Paul Gallagher playing centre midfield? Tugay and Savge are our midfield at the moment. Mokoena is the one who covers for them. Bentley plays on the right wing and has shown that he isn't yet up to playing in the middle. So Mokoena is the only other recognised centre midfielder that we have, that's far from alright. As for Dunn resigning, I don't why we would deserve that.

I'm not sure if he played for PSG, when they play Derry City in the Uefa Cup. My gut feeling is that he did, I think it was the last time he played for PSG. I wouldn't let this get in the way to be honest, Tugay could play in the Uefa Cup games and Dhorasso in the Premiership. He would bring real creativity to the team and even though he isn't a long term option, having him for a year or two could be a good deal for both parties.

That is a huge blow for Rovers. He was easily one of our best players last season and he was really starting to show what he was able to do in the league. We will definately need to bring a midfielder in now, Tugay can't play every game. We'll have to look for players who are out of contract, so we can bring them in now and not January. I've mentioned Vikash Dhorasso in another thread, who was sacked by PSG, he could be bought in now.

[Archived] Liverpool 1 - 1 Rovers

I would have taken a draw before the game, but with the chance that we had at the end, it's hard not to be greedy! I was sick to see Bellamy scored! How did he react? Well played boys. -

McCarthy is really banging them in at the moment. Lets hold on for the next 70 minutes! -

I'd take a 1-1 draw in this one. Hopefully Bellamy doesn't score. -
Exactly.

'England, as so often before, talked a far better game than they actually played.' Therein lies the problem. Too much talk, too much hype and always seeming to forget that England are no where near as good as they think they are or should be.

Or Rangers!

If Neill were to go to Barca, he'd have to get past Puyol, Marquez, Olegeur, Zambrotta, Silvinho, Belleti, Thuram, Van Bronckhorst and maybe even Edmilson - good luck to him! An exchange for any of those players, with Silvinho being the most realistic would be a good deal.
-
Despite Neill's comments, for the good of the team, he will stay in the starting 11 and will probably remain as captain. He is a better option than Gray and we have been playing well lately, winning four games in a row, so why change things? But as other people have said, he could be a little bit more diplomatic about wanting to move. I can understand him wanting to go to Liverpool, they will challenge for the top four every year, but they are still behind Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United IMO. And if he goes there, he'll spend most of the time on the bench, because Steve Finnan has the right back role sewn up and he isn't going to play in the centre or at left back, because Liverpool have better options. So let him go, enjoy his time on the bench and see that 'playing' for 'bigger' teams isn't all it's cracked up to be. As for the idea of going to Newcastle, that would annoy me. The idea of players wanting to go to them in an effort to further their careers and win things is laughable. Yeah they have a huge stadium and fans that fill it, but that's the only positive thing about the club.

[Archived] Tugay - Who Next?
RoyRover replied to RovertheHill's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
One creative player that I can think of that could be a good signing would be Vikash Dhorasoo. The guy has fallen out with PSG and would be a possibility as a creative player in our midfield. He wouldn't be the long term replacement for Tugay, as he is around 32, but he's a player that I've always liked. -
It's a tough enough draw that we have, Wisla Krakow and Feyenord away will be extremely hard games. The games against Nancy and Basle will also be difficult. The only game that I'd say that I would have definately wanted it home would be the Feyenord one, but they are struggling at the moment. Nancy just put Schalke out and Basle have shown how well they can perform in Europe over the last couple of seasons. I'm confident that we can be one of the three teams to qualify from the group.

That was a great result today! I'm delighted that we won, especially with Brown saving a penalty. What happened to Friedal? Benni is really starting to find his form and he's on a good scoring run. I'm still puzzled by Jeffers inclusion in the team, with Gallagher on the bench. But anyway, we won and that's the main thing.
-
Why is Jeffers playing? He's useless, give Galley a run, at least he's scored this season. We shouldn't be losing to Wigan!
-
I'm confident that we can win this one. We have won three in a row and are playing better in each game. 3-1 to Rovers, Nonda, McCarthy and Pedersen for us, Camara for them.
-
Barry Ferguson's performance since returning to Rangers have been nearly as bad as that of the team . We certainly did do very well in getting £4 million for him. As for the whole supporting two team debate, I don't see the problem. I would be a huge Celtic fan, born and raised to be so. Rovers were the team I choose to support and I would have a greater interest in them. When it came to the Uefa Cup tie a few years ago I was 100% behind Rovers and was devastated when we lost.

Thanks for that, both goals were brilliant. A bit more of that from either player would be great. I was able to see the goals in Salzburg as well which was nice. -

That was a great result tonight, I'm so happy. McCarthy is starting to find his scoring touch which is good news. Hopefully we will be able to get some decent teams in the group stages now, like Ajax and Rangers. -
[Archived] Shabani Nonda Signs
RoyRover replied to FourLaneBlue's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I was definately happy when he signed for us, because I knew what he was capable of if he were able to stay fit. I know that he has only scored one goal for us and I'll wait a while before I say that it's another great signing by Hughes, but he has made a good impression so far. I look forward to seeing what he can do, once he is fully fit and got a better understanding with McCarthy. As somone has already pointed out, he gives us the physical presence and nuisance value of Kuqi and Dickov, but is able to add some class to the precedings. -

That's good news about Zickler, he's a good player. Weren't we interested in him a couple of seasons ago? I think we'll win this one 2-0, Nonda and McCarthy to score. -

I'm delighted with this win, it was important to get our first away win and keep a clean sheet. It was good that Nonda scored as well, this could give him more confidence to get back to where he once was. With Celtic beating Rangers and Europe winning in the Ryder Cup, it's been a good day all round. Now all it takes is for Notre Dame Fighting Irish to win today for it to be a clean sweep. -

I don't know if we should have let Flowers go, but we should have held onto Shay, without doubt. He is IMO the best goalkeeper in the Premiership, apart from maybe Cech. -

God there are so many to mention, but the likes of Grabbi, Ward, Davies and Blake are up there with the worst.
