  1. Reid certainly deserves his place in the side and I'd play him in the centre of midfield. Yesterday we saw how he was able to get all over the pitch from his position, while on the right wing, he is quite restricted in where he can go. I'd like to see him and Savage paired together for the Leicester game. If Emerton is to stay in the team, then he will have to improve his performances. Personally, I think that he is a good player, but he isn't consistent enough. Thompson played very well on the right yesterday and will have put himself in the frame for a starting position on Sunday. I do think that we are lucky to have two players like Thompson and Emerton going for the same position.
  2. 4-5-1 is a crap formation if none of the 5 support the 1. Today, we saw that it can work when other players join the attack. It isn't the type of formation that I'd want to us to use on a regular basis. However, maybe for the next 3 league games, it will be the one which will bring us the most points. I'd like to see us play a 4-4-2 against Leicester though, with Stead and another striker.
  3. I've always said that he should play in the centre of the midfield and when he does, we can see what a good player he is. I don't think that his crossing is that bad. He some good balls into the box today. I hope that Hughes plays the midfield you have pointed out against Leicester as well. If Savage is injured we have Mokoena who can come in and who I think is very good defensive midfielder.
  4. What a result! I'm delighted for Jon Stead, who has had a difficult season. It was an excellent finish, which reminded me of some the goals he scored last season. Our defence was awesome again today. But the MOTM for me, was Steven Reid. That along with his performance against Birmingham, was probably his best game for Rovers. He was everywhere today, tackling, passing, breaking forward and his pass for Stead was brilliant. Emerton may well find himself on the bench for awhile, with the way that both Reid and Thompson played. That 3 points gives us some much need breathing room, with Southampton and WBA both winning and Crystal Palace drawing. We were by far the better side and deserved to win. When you look at our next 3 fixtures, it shows what a big result this was.
  5. Our team looks like it will be depleted for Sunday, with Dickov, Savage and Emerton struggling. While Bothroyd is definately out. At least Todd is back for this one. I can see us lining up with: Friedal Neill Todd Nelsen Johansson Reid Flitcroft Tugay Pedersen Stead Gallagher Subs:Enckleman, Mokoena, Thompson, Johnson, Jansen
  6. A class player, who along with the likes of Todd and Johansson have sured up our defence. He definately has to be one of the best bargain buys, to go with the likes of George Boateng going to Coventry. Hughes looks like he has the noise for a good player, with Mokoena looking like a good signing as well. His performances have been remarkable, considering that he was playing in the MLS.
  7. Everton have been playing well all season, especially at home and it will be very difficult for us to get a result at Goodison Park. Even though we beat Burnley last night and Norwich in our last game, we are still very average up front and I don't see this changing before Sunday. As such, we have to take any chances that come our way, while remaining strong at the back. Everton beat Villa 3-1 last time out, so they will be full of confidence. Another 0-0 wouldn't be the worst result in the world.
  8. What a great result, on what seemed a pretty miserable night. We can now look forward to a home tie against Leicester and the real possibility of getting into an FA Cup semi final. I've only seen the first two goals, Tugay's was a good strike, which took a deflection and Burnley's goal to be fair was a screamer. Pedersen really is starting to perform for Rovers and looks like the solution to our left sided problem. I was about dubious when he first arrived, as he obviously wasn't up to it. But fair play to both Pedersen and Hughes. They have obviously worked hard to get Pedersen to where he is now and the work is paying off. Shove it up you Burnley! Time to get back to your caves.
  9. They are two of my favourite bands. Your a lucky git, being able to see both of them at the same venue, even if The Music didn't perform that well.
  10. I'd say that Tugay or Savage would captain the side tomorrow. As for the game, Rovers have to win this one. Even though they should only be concentrating on this game, the chance of playing Leicester at home in the next round, would give us a real chance to get to the FA Cup semi final. I'm wondering who will replace Todd in defence for the game? I'd go for Mokoena or Short. If Dickov is fit for the game, then I'd go with Jansen and Stead/Bothroyd up front, with Johnson and Gallagher on the bench. I'd even consider starting Reid over Emerton, who just hasn't been playing well lately. We are a far superior side to Burnley and we have to show this tomorrow. We can't be complacent or we might get turned over. But I fully expect us to win, by more than one goal.
  11. In no particular order: Andy Goram Roy Keane Alex Ferguson El Hadji Diouf Fernando Ricksen
  12. I think that Rovers did alright against Burnley, considering the fact that we haven't been playing that well this season and the state the pitch was in. Look at how United performed at home to Exeter, Arsenal played against Sheffield United and Charlton did against Leicester. Hughes has made us harder to beat, especially at home, which wasn't the case awhile ago. We can be confident heading into the replay, but the players must only be looking at the game in hand and not the Leicester game, which would give them a real chance to get to the semi-finals. In some ways you could say that, the draw we have been given, could make the players even more determined to beat Burnley next Wednesday.
