My pessimistic worry is that whilst we are showing positive signs, any hope will be extinguished soon, whether it's a bungled window or our manager leaving. It makes the defeats more galling - if today isn't our day, when will it be?

One of those afternoons. We've seen them for years. We tried, we did what we could, but it isn't enough. Not sure it'll ever be our day again to be honest, I just can't see a positive future for this club sadly. Eustace deserves backing but no chance
-
Of course, I was devastated. Just not sure it was a fair assessment of the game. That being said, the last game in August was much needed to rebuild a bit of trust amongst the fanbase that we can actually fight against this lot and not completely shit the bed when the chips are down. A win is long overdue though.

Eustace presser - Cantwell and Ohashi both unlikely to feature but not fully ruled out. Awaiting Ohashi's scan results. Inclined to believe him but could also be keeping cards closed to his chest.

Not sure Burnley coasted the game, we were largely the better side but struggled to create much. Dolan took one off Hyam's head and we had a blatant penalty turned down. It wasn't a surprise, no, but we more than matched them that day. The performance at their place was nothing short of disgraceful though

Very hard to say who should and shouldn't play - the fixture list has been gruelling and a lot depends on how fit and prepared the lads are. The Dingles rested a few, a luxury we couldn't really afford. Big question marks for me - Who starts up top? Gueye is more of an impact sub for me, Leonard needs easing in but then Ohashi is knackered and potentially injured. Cantwell - is he well enough? And if he is, do you sacrifice his stardust for someone more industrious? I'd lean towards the former. Centre mid - seems almost certain it'll be Baker but JRC is an outside bet. On paper you'd think Buckley would be perfect as a local lad, but he's often far too passive. Type of player to get sent off on derby day for two petulant bookings.

Tbf whilst I like Leonard and you could say having a good chance demonstrates good positioning, I'm not really sure that missing a good chance is evidence of a good game.

He was just making a point that all teams in/around the top 6 dropped points today. Don't think he was excusing our performance or result. -

I think the fact this happens every year and ends up with us falling off a cliff and achieving next to nothing is a big part of the 'overreaction'. The depressing inevitability is another one. No two ways about it, a home game vs 23rd should be one we are winning. Agree on the rest of it - can't fault Eustace and we desperately need attacking prowess. -

Not sure the correct thread for this, but Travis out for 6 weeks and Pickering 10-12. A massive blow. Travis and Tronstad have been an amazing pairing. -

In the cold light of day. Pears did well, thought centre halves were solid. Not much going forwards. Cantwell less effective than he's been as a 10. ACD faded as game went on. Too much long ball and dragged into the type of game Millwall wanted - which is a real disappointment given we lined up quite attacking. But what transpired was a gritty battle that we were less than equipped to handle than our hosts. I hope it's a blip but Travis injury worries me as he's so hard to replace. It will be largely forgotten if we put Sunderland to the sword. They'll come and have a go, which may suit us. -

I'm talking about the performance. We created nothing, every player seemed so cautious and every sub was more defensive than the last. -

Negative, desperate for a point crap. Lucky to score 0. If promotion is the aim as they've talked about all week - think again. Reality check. Depressed. -
Imagine they also mean flags, scarves etc. Might encourage people to bring those along to add a bit more colour.

Think the club are reading - calls for a sea of blue and white. Happy to oblige! https://x.com/rovers/status/1870076694142275855?s=46

How nice is it to have selection headaches of a positive nature rather than looking at a position and wondering who the hell can play there? The big decisions - Right back - JRC or Brittain? I'd stick with JRC but both in good form. Does Beck return to left back or continue on left wing? I can see the latter. Eustace likes at least one more 'safe' winger. Cantwell back in? A no brainer for me. Definitely yes. ACD? Again, a yes for me. I know Eustace is a bit more cautious on the road but we need that star dust. Gueye or Ohashi - leaning towards the former. -
All of the above. I don't live locally so can't comment on what they're doing but Hyndburn has always been a fertile ground for support. The club acknowledged in the recent fans forum they can do more outside of the Blackburn area.

3 blocks in the upper on sale now. 4 points across to Saturday and Boxing Day and wouldn't be shocked by a near home sell out. Credit goes to Eustace and the team - I think a bit of long awaited fight in the last game vs them also helped.

Bamford turned into an absolute machine for a year during Covid, but reverted to type after Covid with his usual assortment of missed chances. However, maybe that largely empty Darwen End will trigger his Covid form given his prolific goalscoring in front of empty seats? In all seriousness, we need a more clinical striker. We don't create loads. I don't have the footballing knowledge to name names and know how hard a goal scorer can be to find. Barry will be top of a lot of wish lists I'd imagine. -
The replies are what I think about him, but whilst I know he won't 'push' for promotion, to suggest he would actively oppose it doesn't make much sense. People thinking he wouldn't want to accidentally get a decent crowd (in spite of his usual uselessness in that regard) as we might win just seems a bit of a reach....

Will only miss one, was a professional foul rather than violent conduct. Either way, his lack of form is a bit worrying! -
One thing that confuses me is why Waggott wouldn't want us to get promoted? I'm no fan of his but if we somehow snuck up he'd likely get a massive bonus and would be guaranteed a job for life. Or am I missing something? I'm not suggesting he'll do anything pro active to achieve it but the quoted post suggests us selling a lot of tickets (thus hitting his revenue targets) would be a negative as it would help the team play well.
