  1. I remain on the fence about the actual recruitment team (as distinct from the brass above them). Theres been some dross, but some decent finds in there too and its pretty hard to play poker when every hand you get dealt is 2 8 off suit.
  2. Smodiczs is hardly setting the league alight this year either.
  3. No sorry. I meant Clifford the big red dog. Too many kids movies for me.
  4. That Hackney tackle was a bigger red than Clifford. Abominable officiating.
  5. Poor initial touch (off a difficult ball tbf), but he more than made up for it with his subsequent effort. So many players would put 80% in to getting that ball back. He put 110% in and forced the mistake. The difference between making it appear like you want the ball, and really really wanting it. I loved that aspect of his play here as well. Cross was mint as you say.
  6. Great work by Dolan for Espanyols second. https://youtu.be/KY0CxbbtllU?si=pqaz3VwVsxFVQ5nu
  7. How many years did we have hard-working, non scoring center forwards and sat here wishing we had a bloke who'd just stick it in the net? We finally have one and there's complaints about the rest of his game? Said it before, but a player in this division who is the complete package doesn’t stay here for very long. Gudjohnsen is a very good player at this level.
  8. Making it through high school with the name Dick is achievement enough. Some effort making it to a century.
  9. Can't blame folks for having pause though.
  10. Re Hedges, theres no player in this division who isn't limited in some way. The key to getting out of a league like this isn't assembling a squad of premier league quality players. It's getting players in positions where their strengths are accentuated and their flaws are not as relevant. Thats more straightforward with a competent back office/owners, but VI seems to have done that with a few players regardless, eg Hedges, De Neve, Cantwell, Miller. It's in no small part due to him being willing to make a significant change to our formation, which isn't the kind of flexibility you often see from modern coaches, with JDT immediately coming to mind.
  11. Shows what a different team you can be when your 1 and 9 put in excellent performances.
  12. Keepers never get the credit (or blame) they're due in these sorts of things.
  13. The kind that doesnt need all 6 of their fingers.
