  1. All he had to do was play the settled 10/11 at Burnley. It imploded from the point that he made that ridiculous selection. It was all bobbing along nicely until Tomasson experimented in the one game you don't experiment. Football suicide. Get back to a settled defence with players in their proper position, rather than this vanity, and we may get some consistency going.
  2. Wanting the manager out yet wanting your team to win aren't conducive, you don't get both at once. That's the situation a lot of fans who wanted Mowbray out found themselves in, getting satisfaction from a Rovers defeat. Perversely, as you say, there seems to be a similar situation growing against Tomasson. I don't quite get the"told you so" brigade on either side of the argument. I'd happily be wrong every day of the week if it meant we'd won.
  3. Or at least start with a proper defence, I ask you, who experiments at Burnley????
  4. The back 5 should have picked itself today. Playing Brittain on the left was never going to work. It blunts his own attacking threat and Brereton's who always plays better with Pickering behind him. Throw into the mix giving Mola a start, and you've got an unbalanced, experimental defence on the one day you DON'T experiment. Can't believe he did that today.
  5. That's because you've still got your Premier league plastics who don't even know who Kevin Ball is. You'll shake em off eventually.
  6. Great win, 11 changes with 5 academy players in the starting line up and 3 on the bench. Pleased for Vale to notch, and Hirst to put his penalty away, but how must Szmodics have felt taking his?
  7. I'd be amazed if it isn't a back 3/5. It gives us another centre half at attacking set pieces as well. There may well be a "who has the longest throw" competition in training this week.
  8. I'll bet Pickering is glad it's Travis' turn this week.
  9. I watched the back end of West Ham's game in Europe in midweek. They ended up with quite a few young uns on the pitch and the commentator said they might expect to play against Rovers. If it turns out to be a glorified under 21's match, it might give us a sniff.
  10. Exactly right, and only possible because of the signing of Hyam alongside Ayala.
  11. If we're defending that cricket field end goal and Ayala gets any deeper, he might end up at fine leg.
  12. Don't really care how we won today, it just needed winning. Bring em on
  13. I know we all have our own opinion, but I don't really know how anyone could watch the match last night and not think that Gallagher might have helped the team. Brereton plays better with Pickering behind him.
  14. Poor decision the second yellow, as confirmed by the Burnley commentator,to go with the Ince debacle on Saturday. They're finding a way to win, but they're definitely vulnerable to the break. Should be intriguing.
  15. I'm not knocking Tomasson, it's been a brilliant start, but the thing with Rovers at the moment is you can tell after 20 minutes(or earlier) if they're not at it. It just wasn't going to happen from a very early stage
  16. I'm afraid, in the end, it came down to 2 poor Brittain moments. He missed a sitter and got skinned for the goal.
  17. Did make me wonder if Scott Wharton is maybe playing left back in a back 4
  18. Hopefully the break will work in Hirst's, and our favour. With the way Tomasson has patiently prepped players for the first team, I think he is being readied for the first team when the team returns. It will be a long slog after the lads return, Brereton and Gallagher can't do it all.
  19. The boot's on the other foot now, some of my best mates are Burnley fans and they would rather we weren't playing, you can't lose if you don't play. I sit there every cup draw and hope for a Derby, eventually we'll win and that timer will start ticking the other way. Although I'll be nervous as hell, I'm looking forward to it a lot more than they are.
  20. Hats off to Trav at right back, saved a certain equaliser first half when covering for Wharton. At left back we had the ever dependable Harry Pickering, proper player. Kaminski, Wharton and Hyam solid as a rock in the middle. Hyam is turning out to be a brilliant signing, and so important that Ayala can chill for a bit. Definitely a day for defensive plaudits, which started with Szmodics, Brereton and Gallagher. Vale did a good job when he came on down the right.

  22. I say it every game, there's a fag paper between most teams in the Championship, look no further than yours and our matches against Brum these past couple of weeks. So much depends on the timing of matches, it seems to matter more in this division than the others, teams blow so hot and cold. It will be an intriguing match, Burnley obviously crave the possession, I'm sure Rovers will be more than happy to oblige, being happier without the ball.
  23. Their older players may have more experience in years, but only one of them has anywhere near the knowledge of our younger players of what is at stake. I can't imagine anyone needing to tell the Wharton's what is expected. That intensity can, of course, work both ways. We can't afford many early yellows, and definitely not reds.
