  1. God, I really dislike Birmingham and Steve Bruce and I would love it if we could beat them. It's important that we get a win after the weekends result. We have been playing well and Birmingham haven't, so I expect us to win. I was sad when we sold David Dunn, because I thought that he was a great player, but he just had to stop eating the pies. I hope that he doesn't get too hostile a reception, because he will undoubtly answer it with a goal. 2-0 to Rovers, Pedersen and Kuqi with the goals.
  2. The fact that Newcastle lost again yesterday, only piles the pressure on Souness. I can easily see him being the first manager to get the sack. We hear him go on about how the team should be judged when everyone is fit-bu**ocks. Freddy Shephard or the fans sren't going to accept a team that is continually losing because big players are out. Even without them, Newcastle can put together a decent side, but they are still crap. To be honest, I don't see them improving dramatically even when the likes of Emre and Luque are back.
  3. I was very disappointed with the result yesterday, because I really thought that it was a game that Rovers could have got a result from. I haven't seen any highlights, but apparently Zurab's sending off was very unfair and Hughes believed that we could have comfortably won that game, if we had 11 men on the pitch.
  4. A couple of weeks ago, I wouldn't have been very confident about going to Anfield and getting a result. However, after beating United at Old Trafford, there is no reason why can't get a positive result at Anfield. The two wins in a row will have given the team a lot of confidence. Liverpool aren't playing well at the moment, they got stuffed against Chelsea and will be without Gerrard for the game. I think we have a good chance of winning, but no doubt Crouch will score his first goal against Rovers, because it always happens. A win of any sort would be great, but I wouldn't be too bothered about a draw. Hughes to play 4-4-2 or 4-5-1?
  5. Like Eriksson is going to turn England into a world super power for the World Cup. Apparently some bookies have England down as third favourites to win the WC. They must be made.
  6. I was thinking of him, but couldn't remember his name. I saw him play a couple of times for Benfica last season and he always seemed to score important or late goals.
  7. Ireland are guaranteed a playoff place at least, if they beat Switzerland. If France lose or draw to Cyprus, and Ireland win, then we will top the group. Ireland played so badly yesterday, but at least we won. We, like England, should be playing a lot better than we are and could find ourselves stumbling into the World Cup. There are so many other teams that I would like to qualify, just so there is a different line-up of teams and class players, who play for weaker nations and get the chance to experience the World Cup. I'd like Serbia and Montinegro and Bosnia And Herzogovina qualify, because I think that the likes of Kezman, Stankovic, Salihamidzic and Barbarez are brilliant players and deserve to play at the highest level. They are both playing eachother on Wedneday night and if Serbia win, then they go through. But if Bosnia win, they will probably go into the playoffs, because Spain are playing San Marino and they will win that game and would then top the group. It will be one heck of a game, when you consider what has gone on between the two countries over the last 10 years. Elsewhere, I hope that Romania get to the playoffs, because I think that Christian Chivu and Mutu are brilliant players. I'd like somone like Uzbekistan to get to the playoffs, with a CONCAF team, because Dynamo Kiev's Maxim Shatskik is quality. It was great to see four new teams from Africa qualifing. Angola, qualified ahead of Nigeria, Togo ahead of Senegal, Ghana ahead of South Africa and Ivory Coast ahead of Cameroon. Again, these nations have some brilliant players, who will get the chance to play infront of the world. Togo have Emmanuel Adebayor who plays for Monaco, Ghana have Michael Essien and Stephen Appiah, while Ivory Coast have the likes of Drogba, Toure and Kalou. These sort of teams and the likes of Bosnia have just as much right to play at the World Cup as any of the big nations and I'm sure that their star players, who have had such little success with their countries, will never have a prouder moment in their careers, than when they represent their country at the World Cup. I think that Andrey Shevchenko put his finger on it when he said that his career wouldn't be much to talk about, if he didn't have success with his country and success for him meant qualifing for the World Cup.
  8. I don't know what everyone is so worried about. Sven says it'll be okay. Cloud cuckoo land?
  9. That was a great win yesterday and to get two wins in a row, will certainly give the players confidence. Kuqi took his goals very well and hopefully now he can get a few more, but up until yesterday he has been terrible in front of goal. Hopefully Bellamy's injury isn't anything too serious and with the international break coming up, he will have time to recover. Who's up next for Rovers?
  10. Gray played very well on Saturday and deserves a run in the team because of it. He has gone through a rough patch at Rovers, and even though I wanted to get rid of him, that was because he didn't seem to be in the managers plans, so there was no need to keep him. However, he may well have turned his career around at Rovers and fair play to him.
  11. If we don't beat WBA on Saturday, then the result against Man United won't be worth as much. There's no doubt that Hughes will go with a 4-4-2 and hopefully the fans will have something to cheer about, with attacking football and plenty of Rovers goals. I'm going for a 3-0 win, with Bellamy, Pedersen and Reid getting the goals.
