  1. Our money back on Wahlstedt is a decent deal to be fair. I have a funny feeling he will kick on at some point and become a good goalkeeper. He wasn’t for us right now though, you can’t be having a goalkeeper in the championship who can’t catch or deal with crosses. You WILL get found out, and he was.
  2. I think Eustace will look to build a compact team with pace in the wide areas physicality up front. That is how he had success with Birmingham. Unfortunately looks like he will need to do it on a shoe string. I can imagine Travis and Tronstadt both being in. Szmodics, Gallagher and Dolan to be sold and replaced. He cannot be judged on last season. We were wide open as a team when he came in, conceding 2 or 3 goals a game. All my opinions of course!!
  3. I don’t even think it’s a particularly positive take. I am just saying that we will categorically not have offered 29 year Murphy the 3 years with an option of a 4th he’s just signed at Portsmouth and likely promises of regularly starting games in the championship. I’m very glad we haven’t.
  4. Or we offered a contract on the basis he’s a squad player for one or two years and Portsmouth want him playing regularly and agree to sign him for 3 with the possibility of 4 years. Totally agree with the club not doing that. Totally understand why he would choose Portsmouth, nothing to do with us being unable to attract a league 1 player.
  5. Are we really gutted we haven’t sign Murphy (who turns 30 this season). A championship/ league one journeyman who had a decent season in League 1 and will be looking for one big last pay day. Done well to avoid.
  6. If we have a budget I’d be paying Troyes for Ike Ugbo…
  7. It will be Ruddy in to replace Wahlstedt
  8. £8 million is a clear ploy by Broughton to protect his value. No doubt Szmodics people will have made representations that he wouldn’t sign without it given his age and his desire to play premier league football. I don’t there’s any surprise and some credit is owed after the disasters of BBD, Lenihan, Nyambe and Rothwell running their contracts down. It was probably agreed at the time of signing the contract that he would be gone this summer. Fair play to him, he’s clearly worked hard and earnt it.
  9. Herbie Kane would probably be the best we could hope for, he’s a capable player who looks on the up after a couple of poor years, suspect Barnsley will be miffed as they paid a million plus for him a couple of years ago and are loosing him for nothing
  10. Kane and Connolly would certainly be decent options if we could bring them here. Kane has always been highly regarded from his Liverpool days. appeared to have gone off the boil but 9 goals from midfield in League 1 last season. Barnsley won’t be happy about loosing him on a free after paying a million plus for him a few years ago. Not sure Connolly has the best goal scoring record in the championship but far better than anything we have and generally works the line really well when he’s played against us.
  11. Money probably and the knowledge that if he does a good job one of the bigger boys will come calling
  12. Anyone else not be surprised by a Damien Johnson promotion to DoF? Popular with fan base, knows the academy and first team inside out, will have a very good knowledge of PL2 players as well. I for one think he is very competent and I don’t think he’d be a bad shout at all.
  13. Preston and clubs in Germany/ Holland have apparently been watching Georgie Gent. He’s delivered more crosses per game (7.49) than anybody else in the SPL (from left back). Motherwell fans are very complimentary of him. Hopefully another academy product who is going to get an opportunity to shine for us.
  14. I reserve any sort of judgment on Eustace at Had 0 options when he came in other than trying to make our wide open team more solid and stop the 1 or 2 goals per game being shipped from set pieces. I expect this summer for him to attempt to build a compact team with pace at the top of the pitch. This is what he did very well with the likes of Khadra, Dembele, Miyoshi at Birmingham. We all know there isn’t going to be mass investment in the squad despite recent and upcoming sales but I do believe Gregg will push for several players on small fees with the aim of selling for profit after 1 or 2 good years. I think we will see Sigurdsson do well this season. Clearly has ability and was affected by injury issues.
  15. JRC plays 20 games a season
  16. In the event we stay up and Huddersfield go down I wouldn’t be surprised if we paid a decent fee for Jack Rudoni. Been impressed every time we’ve played them. Head and shoulders above the rest and still only 22, fits the mould. Also wouldn’t be surprised to see Reda Khadra, with the club and JE links from Birmingham. I expect 3/4 low fees for players aged between 21 and 24 and nothing much else. szmodics to be sold, Travis to return and play regularly under JE.
  17. The longer this drags on the worse it gets for us. No doubt we will be haggling every penny which will be slowing everything down. We will go into a massive game on Saturday with 0 plan in place and utter chaos in every department.
  18. Interesting that Jackson describes the potential appointment as Head Coach/Manager. Does this also mean that GB is going and Eustace will report directly into Suhail and Waggott?
  19. I think Benni McCarthy is a possibility. Ticks the boxes of cheap and appeases the fans to distract from the real problems at hand.
  20. Still a deafening silence from Ewood 4 days on. I’m sure there will be a lot of infighting whilst they decide who will take the blame for this one. They threw Broughton under the bus last year and know by doing so again it will ultimately cost him his job. It’s a scandal. I have always been appreciative of the financial backing over the last 10 years but there is no reasonable excuse for this latest debacle. There is no way our club can improve or even sustain under this current ownership model. ”But who would buy us” is a nonsense argument . Has there every been a club that hasn’t been bought when up for sale?
  21. A conspiracy theory yes it is, but far more believable in my eyes than 4 directors of professional football clubs with decades of experience make administration mistakes 3 times in 12 months leading to players being unable to sign for the club.
  22. Club agree to sign a player on loan/permanent transfer as it’s within current budgets Player to travels to Brockhall to complete medical and sign, with the transfer being agreed by club executives. Pune gets wind of the plans to spend money and the transfer gets cancelled. Pune/ Suhail tells executives to dress it up as Administrative issues to prevent Media and supporters from learning that venkys have pulled the plug.
  23. I now believe that this “admin error” was intentional rather than a mistake. Sylvester, Waggott more than experienced enough dealing with international transfers. Never known to happen at any other football club but they expect us to believe they’ve made this mistake 3 times in 12 months. It’s nonsense and quite frankly an insult to the supporters that they expect us to believe it’s been done in error. The only way to deal with this is a clear out from top downwards but it won’t happen. I would expect them to point the finger at GB and the likes of Waggott continue drawing their significant wage from the club while taking 0 responsibility for anything that goes wrong. We have managed to go from one of the best run football clubs around to one of the worst in the world and a laughing stock in the national and international press. I don’t know where we go from here, but I’m looking forward to seeing what spin they put on this over the next 24 hours in blaming anyone else other than themselves. It’s a toxic situation and there is a complete lack of integrity from the owners or the board of this football club. There would be so much more respect if they were to come out and say “We need to sell Adam to afford to continue running this football club and we will not be spending this money on incoming transfers in the near future”
  24. As frustrating as the current cost cutting/ asset stripping situation is, which for me entirely falls at the door of Waggott and the owners, I think GB deserves credit. Time will tell, but this side looks far more adept at dealing with Championship games than the teams we were stringing together in December. Fleck and McFadzean are experienced pro’s who have played 100’s of games at this level and the Rotherham/Preston type results simply would not have happened with them around. Adam Wharton is a top talent who will be sorely missed and we will see the difference without him, but let’s be honest, as soon as serious money was on the table he was going. Best of luck to all the new signings, particularly to McGuire who has had a difficult start to life over here. This team on Saturday has more than enough to win the game.
