I think JE will go for the same back 5 (albeit with Pickering in for Beck), Travis and Tronstad in the engine room and then Hedges, Dolan and ACD behind Gueye. It's a prediction rather than the team I'd pick but I wouldn't be too disappointed. Given there's no Beck to bomb on and given he was pretty ineffectual I see Baker dropping out the team.

Chuffed with that. Two top drawer finishes from Yuki - what a find he has been. I think Dolan deserves a mention. He gets a hard time from some but I thought he was very impressive at Burnley (a linesman's mistake away from a famous goal) and his chasing and weight of pass played a big part in our 2nd goal today. Carter looks as good as I've seen him and Trav giving two fingers to JDT and Gregg. 3-0 up and able to bring on players with the quality of Weimann, ACD and Cantwell is a great position to be in. PNE still feels like a potential banana skin as they enjoy their new manager bounce, but really good to be feeling optimistic. -

Pretty much saying Eustace was the difference between signing here and other clubs. Good to hear. -

I like how we are debating where the new signings will play. A big improvement on wondering how we'll cobble together a half decent starting 11. Competition for places has been an alien concept at our club for too long, glad it seems to be returning. -

I think this is a complete overreaction. We are thin on numbers yes, but we somehow have a stronger bench than last year. We, like many Championship sides, lost vs lower league opposition. It was largely bred out of complacency and whilst some players did themselves no favours, I don't think it totally offsets the otherwise decent start to the season. Only 2 weeks ago you were predicting a thumping win at Norwich, who finished in the top 6 last year. -

You can say that about any signing. I don't know much about the keeper but he and particularly the latter 2 have a much higher pedigree than Telalovic (who had played a season in the German third division or wherever it was) and are incomparable. -

I don't think Burnley are the best example, they may be spending a bit but their fans have been in absolute turmoil as they sell every player with a hint of interest. -
When Sven Came, Then Changed His Mind

When you see interviews with that cohort you can almost understand why though. All were consumed by petty club rivalries and international football was almost an afterthought. England were absolutely robbed at Euro 2004 too by woeful refereeing vs Portugal, Campbell's goal should have stood. And then lost in 2002 vs a brilliant Brazil side. Not saying he did well, mind, I was quite young then but remember watching England play was like pulling teeth. -

Parker looked furious in his interview today post-game - we sadly have lots of experience in seeing our managers looking not-so-subtly pissed off at transfers and boardroom shenanigans! -
Of course he wouldn't, but it's all relative. I don't think anyone pretends he was a great player, but people like him as he gave 100% and seemed a nice bloke who built good rapport with the supporters. Given the shitshow of the last 14 years, 2018 was one bright spot so no surprise to see him remembered fondly.

Genuinely have no idea how this will go. There appears to be a bit of discontent over the road lately - they've started selling anything not nailed down, but there still remains a very strong squad - although perhaps a bit thin, 2 keepers and academy players on the bench today. Worrall should be a good signing, no idea if they have more in the pipeline. This next week will be important for them, will be interested to see if they reinvest much. Lots of 'asset stripping' accusations being levelled at Pace, again I have no idea if that's fair. They were apparently absolutely piss today, created nothing at Sunderland (who look a good side). It really depends if we have the stomach for it. It will be one of the toughest games of the season but one reassuring point is we don't lie down when we go behind now. For all his good qualities, JDT really dropped the ball at Turf Moor last time - his odd formation, omission of the Whartons and beaming smile post-game still winds me up now. We are long overdue some sort of joy vs them - we haven't scored against them since 2014! A chance for one of the new lads to really make themselves a hero. Prediction - lots of pints, a vociferous away end and frayed nerves. I fear for Pears in this one though, but then he has stood up in pressure moments (Leicester/Leeds away). -
That's the one! Certainly put me off the train anyway. It was extremely convenient! Im a bit torn on travel plans, train is preferable but also don't want any hassle or to be treated like cattle. I doubt they'll escort us to a suitable watering hole!
-
There was a rail strike that day which no doubt impacted it. A coach was preferable to a taxi or driving.
-
I don't think there's any need for that. I personally enjoy your contributions and hearing a pretty fair viewpoint of events over the m65. I'd have enjoyed hearing them last season even more so, but that doesn't mean I don't think there's a place for them here. For instance, was good to hear a bit of context regarding the Cardiff game.
-
For anyone going next week, what are your travel plans? Weighing up getting the train but can't be bothered with any aggro and equally dont want to be treated like a criminal by the police all afternoon.

Also visited his grave a couple of months ago and left a scarf. The area itself is wonderful in St Brelades and it was an honour to pay respect to the greatest supporter this club will ever have.

I'm not sure how you've gone from predicting a 3-1 win pre-game to having us as likely to be relegated and looking totally negative on the back of a pretty good draw (on paper). -

Not too sure, his attempt at Preston the season before last suggests he likes one - this one was slightly more successful 😂 -

Delighted with Gueye so far, he might miss some but he's getting chances in areas Gally never did. No hiding behind defenders, he seems like the type who will constantly make himself available. Gally's main forte was defending from the front, Gueye seems to do that too - perhaps less effective at pressing but great aerially. He's the type of player we have craved, gives us more variety. Seems pretty popular with his team mates too, and I noticed in highlights he is a vocal player. -

Impossible to say, but they likely haven't scouted him or aren't aware of him. We got Tronstad for a snip and could have easily said 'why didn't X team sign him?' - thankfully they didn't! He might be better, might be worse, but it's probably worth a gamble as Gally has shown he isn't going to be the number 9 we all want. -
2024/25 Season Tickets
smiller14 replied to TheRevAshton's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
On the subject of tickets/memberships, I have given up on any idea on getting Burnley tickets. Sadly I didn't have a ST last year living in Cardiff and prioritised aways. Got one this year (although moved to NI), even got a women's ticket to show a bit of support but also for the points - a day later they announce that the women's ticket will actually be worth 60 and not 110. It's probably a fair amount but still 😂 So I'm stuck on 241 points, so I have a good 3.5k above me if they use those categories for priorities, not counting all the people in my category who will scramble for tickets in the unlikely event it gets to us. I know it's daft to go through all this for one game but what can I say, I'm a sad act 😂 gutted I'll likely miss out. My Burnley friend seems to think we'll only get 1,500 too, but that could be wishful thinking and probably just forum whispers, although who knows if they'll do it to spite us after we reduced theirs. -
2024/25 Season Tickets

I thought as much, just a bit worried about mine as it was combined with me choosing the wrong membership and needing them to reallocate. So they effectively cancelled my initial membership (-25), added a new one (+25) but I'd not received any points originally. Only worrying due to Stockport/Burnley being relatively early on.
