  1. If by some miracle we could get Begovic, Cooper and Dykes over the line I think they would massively improve us. Our team is devoid of experience, physicality and a bit nastiness. It has been for quite a few years.
  2. Ah the 12 monthly Lyndon Dykes rumours have surfaced again. He’s not got a great goal scoring record but QPR have been a very poor side over the last few years. Presume either his agent is trying to push for a move or someone within rovers likes him as this continues to resurface. FWIW I think we could do a lot worse. He’s clearly got something about him from his performances for Scotland and we will never again buy a forward with a goal every other game record in the championship whilst venky’s are at the helm. His hold up play is better than Gallagher’s and he’s certainly a threat in the air.
  3. Will be quite telling if Szmodics is involved today. The cynical side of me would say the protective boot from last weekend might be a decent excuse. I recall Hanley doing something very similar a few years back when Newcastle came calling. My money is on him not being involved at all.
  4. Have they been waiting to flog Szmodics all along and waiting for THAT money before we start going for players? Unlikely I know
  5. Personally don’t think we’d have ever got more than 10 million for him. My point is that we have all criticised the club for letting contracts run down and on this occasion they haven’t and we stand to get a decent fee for a player who has had a great season and will probably never be worth anymore than he is this summer. It matters not anyway because NONE of it will be going back into the team 😂
  6. Bet this was agreed when he signed his new deal at the turn of the year, allows club to safeguard getting a fee and would allow him a premier league move should one materialise. We can moan about the fee, but we would be complaining even more now if he was going into the last 12 months of his deal and was refusing to sign a new deal. Can imagine Szmodics party insisted on it as this will probably be his only opportunity for a move to the premier league and the big money that comes with it. Unpopular opinion but I don’t begrudge him or the club if he leaves for the premier league for a fee of around £8 million.
  7. Not sure. Just presumed he’d been injured, midfield not a priority for us but I think we could do a lot worse. He’s shown he can play at this level and is only 26
  8. Wonder where Allan Campbell is off, just been released from Luton. Was well thought of when he came South from Scotland. Played 42 times in Luton’s promotion season, spent last year on loan at Millwall.
  9. They have gone early and been proactive. Are there any players we are particularly jealous they haven’t come here though? Maybe Tanganga, other than that they have gambled on a few players from lower leagues, who may turn out well.
  10. Correct. He’s a left footer who’s considered pretty steady at this level. Again I’d be amazed if they were willing to sell a decent championship centre half for such a low fee.
  11. They would’ve changed their minds on him quickly. Signed a 3 year deal last summer.
  12. Be surprised if Hull are ready to sell McLaughlin on the cheap. They are in the process of selling Greaves for £20 million to Ipswich. I mean, what’s in it for them?
  13. Park tends to recruit from Overseas as well albeit with mixed results
  14. Yes, think both of them were part of the 4 players on exemption work permits with the new EFL rules. Leaves only Sigurdsson at the club and 3 places available under these rules. Tronstadt qualified for a work permit because of the number of games he’s played in the Eredivisie. If they don’t want to spend, abroad makes more sense than your 32/33 year old players with Championship and Premiership experience, even if those from abroad would command a small fee.
  15. Don’t think they will sign McFadzean or Fleck. They would’ve done it by now if they were going to do that.
  16. I agree in normal club circumstances. Unfortunately we aren’t a normal club and we don’t want to be agreeing to take on 3/4 players on 15/20 k per week for a couple of years with nothing to show for it on the other side. Batth, Ruddy, McFadzean, Fleck and Krul will all fall into this category and although the manager will want them and probably make sense on the football side, they don’t make sense financially. Hence the push back every time we try to recruit an experienced player.
  17. Looks like he’s due to play his last game for HJK this afternoon in a Champions League Qualifier.
  18. Article reads like he’s off to Europe for a fee of around a million euros. I’m sure his wages will be a pittance. They know they can get their money back if they need it. Low fee, low wages, low risk, small chance of making money if he turns out a good player.
  19. They are going to struggle with the line “venky’s have never refused to sign a cheque” now 😂😂
  20. Given our recent recruitment, we are much more likely to gamble on a young player that there is a possibility of selling for 5 million in 12 or 18 months.
  21. I still wouldn’t be surprised by a cheap McGuire deal in the coming weeks. He’s turned down another contract at Orlando, they’ll be concerned about losing him for nothing. Would also be an “I told you so” moment for Waggott who would claim to the press and owners that he’s cleared up a mess caused by others in January who have now been removed from the club.
  22. I suspect this is correct, With links to Ruddy and Krul as a result of the club knowing there was money coming in from Wahlstedt.
  23. John Park will bring his own people into his department, so I wouldn’t read too much into the Head of Emerging Talent leaving. What “emerging talents” have we recruited over the past few years to justify his role? The only decent players we have signed in recent years were established pro’s in the championship and one from the Eredivisie. Money is clearly a massive issue despite Waggot’s cock and bull stories. A change of tact is required. Get the likes of Tim Krul, Liam Cooper, John Fleck (if fit) to be the spine of the team then perhaps loanees to play in the wide areas. A centre forward gamble from Europe and another if we get a decent offer for Gallagher. I can’t see any significant cash buys, except maybe those similar to Wahlstedt and Telalovic towards the end of the window.
  24. Just isn’t news is it? The club have never allowed anyone else from the club to attend the senior training centre or mix with first team players, usually a managers decision, based probably around confidentiality of transfers and other first team business, been the case since the place was built! Although the lack of drink and toilet facilities is pretty inexcusable especially with the size of the academy and senior training centre. Can’t imagine any employee from ewood/ academy or the women’s team can just rock up and start using first team facilities unless it’s pre arranged and agreed with management. That has nothing to do with the lack of funding the women’s team receives
  25. Also not great that a disgruntled player or member of staff has clearly gone crying to the daily mail. Why should the club loose hand over fist on another department in the club?