  12. A brilliant result today and hopefully one that can turn our season around. I didn't expect this result at all and it shows what can be done when we play a more attacking formation. It's great to beat United at Old Trafford, especially when we play well. Gray was supposed to have played a blinder today and fair play to him, because he has been out in the cold for a while and today he has taken his chance. I'm a very happy man tonight.
  13. If we get a point, I'll be happy enough. I'm not optimistic though.
  14. It was good to get a win, for Bellamy to get his first goals for Rovers and for us to progress to the next round. I would have liked to have seen Johnson given a run up front, because we all know what Dickov can or more to the point, can't do. Enckleman could have done with a run out as well. Hopefully this will give the team a bit of confidence, although it will be a different matter against Man United.
  15. This is game that Rovers must win and win well. There is no chance that Hughes will play a 4-4-2, so we may get to see some entertaining football for a change. Ill be interested to see how many are at the game tonight.
  16. Yesterday was a prime example of why the attendances have been falling. The first half was a miserable affair, with no quality from the home team at all, partly because the manager played a defensive formation against a crap team. The second half brightened up, but Rovers inability to score is another reason why people have stopped coming. IMO these are the two reasons why people have stopped coming, because it is boring to watch due to the lack of investment in quality, so why waste your money? This in turn has lead to Rovers not being able to open teams up and score consistently and win, so why would you want to go and see a losing team? We the fans know what the problem is, while the club either don't have a clue or don't believe it and are looking in the wrong place, if they are looking at all.
  17. He's the right man for the job, but he needs to sort his tactics out, especially at home.
  18. To say that I'm angry would be putting it lightly. I wouldn't have believed it if we hadn't have won, but to lose to such a pathetic side beggers belief. There is no way in the world that Hughes should have played a 4-5-1 against a struggling side at home. If the likes of Dyer, Luque and Emre had all been playing, then it may have made a bit more sense. The service and support to Bellamy was cack. There's no doubt that we created enough chances to win a couple of games, but it is very disturbing to think that we didn't take any of them. I wanted to win this game so badly, just to shove it up Souness. I thought that the defence looked solid enough, but then again it was up against a disfunctional attack, which still managed three goals against us! Yet again Blackburn are the team that a player scores his first goal of season against (Shearer & Owen), a player scores his first goal for his new club against (Owen & Baros) and a team get their first win of the season against. But then again, what do you expect when you don't invest in quality players, to improve the team. This could be another long season.
  19. It was great to see Gallagher scoring again last night. That is why he went out on loan, to play regular football, in a competitive league and score goals. This will improve his game and when he comes back from his loan spell, he could be ready to play regularly for the first team.
  20. The game is on Sky tomorrow right? I take it that it's on pay-per-view?
  21. I want us to win this game so badly, just to bring Souness' date with the sack that bit closer. At the same time however, this could be another game of 'firsts', which always happen against Blackburn. This is because Blackburn are usually the team that another team get their first win against and a new player (Owen) gets his first goal for his new club. I don't want either of these things happening. I also want Craig Bellamy to sicken Souness with a match winning performance. I hope that Hughes goes with a 4-4-2 formation, with Pedersen, Reid, Savage and Bentley in midfield and Jansen and Bellamy up front. 3-1 to Rovers, with Bellamy, Jansen and Bentley scoring. Owen to get his first goal for the club.
  22. Savage played well against Bolton. If he just stuck to playing football and didn't go around winding people up and saying daft things, I'd be happy.
  23. Even though Matt didn't have the best game against Bolton (mainly because of the formation and the service), what made me happy was the fact that Hughes left Kuqi and Dickov on the bench. Hughes knew that this was going to be a tough, physical game and could have easily started Kuqi, but he went with Jansen instead. So Matt must be impressing him in training to start him and to say that he will get a run in the team. A couple of years ago he was one of the best strikers in the Premiership. He has gone backwards since the accident, but Hughes must see him improving to play him. The best thing for him will to be playing regularly in the team and have scored some goals by the end of the season.
  24. What dire a game of football. I gave up watching the first half and concentrated on the All Ireland Hurling final between Cork and Galway, which was 10 times as exciting and which Cork won again. The second half was marginally better, but Rovers scraped and deserved a point. Bentley looked quite promising when he came on and Zurab had a solid debut. I felt sorry for Jansen. He was having long balls pumped up to him, with no support. I'm sure that he must be improving, because Hughes wouldn't play him otherwise. But we would have seen more of him had another striker played. I hope that this 4-5-1 formation won't be the norm for the season, because it is crap! It is probably a major factor in the falling attendances. Hopefully we can see two up front against Newcastle, with Bellamy ripping them to shreads and sticking it to Souness.
  25. What has happened in New Orleans and the other southern states is such tragedy, but what upsets me more, like a lot of people have said, was the lack of movement from the Whitehouse. Bush's decision to go to a party fundraiser in San Diego I believe, beggers belief. But as so many political reporters have pointed out and it is plan for the whole world to see, the majority of those who suffered the most, were poor black people, who didn't have the money or cars to pay or drive away from the area. I'm glad to see people in the public eye, like Kanye West speaking out about Bush's total indifference to the black people of the south. This really sums up Bush.
