  1. I'll admit I didn't know much about Hyam but the more I read about him (mostly from Coventry fans) the more I think he could be a very shrewd signing. Someone who maybe doesn't always grab the headlines but is already a solid defender with still a bit of time to develop even further (a bit like Scott Wharton). I'll sit on the fence re Caulker. Good to have another experienced CB in the squad and hopefully we can use the money we are saving to get some real quality further up the pitch!
  2. Checked her account this morning to see if there had been any further updates and I note the original tweet has now been deleted. 🤷‍♂️
  3. Blackpool Hull Cardiff QPR Wigan Luton Stoke Swansea Reading All beaten tonight by lower league opposition 😲
  4. Absolutely nothing wrong with a bit of healthy competition. Players will have to raise their game in training and in matches if they want to play. Should all benefit the team in the long run!
  5. FFS, logged on and saw all the new posts and thought we were making moves but, alas, bugger all happening!
  6. Amazing recall @glen9mullan and a fascinating insight 👏
  7. Not sure we should be reading too much into this but here's all the pages (with Brittain included). 4 "gaps" in the squad although I still reckon a few of those included will go (loaned or sold).
  8. Managed to watch this (without sound) on 'Dee TV' and thought it was a useful run out for what was, admittedly, a very young reserve team. Just a couple of observations though... 1. Adam Wharton looks a class act and still only 18. 2. Dundee has an unusually high seagull population!
  9. Totally agree but in order to make decisions quickly and effectively you need to have good quality information to inform those decisions. It seems that (if they are ripping up Park's list and starting from scratch) then the info, and therefore the processes they use to gather the info, are not up to GB/JDT's standards. That in itself gives me cause for a bit of optimism that standards will hopefully be raised.
  10. The lack of transfers (or even rumours) is certainly frustrating but I think we have to remain patient. It's going to take a bit of time for GB to put his stamp on the recruitment side. Ideally we should be identifying targets/making moves earlier but embedding the sort of processes required to do this well will take time. It's going to take 2 or 3 windows for JDT to assemble the squad he wants so I think panic buying at this stage (just to get bodies in) would be foolish, especially when funds are limited. I see this coming season as a transition so I'm happy if we make a couple of buys in key areas and then use younger lads and loans to fill out the rest of the squad.
  11. Clutching at straws maybe but BMG have also been linked with Kompany. Here's hoping he goes there instead of the Dingles and Farke comes to Rovers. If Carlsberg did...
  12. I think every team in this league (bar maybe Fulham) are going to have a bad run of form/results. Hopefully this is ours. I agree our run in looks good on paper so hopefully we pick up as many points as possible in this next batch of tough games (draws would be excellent) and then get another good run going in time for the playoffs. I reckon we'll finish 4th.
  13. That's a strong starting 11. The bench may be a bit light but hopefully we have enough for the 3 points. With Bournemouth and QPR playing in the Cup this weekend it's a good opportunity to open up a bit of a gap (albeit they'll have games in hand).
  14. The club have become very good at keeping any potential transfers under wraps until the deals are all but done. Makes me think this 'overseas' player will be someone we haven't previously been linked with (and possibly never heard of).
  15. Potential banana skin avoided but those last 10/15mins were seriously squeaky bum time! Must say, Lenihan was outstanding with notable mentions for Pickering, Wharton and Bucko. Still a long way to go but if we can continue to grind out results when we aren't necessarily at our best then I think we have a chance. Christ, I think I'm actually starting to believe!!!!
  16. Totally agree with this. There are no weak links in this current system/line up and everyone is working hard for each other . Long may it last!
  17. I've read the majority of this thread and don't think I've ever seen his name pop up but would love to see us go in for Ali McCann at St Johnstone. I've seen him play a few times and he's always impressed. Lots of energy and still only 21. Plenty of interest from Old Firm. He's under contract so would cost 2-3m but wages shouldn't be an issue
