I don’t disagree, I just gave up hoping for any semblance of being like any other club a long time ago.

I get that. But what’s the alternative? We can’t not sell those players to the teams we have done being where we are. Business wise we’ve done well, people will argue that we could have gotten more for Wharton but in the grand scheme of things he was unproven at a higher level. I don’t disagree that we’ve not seen a benefit in terms of our level of reinvestment. But again, what do we expect? I’m a realist and am happy we still have what looks like in this early stage of the season a (somewhat) competitive team at this level. End of the day we’ve brought in a few; Yuki, Gueye and Wiemann who look like they’ll be decent signings. Hopefully now we’ll add to that. Gone are the days of us spending millions on players, got to accept it for now and hope for the best.

Everything in perspective. SS isn’t the world beater we all seem to think he is after last season. £10million all-in is good business for a soon to be 29 year old who’s best season by a country mile was last year. Don’t understand the melt down at all, before last year we’d have viewed him as a valuable squad player - he’s started this season in the same vein of form but against Derby and a terrible Stockport 11. Good luck and thanks SS. Who’s to say Yuki, Gueye or whoever can’t fill the void this season. We’ll be fine despite the continuous tumult above.

There is literally no point in us “cashing” in on Ben. Think about it from a personal Investment you or me might make. £10 invested… 3 years down the line you stand at £20 if you were to cash in now. Now there’s many variables at play and in 1 years time you may stand to lose that £10 in its entirety OR have a genuine chance of turning that £10 in to a 100x + investment. Think of it from a Venkys point of view. Simplistic but let’s take a step back. He is never leaving this window. Done.

You’re obsessed with either Ben getting an injury or hitting a blip in form. Just enjoy what we have whilst we have it. There’s absolutely no evidence of us hitting a blip currently. The Hull result is what it was. We’re still 2nd… bloody second in the league!! It’s beyond what anyone could have hoped for this season and I for one don’t see us finishing any lower than 3rd. Dack will be a massive boost to us. Not many have acknowledged just what a positive that will be come crunch time. We have a way of playing that suits us, players ready to put everything on the line. And a group of players that are all pushing for the same goal. We’ve added this window, we’re 100% stronger than we were at the end of December, sad what happened to Markanday but that happens football. Roll on the last few months. We’ll be up there.
