Ah well, he's at Wigan now. Time to move on, the future looks bright. -

If they won't sign, they won't sign. As it is, it's looking like a good move anyway. -
Pickering was important as anyone tonight, probably won us the game with how he kept Bowler so quiet.

They left under the new regime, they couldn't get them to sign a contract either. -
When Bowler is as ineffective as that, you know your left back has had a great game.
-
Ta, that's another option.

I'm doing same as last time I went in league 1. End of m55 and head for the airport. As you approach the airport, there's a right turn, St Anne's Road. It leads right up to the ground, and there was free parking in the side streets. We drove right up to the ground then doubled back and parked as close as poss. It's a few years back obviously, but I'm doing the same and hope it's still as it was.

Maybe, just maybe, losing out on Svdb is a handy conclusion for Rovers. Having secured the Hyam signing, which apparently came available since the deal with Liverpool was arranged, it could be that he's surplus to requirements now. If we chase another centre half I'd say we still wanted him. If not, I'd say it's a nice end to it, and keeps the peace with Liverpool. -

Brittain, Szmodics and Hyam, have replaced the Fun Boy 3. Van den Berg replaces Van Hecke on loan. Wharton and Morton to step in/up to replace Johnson and Davenport. Hopefully Brereton stays with Hirst(?) giving us options up front, replacing Khadra. We're getting to the point where the squad is ready to hopefully push on from last season. -

You could also argue that since Mowbray supposedly massively underachieved last season, after being 2nd at Christmas, that we should be coasting into the play offs at least this season. The cherry picking of "facts" in this argument is mad, I just wish people would leave it and look forward. -

Going back to the QPR game, when you're the only player trying to do something creative, and it doesn't come off, it looks like you're the only player losing the ball. He definitely gets the others playing, as he did yesterday, his absence has been overlooked. -

You can't on one hand blame the poor performance first half on Mowbray, then say that we were brilliant 2nd half due to the performances of Hedges and Wharton, 2 players here under Mowbray,it just doesn't add up. The transfer market and loan system are there to be used, there are no excuses needed, nor would Tomasson want them. That first half was down to the players and the manager, no excuses. With a few back from injury and a few new faces, we'll be looking stronger on Friday morning, hopefully. -

Three proper first team players left, the rest are just fluff. The loan players who left were always leaving, the word loan gives it away. Supposedly there's a healthy budget to recruit players and the loan market is open to the new regime, as it was last season. "it isn't a rebuild, it's a renovation",Tomasson's own words. The base is there, the recruitment side is there, the coaching side and facilities are there, including a brilliant academy, and supposedly the finances are there. Tomasson and Broughton don't have any excuses, nor would they want them. -

I agree, it seems obvious that the best chance of signing the quality we need will come in the last week. I don't know why people who don't know what is going on behind the scenes, automatically assume it's going badly. Let's judge him a week on Thursday. -

It's a long, long season, we need quality players in, not players for the sake of it. There will be quality available at the end of the window, Broughton eluded to it himself when he said he would comment after the window closes, only then can we judge him. -

Maybe keep an eye open for a Ryan Hedges clone, the last 2 performances can't just be coincidence. As for Broughton, it's a long long season , judge him a week on Monday. -

Fulham and Bournemouth were stronger than anything in the Championship this season, it's a lot more even this time around with those two gone. We're definitely capable of getting a result on Saturday, Gallagher is vital at both ends of the pitch. -

I heard an interview earlier, on radio Lancs, when he described it as "a journey". Pick the bones out of that one. -

No, that isn't what I meant. Don't tell me Reading have a deeper squad than we have. I'm sure Tomasson will be considering that to leave both out at once was probably a mistake, he is allowed to make one or two. -

Think it was more a case of poor team selection last night, rather than anything else, too many legs taken out in one go. Midweek away games in the Championship are murder, a big learning curve for Tomasson. I'm sure it will stand him in good stead. No need to panic after 9 points from 12,another win in August and Tomasson will be manager of the month. Less than 2 weeks to go in the transfer window, it's the business end,I'm sure good business will be done. -

Our first defeat in what was Tomasson's first ever midweek, away championship game. He will have learned a lot from tonight's game, there's nothing quite like the Championship. -
Burnley were wide open to the counter, they're lucky Hull were poor going forward, a slicker team would have wrapped it up.

Can't see Venkys letting Brereton go for any less than £20 million, unless advised otherwise by Broughton and Tomasson. There's still the January safety net, and I realise that foreign clubs can sign a pre contract agreement to secure a free transfer. That still doesn't guarantee that Brereton will want to go abroad, neither does it guarantee that his potential wage offer from any foreign club would be better than a Prem club in danger of relegation. 100% keep him, at least until January. -

I think a lot depends on the size of squad Tomasson wants to be left with long term, rather than worrying about the here and now. If he sees Carter as one for this season, we're unlikely to be looking for more than one defender. I've no idea what size of squad he used at Malmo, but it might give an indication of how many he may want in before the window closes.
