The Summer Transfer Window (Press Submit)

People talk about swap deals. Can’t remember a single one taking place. I’m sure they have happened but it’s so rare. It will not happen. It will be about maximum £ as soon as possible for the club. -

He’ll be gone. This news comes out after he was left out on Saturday as a “precaution” but trained for half an hour on his own before the game. Hope they’ve managed to get a decent fee for him. Worked hard for us last season and this is probably his last chance to have a go at the premier league. Add to that, we are clearly desperate for cash, a big wage rise and the fact he’s from Colchester to the mix, he will be gone. Leaves in a pretty desperate situation now… -

In what world is that defending them? Quite the opposite when it’s clearly what the football side of our club want. It’s clear they are refusing to do it. -

I think the Manager is clearly pushing for experience, as JDT was, but Transfers are no longer viewed on improvement to the team immediately rather what are they going to be worth to the club in 1 to 2 years. I still think the club will part with money for players providing its low risk and close to guaranteeing a return next summer or the year after. -

It’s clear there are people within the club, whether it’s recruitment or the money men, who do not agree with signing a 37 year old. I don’t think it’s a “we can’t afford” more a “we don’t want” despite what the manager wants. Gone are the days where we give a decent contract to someone 30+. Fleck and McFadzean in January were an emergency and not something we have done for several years. -

Think they are looking to sell. Wouldn’t be surprised if we stumped up some cash for a player like him, or agreed to dispose of some of Kaminski’s clauses as part of the deal. His wages will be fairly low, they are competing with League 1 clubs for him and Swag will know that Rovers could get their money back for him from a League 1 club if he struggles or sell him for a big fee if he has an average or good season.Far more likely than a Baker who they know they will get nothing back for. -

Another 3 club rule link, this time to John McAtee. He had a good year at Barnsley last season. Did someone a few pages back have some info that us and Preston had been in talks with someone from Barnsley? Only 24 might be a good cheap punt. -

Our last 2 managers have identified we are desperate for an experienced leader at centre half. Our club are clearly incapable of providing that for them -

It will be players in from Europe on low wages for small fees or loans to bulk the squad up. No way they will take on Bakers wage, probably one of their top earners. 29 years old. We won’t give him a 2/3 contract on the salary he’s earning at Stoke. -

Anyone out in Austria any idea if Szmodics was at the game yesterday?Has he got an injury or is he off? -

Baker doesn’t make much sense again does it? Surely on a good wage and would command a fee. Must be agent talk again… -

Marek Rodak/Asmir Begovic Paudie O’Connor/Sean McLaughlin AND Liam Cooper Winger loan Striker loan Is the minimum to give us a competitive squad IMO, plus replacing anyone that the club inevitably receive an offer for. Really struggling for depth otherwise. Our bare 11 is fairly decent, but how long can we survive with that? Maximum 5 games I would suggest. -

I presume he knows that any statement that reflects negatively on Venky’s would immediately cost him his job -

Why are the club allegedly enquiring about McLaughlin, Engelhardt, Dykes, Paik etc. Is it just club generated rumours as a smoke screen or are the club either aware of an impending exit or planning for life after 20th August? Strange behaviour either way. Don’t think many genuine supporters would stop supporting the club if they showed some honesty, shed light on our difficult financial situation as a result of ownership issues and told us of cut backs and no sign of investment. -

Any idea why he was picked to play regularly in the premier league season before last then? Nonsense really from their supporters that really isn’t it, even if he struggled in the premier league -

There will be an extremely small number of people who will have knowledge of transfer budgets, information on venky’s and new appointments such as Park/Rudy. Would estimate less than five people if you take out the new appointments. Whoever it is knows full well they will be found out. Strange business. -

I imagine someone will get him on loan for the season possibly with an option to buy next summer. He’s brilliant in the air but pretty limited in other areas, probably why he has struggled in Spain. I imagine he’s on a decent salary if he signed there after a good season in the Championship. He will certainly offer something different for a club who can pay him 😒 -

Sory Kaba has been told he can leave Las Palmas in La Liga either permanently or on loan, limited game time for them last season. Was very impressive at Cardiff the season before in the championship. Dont know what kind of salary he will be on, but he’s apparently being looked at by English clubs, which presumably will be championship clubs -

10 goals in 31 games for a team that only scored 33 goals all season. It’s actually pretty impressive when you see the full facts. If we were linked with someone who’d scored 15 for Rotherham last season would you be impressed? A gamble none the less but certainly not comparable to Telalovic and has potential to score goals -

We simply have to persist with overseas signings at the minute, low fees, cheap wages. This lad has miles more pedigree than Telalovic, playing two tiers above him and relatively successful. I can’t understand how people think we are going to go and recruit a striker with a proven record in England. A. These players don’t exist B. We aren’t spending money. -

Not bigging this lad up, quite frankly never heard of him. he’s probably being offered around by his agent after they have been relegated but Telalovic never played in the 2.Bundesliga and certainly hadn’t scored goals at that level. Would be another inexpensive gamble which I’m sure certain directors would be happy with… -

Bristol taking a punt on Sinclair Armstrong from QPR. Young but 3 goals in 61 championship games doesn’t make great reading. Surely they won’t be letting both him and Dykes leave. -

I think he is held accountable for his performance. The performance he is judged on is pound signs alone. More money clawed in the more impressed the owners are. -

McLaughlin would be an astute piece of business. Clearly up to this level, only 27 and for some reason available at a cut price fee. You make a good point about Cooper. We won’t last 10 games with 2 fit senior centre backs let alone a full season. We need 2 and I think presently this is far more important than any recruitment in the forward positions -

Dykes 34 championship goals Gallagher 50, Szmodics 38 (Dykes at a similar goals per minute ratio to Szmodics) I’m sure We could do a lot better if we had money, we don’t. I bet there aren’t many other clubs in the league with a forward line with that many goals between them. We’ve been spoilt over the years with good forwards, in fact we have rarely been without. Dykes and Gallagher would certainly be nowhere near the worst strikers in the league.
