Venky’s & Waggott Out Protest Ideas
DuffsLeftPeg replied to DuffsLeftPeg's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
*Update* Inbox me if you would like to join any protest tonight. This will not take place pre-game as I don’t want any resultant negativity to affect the game. I will gauge the atmosphere & feeling during the game, if things do go pear shaped during the match it’ll be a good time to bring it out and definitely at full time, regardless of result. After the statement released by the club over the weekend it is good the club are communicating with fans and I have also had sight of an email sent by SWAG by a fan regarding this issue. However, the statement did not provide any further clarity on what we already know, I thought it was pretty pathetic in all honesty and I believe Steve Waggott is hiding behind mis-information and hoping things don’t escalate. But the facts are clear to see as far as Venky’s are concerned. The damage they’ve done and continue to do to our club is unforgivable and it’s time to ramp up the pressure on all involved. -

Hello all, I’ve started this thread to discuss protest ideas so those in support can start taking positive action against the current state of the club and owners Venky’s & CEO Steve Waggott. Their short sighted and non-sensical business decisions are slowly killing BRFC from the inside out and it cannot be allowed to go on. As fans we’re the only ones with the best interests of Blackburn Rovers Football Club at heart 💙🤍🌹 Aims of the Protest Movement 1. The ultimate aim is for Venky’s to sell the club to new owners who are present, communicate with the fans and have the best interests of the club & fans at heart AND the community it is part of. 2. The initial aim is to voice the growing frustration of the fan base & for the current CEO Steve Waggott to start communicating with us and to be open & transparent about the ongoing financial issues and resultant inability to recruit the quality & number of players we need to progress as a club. 3. If there is no response from the club to the initial aims, the protest will enter its next stage, ideas below: Ideas Further ideas would be welcomed on how to take this forward. There were the first rumblings in the Blackburn End v Huddersfield with the “Venky’s Out” chant but we need more co-ordinated action for the owners & CEO to really sit up and listen. They’ve had a far too easy ride up until now. Some ideas I’ve had already: 1. Protest with banners/sign reveal and singing on 18 & 75 minutes during a league game. This could be as simple as downloading the below image onto your phone or iPad & holding it up as well as home made banners, signs and the like for those who want to. 2. A Reading style pitch invasion and sit down protest during a game. This would be a last resort currently. 3. Printing of t-shirts and a full on march style protest ending up at the Jack Walker statue before a League home game Any further and even more innovative ideas would be welcomed…. Venky’s & Waggott…were comin’ for you!

Agree entirely. It may start small but it will grow and what’s going on needs highlighting - it’s only the fans who can do that. We can’t rely on Chris Sutton or the LET to do that for us. It starts and ends with the fans…as it should in any well run football club with owners that understand, care and connect with the community it is part of.

Agreed. This was the same doom mongering we had under Tony Slowbray and we got JDT - a young, ambitious, progressive coach who sticks to his principles and plays football in the modern way. If he was backed properly we’d be challenging for promotion. So let’s stop arguing and talking and DO something about it! Positive action is the only way forward now. Venkys & SWAG OUT!

I’d be happy to get some t-shirts on order and sell at cost to whoever wants to buy My thinking is this: 1) I’ll print out the logo this weekend and can hand out to people at the ground for Huddersfield game and attempt some Venkys Out chants to test the waters in the Blackburn End 2) Wrexham game - Banners, stickers, t-shirts outside the ground near the entrance to the Blackburn End on Kidder Street prior to the game - 6.30pm start 3) Peaceful protest inside the ground with banners & t shirts on, sitting as close as possible to the dugouts in either side of the JW Lower. 7.30pm - 7.45pm so all the players and management can see when they enter the field of play and line up for the fair play handshake. 4) Media outlets to be contacted in advance to drum up attention and a level of support 5) If the club don’t acknowledge the protest & statements made then it moves to the next stage at the QPR Home Game following on the 3rd Feb, with a pitch invasion and sit down protest during the game

Agreed the conditions are entirely different from the first time around 1) We were in the Premier League, not 18th in the Championship with the worst goals conceded record in the league 2) Venky’s had a lot of the fan base fooled (me included!) with blind optimism 3) We hadn’t recently loaned out our club captain to a team riding high for promotion to cut costs & got rid of the best GK in the league for a paltry price, swapped for a Pear & a Flapper! My banner is made & en route. Who’s with me for the Wrexham game?

It won’t happen. And even if it did then it would counterproductive as our fans would be marked down as disloyal. So those that care and are passionate enough, attend & protest at the game - peacefully at this stage from the stands and if there is no acknowledgement from the club then it escalates at the next match, and so on. It’s clear to me now that there is only one way our club is going under the stewardship of Venkys & CEO Steve Waggot. Either we take action now or we stand feebly by and watch the club we all love crumble before our eyes. Positive action is always better IMO

Forget all this rubbish above from a Supporters Group I’ve never heard of. They don’t speak for me or the majority of the fan base. It’s time to protest and the Wrexham game; high profile given the opponents who incidentally have amazing owners who care about the club and the community it is part of; and also is on TV - all be it BBC Wales. Who knows, even Disney+ might be filming! Who’s with me and what’s the plan?

Poor journalism as Travis started the match against Watford on the 23rd December, all be it at left back. -

I would go: Flapper Brittain Hill Pickering Batty Trav MegaTron Wharton Dolan Szmodics Siggy Extra protection of Trav for the back 4, Wharton further forward to play some killer passes through the middle and through the channels. -

Surely Patrick Gamble is worth a punt in defence?
