  1. Agree about Boateng and Boa Morte, but would enjoy Duff. He’s done well in LoI and was a top player. Knows the club and could turn into a top manager.
  2. It will be an unknown quantity forward from abroad for a fee or circa a million over a few instalments on bargain basement wages and will be dressed up as something special by the club.
  3. That’s unless it’s already down the line and they are in the country. Rumours probably come to light 2/3 days after clubs speak surely
  4. It will be the left back and an obscure overseas forward not yet linked with us for a low fee is my bet….
  5. Looks like we are after Youan as well if Scottish newspapers are anything to go by. Eustace must want 2 wingers. https://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/hibs/latest-hibs-news/hibs-reject-bid-for-elie-youan-but-braced-for-further-offers-as-efl-suitors-circle-4969260
  6. Kargbo is a winger. Full of pace and direct. Whether he can have an impact in the championship or not is a different matter.
  7. Possibility of pushing for both Youan and Cissokho? One loan one permanent and a possible exit as well? wouldn’t surprise me, both will be earning relatively low wages at Plymouth and Hibs even if Youan commands a fee, it will be with a view to flogging him on in 18 months.
  8. Luis Palma from Celtic might be one to watch. apparently a few championship clubs chasing him and fits the bill of a winger with pace and sounds like he’s being offered around.
  9. Cantwell is crying out for players with pace and physicality around him to stretch teams to create him space to play in. At the minute teams can afford to play high and press us because there’s little or no threat going the other way.
  10. West Brom about to sign Al-Hamadi on loan. That’s a decent pick up for them
  11. I think Saturday will force the hand of Rudy and co - we will see movement this week of players in, whether the players are of any pedigree remains to be seen but the squad is clearly lacking in pace and quality and something needs to give
  12. Agreed that someone in the championship will stump up the cash at some point. Fits the bill of being a real outlet on the left hand side as well, fee might be too much for us.
  13. I would normally agree, but the current market is bizarre, if he scored 5-10 goals in the second half of the season one of the relegated teams or a team with parachute payments would happily gamble £ on a 27 year old striker scoring goals in the championship ( I know this is a big IF)
  14. If you offered me Aasgard and Asante at the start of the window I would be more than happy that it would be a significant improvement to our squad. Both add pace and physicality to our attack albeit Asante isn’t having the best season at Coventry, but they have been struggling as a whole.
  15. Have a hunch Aasgard is a long term target for the club. Will be an affordable salary and will probably get flogged in 1/2 years for a good fee, would be a smart investment.
  16. Forshaw is cover isn’t he. Can’t really see the issue with him on a deal till the end of the season and only likely to feature is circa 5-10 games. Travis and Trondstadt clearly first choice with Buckley probably looking to feature more in the absence of Baker. Forshaw brought in as 4th choice maybe 5th if he opts for JRC in there as well. Crying out for some pace going forward so we can stretch teams. Would definitely bring out the best in Cantwell if we did that as well. Dennis would be an interesting one but seems to have fallen off the face of the earth over the last 18 months which is a concern, whoever we opt for has to be match fit and be able to improve and contribute straight away. None of this taking 10 games to get up to speed.
  17. I think we can rule out Brereton and Bamford on finances alone. Wallace may be astute business but questions need to be asked as to why he has gone from being one of the top performers in the championship to not getting a look in within 12 months, his legs may have gone? Right wing is a tough position to play if he’s not as mobile as he once was.
  18. Seen Kitching a couple of times and always looks the part. Tall left footed centre half who can play left back. Probably be a decent fee for him I would think. i think centre half will be a priority for the medium/ longer term with McFadzean unlikely to sign again, Hyam contract expiring and Batth another year older.
  19. “We have some money to spend” Offload 2 players earning circa 15-20k a week (Baker and Siggy) Pay a million in 10 instalments for a player on 5-10 k per week, dress up a significant outlay and move on 😂
  20. Would take Brewster on the right deal. Clearly a player there, bear in mind a large number of those 95 appearances will have been while Sheff U were a premier league club. Theres potentially 100’s of reasons its not worked for him at Sheffield United, we’d certainly be sick if he signed for someone else and started banging them in. Can anyone name me (aside from probably Adam Armstrong) who these proven championship goal scorers are? I can’t think of another who scores regularly at this level. Let alone the cost in January a player who scored regularly at this level. A forward with experience of scoring goals at this level is not going to happen.
  21. Eustace absolutely has it in his locker to axe Pears. But he has to decide which keeper gives him his best possible chance of winning the game. Personally think Pears’ days as No1 are numbered ( that’s based on my opinion of what I have seen of him over the past 18months) I do think this game has come too quick for Toth though, trained with the team once before leaving for international duty. Just hoping JE isn’t waiting for a Pears’ clanger before dropping him. Pears like Wahlstedt may go on to be a decent keeper, that doesn’t mean we continue to persevere with them at the loss of 10-15 points a season for us.
  22. It’s the fight and determination that I love to see , it’s been years since we’ve had a team with back bone and bottle. The early season results Remind me of the the Souness/ Hughes teams of the early 00’s. Theres a long way to go but if we can use this new found spirit and mix it with a bit of extra quality we can go far. Injuries will go a long way to determining the success of our season. A pal from work (knows his football but doesn’t watch rovers) watched the Burnley game. Without being prompted from me the first thing he spoke about was that our keeper looked dodgy! He got away with a few moments that could’ve gone either way. Its a big decision for Eustace, I’m praying he’s not waiting for the inevitable Pears clanger before he gives the new goalkeeper a go.
  23. He’s very well thought of but had injuries over last 12 months. Asked Arsenal to tear his contract up after he failed to get a loan move apparently. He played at Ewood for Wigan the season they got relegated and looked the part, mobile, good on the ball. Injury issues will definitely be a concern though.
  24. George Hall signed for Walsall on loan
  25. Wouldn’t mind Cantwell off the bench tomorrow against the dingles. if we get Cantwell and both wingers sign we’ve arguably got the best squad since we got relegated from the PL, with the exception of THAT Bowyer squad with Rudy and Rhodes firing.