  13. Provided that we beat Burnley, a home tie against Leicester is probably the best draw that we could have gotten. We now have a real chance to get to the semi-final of the FA Cup, somewhere that we haven't been in years.
  14. I thought tha Neill had a good game today and did well on Valois, who was good player. I didn't think that Gallagher had that bad a game either, he just didn't set the place alight. I thought that Dickov and Stead/Bothroyd would be our best combination for the replay, but if Dickov isn't fit, then I'd go for Stead and Bothroyd. Also, Chelsea have been put out, which means that there is one less big team in the competition. If we were to get a home draw against someone like Leicester or Southampton/Brentford and we beat Burnley, in the replay, then we have a great chance to get to the semi-final.
  15. This match didn't really live up to the hype. A draw ws a fair result. Neither side created that much, although Rovers did have the better of the chances. Dickov going off was a big blow and Johnson didn't really do much when he came on. I'd go for Dickov and Bothroyd/Stead up front in the replay. Bringing the match back to Ewood is a good thing. We get to play Burnley for a second time in the season, we can have full house and hopefully the game will be shown on TV. Pedersen and Savage were the best players for Rovers, while the defence looked solid again. That Burnley fan who came on at the end, is even more stupid than I thought a person from Burnley could be. His team were ontop going into the last couple of minutes, and he comes on, slows the game down and then assaults a police officer. Nice one! I'm lookin forward to the replay already. Any idea when it will be?
  16. A decent first half by Rovers. It isn't the derby match that we were all expecting. We have been fairly comfortable, we have created afew chances, but not nearly enough. Pedersen is playing well, Emerton has had some good runs and Savage is running the midfield. Pedersen and Emerton should stay our their wings and stop changing, because it doesn't work. I'd be inclined to bring Reid on, if things stay the same.
  17. Blackburn Team: Friedal Neill, Todd, Nelsen Johansson Emerton, Tugay, Savage, Pedersen Dickov, Gallagher
  18. I'm up bright and early, getting ready for the big game. In fact I'm planning to go to 12 o'clock Mass, to have a word with the Big Man, to make sure that he is on our side today. God, I wish I were going to this one. The commentators of the United v Everton match last night were getting really excited with the prospect of this game and what a real derby and FA Cup match this is going to be. I really hope that it lives up to its potential. Enjoy yourselves and make one hell of a noise!
  19. Burnley have done well this season, considering their small squad, crap players and financial troubles. Rovers can't go into this game, being over confident or they will be caught out, which isn't worth thinking about. Today has seen Leicester beating Charlton and Brentford coming from two goals down to draw with Southampton. This should provide the team with enough incentive to go into this game, with the right frame of mind. I still think that we will win, but we can't take anything for granted.
  20. The other book is "Road To McCarthy." I finished it a couple of weeks ago and it is a brilliant book. I haven't read "McCarthy's Bar", but I have it in the house. I'd also recommend John Grisham's short novel "Bleachers." It's a nice little read, that gets away from the law and concentrates on American Football. Grisham's "King Of Torts" is also very good.
  21. I'm a big Celtic fan and I support the Republic Of Ireland. But I'd also look out for the results of; Rennes (I have a house close to it and have been to some games) Ajax (been to the stadium) Fiorentina (Batistuta and Rui Costa played for them)
  22. I can't wait to see this game on Sunday. It is game that Rovers can't think about losing and beating Burnley at Turf Moor will make the victory all the sweeter. There's no doubt that Burnley will be up for it and after taking the scalp of Liverpool, they will fancy their chances. Our players have to be up for it as well and be prepared to battle, which we all know they can. Burnley have sold their two best players, so that will weaken them and we have to take advantage of this. However, we must realise that this is not only a chance to beat Burnley, but for us to get to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, which we haven't been to in years. I'm going for 3-1 victory for Rovers!
  23. I have the CD and DVD. It is really good.
  24. Out-of-favour Blackburn Rovers defender Lorenzo Amoruso says he would love to return to Rangers. That's the first thing that I've agreed with, since Amoruso signed for us. A truly shocking defender and really makes you wonder how on earth Souness thought that he would make us better. Hughes has rightly left him out of the side, now that we have Todd, Nelsen, Johansson and Mokoena all playing well, Amoruso has no chance of getting into the side. Another example of a crap signing by Rovers.
