signed 5 World beaters I'd still want him gone. I'm just saying the squad itself has plenty of time to take shape. Last year it came together late and most were excited to who was signed. It didn't work out as most hoped or expected which comes back to the first point and the trend in this thread, TM is not wanted. We've not got millions to do the business early especially when lokking at the loan market, they always seem to arrive late as other clubs jigsaws fall into place.
