  1. You played well first half. Ballard kept us in it first 15 minutes and no surprise you scored your goal when he was off the pitch injured. However, we comfortably controlled the 2nd half and we’re way off our best tonight but Jack Clarke is simply different gravy. Don’t get the hate towards Mowbray mind - he’s been brilliant for us since day one and has us playing fantastic football the majority of the time. Good luck the rest of the season, except at the SOL.
  2. Believe you me this has nowt to do with Alex Neil. We’ve improved 10-fold under Mowbray. Having a young, hungry squad has suited him down to the ground and it’s produced the best footie I’ve seen us play for over a decade. If we had a striker for more than 15 games and had our CBs fit this team would have finished at least 2nd imo. Injuries have hampered us no end
  3. A draw would not have been a fair result and 09 has been playing CB for us most of this season. He’s been excellent, despite his height. Mind once Batth is fit, him and Ballard should be our CB pairing and an immense one at that. We didn’t play very well today and haven’t done at home most of the season but now that Stewart is back fit we have a chance at the playoffs
  4. Well we played pretty poorly today but deserved the win. Your lot seemed to be desperate for the draw. When we play fast and on the ground we cause all sorts of bother for the opposition but Mowbray doesn’t seem to have noticed that and drilled it into them. We desperately miss Pritchard playing through balls to Stewart. Got to say from the two games we’ve played this season I’m disappointed not to have taken 4 points minimum
  5. Yup. You and every Sunderland fan wonder that. Hopefully rectified in January No idea who Dack was until I just googled him. Has he been linked? Doubt Stewart would move to you guys unless you were promoted so could offer PL football.
  6. You’d have to ask Speakman why we didn’t get a 3rd striker in the summer. We were all crying out for one. Suppose he thought Simms could cover if Stewart was out but typically they both get injured in close succession. Amad Diallo from Man U is apparently a striker but he isn’t playing there and looks a bit pap (cost Man U £37m with add ons from Atalanta - crazy) There’s not much available in the free agent market and Simms was supposed to be due back before now. We have a promising youngster, Max Thompson, but Mowbray said the other week he’s too raw for first team action In my view it has to be worth whacking him on the bench so we have the option. Stewart’s deal is up in the summer but the club have a 1 year extension they can invoke (which we will). He won’t be staying long if we don’t get up soon as he’s a quality all round player and knows where the net is. With him we’d be top 6 at present imo and is holding off signing a new deal for better terms
  7. He had a bad game by his standards. 4 goals and 4 assists this season. Decent but should have a lot more if he took a few more chances rather than dilly dallying on the ball too long
  8. He’s a very decent player but very raw. Needs to learn to go on his left and shoot a lot more. Mind if he was able to get that into his game he would still be at Spurs and not down a league with us. Surprised Spurs didn’t stick a buy back clause into the sale agreement like they have with Cirkin
  9. His post-match interview gives me some hope on that front as even he can see it’s killing us not having that focal point. As another poster said, Roberts is unreal for this level. The way the ball sticks to his feet is something else. Good luck for the rest of the season, just not v us at home 😉
  10. Well that was a disappointing game from our perspective. Awful officiating gifted two goals to you instead of giving us a good chance to go 1 up. Missing a striker for half our games this season is killing us and Stewart still not due back until the new year. Mind, we’ll be some force when he’s back and IF he can stay fit! Comfortable mid table finish for us I think. Could have been so much more with a striker.
  11. It’ll have to do as it’s now official 🙈 https://www.safc.com/news/team-news/2022/august/tony-mowbray-appointed-head-coach Our club announcing it after 10pm smacks of embarrassment about the appointment and awaiting the backlash. I didn’t want Alex Neil initially so have to give TM a chance to prove me wrong. Maybe he can now push Van Hecke over the line as we were being linked with him
  12. Thanks for taking the time to post your detailed views lads, much appreciated. Our aim this season has to be survival so sounds like he’ll likely see that achieved. Gutted/annoyed about Neil as the feel good factor was back, we were playing really good football and rare optimism as a Sunderland fan had returned. Will be looking out for Stoke’s results now in the hope they do poorly.
  13. Sunderland fan in peace. It’s looking increasingly likely that he will replace Neil as our manager before Wednesday’s game v Rotherham. Just wondering what your thoughts are on him as a manager? Thanks in advance
