100% He was getting picked for England ahead of Matt Jansen simply because he played for Liverpool. I always thought of him as a donkey and it really used to piss me off when he scored against us. My endearing memory of him is him taking numerous fresh air shots. He may have had a lot of potential as a young player but he never came anywhere close to realising it. To mention him in the same breath as Shearer or Cole is absolutely ludicrous and incredibly disrespectful to some of the actual greats of the game.

To be fair the run of games he played last season he was good as well. He just had such a disaster against Wigan that it overshadowed the other performances.

The addition of Yorke was the downfall with Cole. It looked good on paper but in practice it was not the case. Cole and Jansen were a tremendous partnership.
