I've been listening to some of The Killers stuff, which is such a change from the bland nonsense being pumped out at the moment. The Stereophonics new song is surprisingly brilliant.

I watched the highlights on Football First, and we certainly rode our luck in the first half, but we were much better defensively in the second half when Neill was introduced. I think that Mokoena has been quite an estute signing by Hughes, but he wasn't quite with it yesterday, probably suffering from jet-lag. Nelsen is looking like a real bargain and I would certainly stick with him and Todd for the next match. That's the best I've seen Pedersen play for Rovers, he was involved in everything, scoring a great goal and setting up Dickov for the second. He has to perform like this on a more regular basis, if he is to be a big player for us. I thought that Tugay and Savage, were excellent and should be our new midfield pairing. Savage has the tackling and defensive abilities, while Tugay has the creative touch that we need, if we are to open teams up. He also seemed more willing to shoot yesterday, which is a good thing. Emerton didn't have the best of games and I'd be inclined to start with Reid in the next game, who is looking more like a Premiership player every time he plays. If, he had had a better touch yesterday, he would have scored. He also had a great effort saved by Green. Reid seems to give us more of a goal threat, granted that he has only scored one. But he gets into the right positions and sooner or later, he's going to let one go, which will scream in. It was also good to see us creating plenty of chances, even though it was a against a poor team. This will give us plenty of confidence going into the big game next week.

The game is on BBC, next Sunday at 1.30 pm. Thank God for that!

A great win, that eases our relegation fears somewhat. The fact that we scored three goals can only do the teams confidence the world of good and sets us up nicely for next weeks show down. I was glad to see Johansson starting at left back, hopefully Hughes will stick with him there, because he has done more to deserve a place in the team than Dominic Matteo. It's good to hear that Pedersen had a good game, because recently he has seemed pretty poor. I would like to see Reid start more often and if Emerton isn't performing, then Reid is definately good enough now. Role on next week! Is it on TV?

Sorry if this has been asked, but does anyone know if the Blackburn FA Cup game is to be shown on TV? It definately deserves to be.

He doesn't seem to have the ability to get past his man and cross. This is a pretty fundamental part of the game, if you are a winger. I'd go back to having Reid and Emerton on the wings for a while. We looked alot better. -
If we don't win this one, then we are certainly back in the relegation battle. Anything less than 3 points will be very disappointing. As an attacking force, we have not been playing well all season, but recently we have been extremely poor and we must rectify this, in order to ease our relegation worries. Hughes mus go with two strikers tomorrow. Rovers to win 2-0.

I agree with you. Even though Pedersen is playing better and has scored some goals, I still don't think that he does enough going forward. He never takes his man on, doesn't get enough crosses in and comes inside alot, but never goes to shoot with his right foot. When he does have the ball, he hardly ever gives it away and he is good the in the air. But he seems to vanish for long periods of the match. I thought that we looked alot more dangerous when Reid was on the right and Emerton was on the left. Maybe Hughes should go back to this? -

After yesterday's performance I think that Hughes should make a couple of changes to the side. Firstly, stop playing Dominic Matteo and bring Johansson back into the team, because he was playing so well a couple of weeks ago and playing him at left back would be a huge improvement. I think that Thompson should be dropped and bring in Tugay or Steven Reid, who will bought bring something different to the team and this could be the change that we need. We also need to play two upfront, if we are to stand any chance of scoring goals. -

Another disappointing result. The idea of the playing Dickov upfront by himself doesn't work, because our wingers, or men from midfield are playing close enough to him, to support him. Hughes has to go back to a 4-4-2, if we are to win some games. Our attacking options coming off the bench, weren't able to help the cause and Hughes needs to address this. I hope the club realise what a big mistake they have made in not buying a striker. Our attack is crap. -

No Stead, Bothroyd or Gallagher again. This is a winnable game, especially as so many of Boro's first team are out. -

It was also interesting to see that Hughes didn't have Stead, Bothroyd or Gallagher on the bench. They haven't been performing and didn't deserve a place on the bench and this must have been Hughes thoughts. I do agree with this, but it did cut down other possible attacking options. -
What anger me more than Mourhino's comments, was Tony Cottee saying that Rovers definately bought the title.

I watched the game last night and I thought that we were unlucky not to get a draw. We more than matched Chelsea, limited to only two meaningful chances, one being the goal, which Brad should have saved. We got stuck into them, which we needed to, if we were to get anything from the match. But there were times, when some of the players went over the top. We had a great chance to draw level, but Cech made a brilliant save. Our defence looked solid enough, although Neill and Matteo did have their moments. I thought that Mokoena and Savage had good games in the midfield. Pedersen started well, but vanished in the second half and I'm surprised that Hughes didn't bring Johnson on. Dickov played okay, but there was one point that he could have easily played Steven Reid in for a one-on-one, but shot instead. We must have another performance like this, if we are to get anything from our next match. -
We have certainly been diddled here. Only £5 million, for a player who Williams said they wouldn't sell for anything less than £6 million, with only £4.5 million being guaranteed! I just don't understand why they buckled at the last minute. It wasn't like we were able to sign a replacement, once he left, because there wasn't enough time. Smart move. This is so similar to sales of Duff and Dunn and Blackburn's inability to hold onto its best players doesn't inspire the fans about the ambitions of the club. Why should we give our best players to other teams? We are going to miss him and there is no way that any of our other midfielders can replace his creative ability. What's even more embarrasing is the idea of getting Shota Averladze in return, as if he is going to solve our goal scoring problems. He doesn't start for Rangers, he hasn't been a prolific goal scorer in Scotland, so he has no chance down here. He was good when he was at Ajax, but that was a long time ago. If Blackburn were going to get one of Rngers players, then it should have been Prso. Williams should have said that if Rangers wanted one of our best players, then we wanted likewise. Also, Birmingham signed Walter Pandiani on loan until the end of the season! That's where we should have been concentrating our efforts.
-
It just had to be! I would have prefered to have been at home, because Burnley are half decent at home. However, it looks like they will be playing us without their best player. Richard Chaplow looks like he is on the way WBA. As long as or players go into this tie with the right frame of mind, then we should win. Beating Burnley, in their backyard, would make up for any disappointments this season!

Kasabian are a very good band and are a change from the blandness that is so common from the likes of The Strokes, The Datsuns, The Thrills, The Libertines and so on. However The Killers song is pretty good.
-
If we are drawn at home and don't get the likes of Arsenal, Man United, Chelsea or Newcastle then I'd be pleased enough.

I really think that we can get a draw from this game. Our defence has to perform to it's best ability and if any chances come our way we must take them. The idea of Matteo up against Robben or Duff is terrifying. -
I would love it if Bellamy signed. But where would we get the money from? Having Mark Hughes as our manager would certainly influence Bellamy's desicion.
-
Barry Ferguson definately start on Wednesday if he is fit and ready. If Rangers want him that badly they can increase their offer and wait for the summer, when we have time to find a replacement. I'd prefer us not to sell him at all.

Glad to be through to the next round, where we will hopefully draw lower league opposition, so we have more of a chance of progressing into the quarter finals. A game at Ewood against Burnley wouldn't be half bad. It might even be shown on the tv. -
